I definitely think you should acquire physical media for favorite movies while you are able. We are in danger of losing the ability to watch obscure, indie, controversial, or outdated movies if we rely streaming services to provide them.
With physical media, so long as it’s intact, it’s yours forever. No one can decide you have to pay monthly fees to view it, only for it to be cycled out of the catalogue for that month. The company that licenses it to you also can’t decide you shouldn’t be able to access it if you acquired it through their service (see the guy who had over 20k dollars of media through Apple locked out) It’s why I’m trying to buy as many physical copies of games, music, and movies I can find for reasonable prices. Sure there’s emulators, okay quality mp3 files, and special movie sites online, but anything that can be willed away by a few pieces of legislation is probably not the best thing to hinge your bets on.
Star Wars reedits just killed my soul. I watched those old movies every weekend when I was a kid, and now those movies don't exist --in an official capacity. I swear, every new review of that franchise feels like my friends refusing to let me let go of my ex.
I am still a fan of physical media, but the fact that no one under boomer age can afford a house means that hauling an entire media collection between different apartments every 2-5 years can be a daunting proposition.
I feel like these could have been sorted into "Necrophilia" and "Somehow, Not Necrophilia, Sorry" Cool Cat Saves The Kids is the second category. Probably.
The way you described your relationship with sex is exactly how I feel about it. I'm ace and I don't experience the horny feelings, but I'm so fascinated with it! Im so happy to be seeing another asexual person talk about this
I'm glad I'm not the only one who still likes physical media. Yeah it sucks sometimes to have so much crap lying around and certain ones can be expensive, but on the other hand streaming services don't get to fuck with me anymore, and we all know someday some rights thing will happen and suddenly oops there goes some art!
I actually got to see Perfect Blue in theatres and it was fucking awesome. I still wish someone would step up and help get Satoshi Kon's final film finished.
At this point I have a digital version, but my dad’s VHS of Phantom will always be special to me. I’ve probably watched that tape as many times was he went to see it in the theatre.
I feel May on the “nunsploitation” thing, I am a giant sucker for sacrilegious imagery. Like religious figures being possessed or being the antagonists, etc. I was actually really excited for the Nun movie since Valek is such a cool and unique villain, but they completely fumbled the ball with him 😔😔😔
Every time I finish one of your videos I end up with several new movies on my Checkout/Watch List. Thank you for discovering me so many great (or "interesting") movies!
That is the cross over that we deserve but will never see. Tiger King + Roar would require the invention of time travel and people would certainly die, but it would be one hell of a ride.
I can attest to the fact that, yes, you will actually attain a better quality of sleep after subscribing to this channel. I don't know how it works. I don't need to know.
"They remade "The Holy Mountain, but with other people's dog videos. And I know what you're thinking, "I bet that is coherent!" and you're wrong; it isn't."
May, we’d love to see an updated DVD graveyard video if you’ve added any to your collection! I am adding pieces all the time to my own collection and I’m so proud to have physical media in my possession.
I was just thinking last night "oh, it's almst a month since may posted. there might be a video coming soon." oh how right i was. very excited to watch.
I laughed when you mentioned Cannibal Holocaust because I met this guy who was a friend of my housemate at the time and he saw that I had Cannibal Holocaust in my collection so we ended up watching it together and started seeing each other until I moved.
i'M GONNA FUCKING CRY, SAME ACE AND I LOVE TO SEE IT! super good to have another video from you, may, hope you're doing well and taking care of yourself
Holy shit I just realized this video only came out a week ago and it caused me to binge watch your videos. I feel like I've been watching you for so much longer, thank you for such refreshing content for my eyes and soul.
holy shit. me and my boy best friend saw unarius on public access and we genuinely couldn't figure out if it was a cult, we couldn't tell, nothing came up when we looked up "unarius cult" or variations on that, and i forgot about it until now. thanks for mentioning them, i wanna check out their movies now
This video/channel popped up randomly in my recommendations, and wow, the UA-cam algorithm actually worked--I own so many of these. Lesbian nuns, greasy stranglers, Divine, Bjork, yes, yes, yes!
Okay my french is sub-par but from living in Quebec for 17 years, the title of that one does not necessarily imply a lack of consent. I can't imagine the film uhhh is much better than it would be otherwise, but,
Thank you for sharing some of your collection. We have a lot of the same tapes/discs. I don't currently have a Twitch account but the prospect of May movie nights could change that.
this video somehow slipped past me despite the upload notifications, and i'm happy to get round to it!! pleased to hear you mention cathy's curse again, been watching you for years and that old video made me & my best friend get a copy of it and watch it, it's still one of my favourite movie disasters ever
I love your taste in film! Everything Is Terrible do definitely deserve props. I was at a music festival in a holiday camp, on the camps internal TV system they used to show a lot of EIT stuff on a loop when they weren't showing music or people openly doing drugs in the little studio. It was amazing.
Always good to have multiple viewing options in your home. Also it's right and fair to buy secondhand Criterions, I got the Cassavetes set for 50 bucks - good as new - and it's usually worth $125!!
Re: Roar I have a regular house cat who's a little demon and bites me and scratches me all the time, and he's a whole 4.5kg in weight. I can't even imagine wanting to be that close to an untrained, unrestrained version of him that weighs 600kg.

