I understand in PART 1, I wasn't very clear on the third "screw" or bolt location so hopefully this will clarify that!

    2008 Toyota Rav4 V6 alternator/generator removal and installation:
Toyota Service Manual says you must remove the radiator to take out the alternator. I did a bit of research and found conflicting information. That's why I made this video so hopefully this will help some of you out there. You don't have to take the radiator out!

Warning! The 2006 3.5 liter has a small wiring harness attached to the bracket which this hidden bolt fastens. If you are not careful you will pull the alternator out and not realize it is there, and break the wires that run to the camshaft position sensor which is located on the other side of the air conditioner compressor. Then you will have a bear of a time getting to that broken wiring to fix or replace it! I did not see this harness in Tez's video so they must have realized the problem of routing/attaching it there by 2008. But if you see a harness running near this bracket/bolt, be sure to disconnect the small harness from the bracket. These were excellent videos but I would hesitate doing this job again due to the tight access and chances for collateral damage to wiring when working out the alternator. Glad it's done!

Thanks for the info! Thank goodness the one I worked on wasn't like that!

I saw this comment so I was extra careful doing it, however, the wire still ripped. Now I gotta figure out how ima splice it back together in such a cramped spot.

Its actually the Crankshaft position sensor wiring harness (two wires).

See my comments on the first video on how to get to the Crankshaft position sensor and replace the wires, not hard when you read how the radiator, fan shroud and a/c condenser can all be moved forward at the same time giving you about 5-6 more inches of working clearance you will need (without draining or removing radiator).

Did you happen to get a picture or video of it?

Best way to get to it is to remove all 3 bolts from the heat shield and move the heat shield over to the right, creates alot more room for you to access the bolt on that L bracket. I removed it and never reinstalled the bracket because it doesnt really do anything its meant more to hold the wiring harness.

I forgot how many miles was on my neighbor's Rav4, but I believe his alternator failed due to non-natural causes since the wiring around the alternator was corroded. I wish you the best of luck!
