The passion Production IG put into Heavenly Delusion made it the most immersive anime experience I’ve had since Made In Abyss. I’m hoping this this series gets popular so that we get a second season.
I’m 4 minutes in and I just have to say that you’re research is absolutely incredible. The way you just find every detail about the entire production process and even the history behind it is insane. You definitely need more recognition. Keep up the good work
10/10 adaptation for me, I've read the manga and this is something I can celebrate whole, wouldn't have changed a single thing - well maybe just one thing but it's not the ice spider Hiruko. I think they've done an excellent work and don't even notice that much of a change in the tone of the story honestly. But the fact that the leader of the White Shirt movement - survived and wasn't meant to be decieving when she sent Maru-Kiru duo into the basement, needs to be included imo. I've got a totally different impression of the conclusion of that event from just watching the anime.
This is the best show I’ve seen this year and NOBODY CARES. Dude idk if it’s the Disney + jail or general bad taste but this show is criminally underrated.
It's an incredible show, one of the better anime in the past few years, I don't think I've been so excited about something since... dorohedoro? the design is fresh and the story is great.
Oshi No Ko is alright and all, but this is by far the best anime of the season and maybe even the best show I've seen this year. At least it's certainly my favorite. Art direction, animation, cinematography, pacing, voice acting, plot, narrative, characters, etc. There's just a lot about this show that is brilliantly executed.
@fen7515 Haven't checked out Link Click so idk, but I've heard great things about it. About Zom 100, I don't know yet, but it's got a really good start.
I really hope season 2 is comes with time. Read the rest of the manga after I watched the show and it's has become one of my all time favorites if not the number 1 spot. Happy to see someone put the work in to show others how special this anime is.
I can't believe I missed this video! Thank you so much for watching it. It is easily one of my favourite manga of this year, in addition to Frieren! Would love to see you tackle JJK season 2 if you get a chance
Watching episodes every week made it fun especially seeing all those theories within the community and some being proven true. Though I was not a fan of how the last two episodes concluded. Side note:- Could you break down the animation of Vinland Saga S2 and compare it to the previous season since they apparently had the same people working on it.
Best produced anime that season imo. Strong contender for AOTY for me if not for Vinland Saga. This seasons' top were Vinland Saga, Tengoku Daimakyo, Oshi no Ko, and Witch From Mercury. Everything else is just the same ol' same old blur for me. But, great video! I can't believe that was a directorial debut. Man, this anime was everything I could hope for in an anime. Fantastic animation, amazing soundtrack, and phenomenal direction. Not that the characters and story are weak. Some good weekly eating for my animation-loving tastes. Mystery with no anime level exposition? Even better. Also, I don't sympathize with the hate I read after the last 2 episodes when we have something like Berserk and the eclipse. It depicted a scene you're supposed to dread and/or be furious about. You were supposed to be furious alongside Maru, as you were with Guts. Doesn't mean the whole anime is bad. It just means these more mature and darker anime/manga aren't particularly meant for you.
To be fair, the anime original addition to the very last scene with Maru and Kiruko (around when the credits started) in episode 13 understandably felt tonally jarring to many. And the manga itself ends the equivalent part of the story with a somber page where you don’t see either Maru and Kiruko (directly on page) as the van drives away, with only the torn picture of Haruki left behind. And while in isolation Kiruko’s lines during the credits scene can arguably work as like a form of coping for them (with how some survivors of SA may try to initially brush off what happened to them), the cheery ED song playing over the scene really doesn’t help with that. Personally, the anime should have at least gone with a more somber remix of the song like how episode 8 used its version of the ED song. The episode 13 version still comes off as far too upbeat.
Really really happy to see this talked about, I've been following the (fantastic) manga since the beginning and it's great to see more people get to experience it.
i came across this video right about when you released it but hadnt seen or read the anime/manga yet, well, i literally just finished episode 13 and came immediately here to watch this lol. great video and an amazing show! cant wait for season two! (even though its not confirmed ive heard credible rumors its coming down the line).