Love your video, you keep things entertaining. Very impressive movie collection you have. Many titles I've never heard of. Im going to add a lot of these to my movie watch list for sure.
Night of the Hunter is the first movie I remember seeing Robert Mitchum in and, while he seems like a lovely person, he always scared me afterward. On second thought, Cape Fear didn't help.

I definitely think you should acquire physical media for favorite movies while you are able. We are in danger of losing the ability to watch obscure, indie, controversial, or outdated movies if we rely streaming services to provide them.
Completely agree, I would rather not allow a random Disney executive to decide what films we’re allowed to see.
With physical media, so long as it’s intact, it’s yours forever. No one can decide you have to pay monthly fees to view it, only for it to be cycled out of the catalogue for that month. Yeah, it’s sucks that the Criterion Collection charge you an exorbitant price for the blu rays themselves, but after that it’s yours forever.
"if you like black swan, you wont like it for much longer" omfg true
I am still a fan of physical media, but the fact that no one under boomer age can afford a house means that hauling an entire media collection between different apartments every 2-5 years can be a daunting proposition.
Yep and even if we’re not moving, we have smaller and smaller living spaces to fit into 🙁
Ehh, did you try like to work?
I also do not have a cd or DVD player .... but I uave cds and dvds
I’m in college, but when myself and my partner actually do go off on our own, our plan’s to mooch off the storage space of friends and family.
This is a good point
The experience of going from "A Serbian Film" right into "Cool Cat Saves the Kids" just SENT me
sometimes it's okay to have bootlegs. i bought a fake dvd with End of Evangelion because the only official release was a $400 VHS tape.
I feel like these could have been sorted into "Necrophilia" and "Somehow, Not Necrophilia, Sorry"
Cool Cat Saves The Kids is the second category. Probably.
The way you described your relationship with sex is exactly how I feel about it. I'm ace and I don't experience the horny feelings, but I'm so fascinated with it! Im so happy to be seeing another asexual person talk about this

thats true , i think the same. Greetz from Northerngermany
Big Money Hustlas is one of the ICP films. There's also Big Money Rustlas, the cowboy themed semi-remake.
I actually got to see Perfect Blue in theatres and it was fucking awesome. I still wish someone would step up and help get Satoshi Kon's final film finished.
Had to pause to go buy a Blu ray of Phantom of the Paradise cause I no longer live at home and can't watch my dad's VHS of it
At this point I have a digital version, but my dad’s VHS of Phantom will always be special to me. I’ve probably watched that tape as many times was he went to see it in the theatre.
May giving us aces with crushes on David Lynch the representation we need!
Who knew we were our own subculture all along
Watching this video super interested but at the same time thinking "damn I wish she'd show that vinyl collection behind her too" lol
maybe I'll do that next lol
I feel May on the “nunsploitation” thing, I am a giant sucker for sacrilegious imagery. Like religious figures being possessed or being the antagonists, etc. I was actually really excited for the Nun movie since Valek is such a cool and unique villain, but they completely fumbled the ball with him 😔😔😔
"Nun-exsploitation"
There are reasons I let May to lead me into the horrors I clearly am not ready for.
May looks so beautiful in this... love it
wild at heart is my fave lynch film, it's a symbol of my individuality, and my belief... in personal freedom

When people first started talking about tiger king I thought it was something like roar...
I thought it was fictional, learned it wasn’t, and immediately lost interest.
That is the cross over that we deserve but will never see. Tiger King + Roar would require the invention of time travel and people would certainly die, but it would be one hell of a ride.
Your review of Hereditary was when I first started watching your channel. Would LOVE another take from you on it!
May! MELANIE GRIFFITH was one of the people who was injured in Roar!
It's what started her plastic surgery.
Is she the one that an elephant broke her leg on camera?
@@marreco6347 no, that was her mother, tippi hedren (🤦 what a ridiculous flick)
This video is basically a shopping list for me.

ur hair has big "haley williams but make it botticelli" vibes
Loving the cameo from Veronica Squishmallow, protector of the the Blu Rays

May, the way you describe why it is you own two copies of Ilsa makes you out like some sort of cinematic sin-eater.
Both The Church and Cemetery Man are by the same director and both are peak Italian horror, highly recommend you watching them!
+ The Sect and Stage Fright. Michele Soavi doesn't have a bad horror film, heh
Our taste in movies is so different, but you're so engaging that I still like to listen to you talking about these
i am rewatching all your videos love you may. twin peaks fire walk with me criterion edition is ….stunning. the blu ray really makes it for me

Love your work! I can't believe The Love Witch is from 2016! It looks for all the world like a movie made in the late 1960's.
How have I not heard of your channel until now? Those DOLEMITE blu-rays look pretty awesome!
I was just thinking last night "oh, it's almst a month since may posted. there might be a video coming soon." oh how right i was. very excited to watch.