Heavenly Delusion is so excellent, in both versions (well maybe minus the throwaway gag at the end of the last ep, that was Not Great), glad to see someone else gushing this much over it
I picked up the manga after watching the show and it's funny how fast a lot of the mysteries are cleared up immediately after the events the anime ended at.
OMG, while I was watching episode 10 I was thinking to myself "Did they run out of budget? What the f*** ist happening with the animations". Thank you for explaining what actually happend. Now everything makes sense.
its wild to hear Canipa put his foot in his mouth over one of the best episodes in Heavenly Delusion ep 9, especially when its one of the most important episodes in the series, which makes it pretty insane to call it a "sidequest, mini-arc". Rest of the vid is great but, that's a weird oversight to here from him, over something so obvious
Nah I don't even care if ep 10 was unconventional to its other episodes, hell I'd even say it was its best, if not one of its best epiosdes. That "See you bye bye" scene will stay with me for a long time, one of my fav scenes ever in anime.
Can someone please tell me the vibe of this anime ? When it first came out as a manga, I was like, It's not my thing But after watching a clip on UA-cam (SPOILER!!!! literally a corpse of a girl without any limb) I was genuinely interested because it seems way darker than I thought
I'll just say it's Seinen and it targets an older demographic. Characters are fun but there are dark themes throughout, with a big over-arching mystery.
In terms of messed up and uncomfortable things happening to youth people have compared it to Made In Abyss. And in terms of it being post-apocalyptic setting people have also compared it to From The New World (Shin Sekai Yori). Masakazu Ishiguro himself has also stated that the major influences for the Heavenly Delusion series, include the works Akira, Armored Trooper Votoms, and an old Japanese science-fiction novel titled "Dogra Magra" that was written Kyūsaku Yumeno (who appears as a character in Bungo Stray Dogs) and published in 1935.
If i had a nickel for everytime an anime involving the legend of Kiruko-sama was locked un Disney jail, I'd have 2 nickels. which isnt a lot, but its weird that it happened twice.
Great anime for sure, adaptation is perfect, animation and everything is stunning. But this is the second time I feel that this is once more another great scifi story, but full of disturbing sex jokes or shocking scenes (rape etc...). First time I felt that was Made in Abyss having crazy world building and all, but always these strange pedophile moments sometimes. Really too bad for them, it kind of disvalue the series.
I lean more towards manga as a medium in general. In this case, though, the anime adaptation was a delight! As a reader of the original, watching the show didn't feel like a chore in the least.
Minority opinion probably: Hated 'most' of the animation in episode 10. The ice effects during that one battle was really good, but I absolutely hated the cartoon-ish crap after having watched 9 episodes of cinematic quality animation.
I guess you missed the fights in Jujutsu Kaisen? Chainsaw man has some parts which look worse, but others look amazing as well, it's a matter of where you put each animator.
for real, Mappa gathered the best animators in the industry just to make garbage that looks 10x worse than Tengoku Daimakyo, Mappa needs to collapse asap, all they do is ruin everything they touch.
It was tragic. He looked up to Robin all that time, and he ended up being a piece of shit. My biggest issue is that they let him go. Who's to say he won't do something like that to someone else. He was also doing some weird experiments on people, so keeping him alive definitely puts other people's lives in danger.

Ooooh, I’ve only just been recommended this one, I’m interested to see your take!
I knew episode 10 felt a lot different than others... I had fun watching episode 10 lol... Wish more manga's get the tengoku treatment (pun intended)
Tengoku makes the apocalypse fun, and THANK GOD it does. I've seen way too many depressing apocalyptic media so its refreshing to witness this series.
Biggest surprise of the spring season for me. An absolutely amazing anime adaptation.
So glad you covered this series! It is an EXPERIENCE and you delivered!
Love that you covered this series. The animation production of this show was truly incredible.

I'm a bit confused. Which secrets of the timeline are referred to here? (I watched the entire show already)
the secret that the school is in the past, it was not made clear in the manga (not as much as the anime did)
