@@Icyfighter2000 from a family friend who had connections to boxing and mma. I didn't know him very well he came over one night with his family and a few others. He was chill polite and we talked a bit about boxing and mentioned a few of his favorite mma fighters one of them being Junior Dos Santos. Khabib's manager at the time was Rizvan Magomedov who I think also brought Magomed Absulamov over to fight boxing. So they all know each other in the boxing and mma world. Being from Dagestan not many other Dagestanis in the US so everyone is close to each other . Khabib was a relatively unknown fighter at the time he could have came over too but he was training in New Jersey at the time.
Boxing is so dangerous.
MMA is better and safer as well - and more entertaining unless its a boring crotch sniffer
I often refer to this fight to other people, "If Magomed was told before the fight how it all would turn out, would he still have fought that night?" Hard to say... "Boxers gotta Box", and if you remember his speech after the fight, he sounded so thankful for the chance at MSG.

Such a sad story.. Watched him coming up.. He was such an exciting puncher but his defense was very naive.. Especially for heavyweight boxing.. It was obvious his cheekbone was crushed.. In my opinion that injury should lead to technical ko for Perez but Mago was a warrior and kept fighting.. He took shots all night to that injury what definetly led to the blood clot in his brain..
If you ever fought or sparred hard than you know what kind of brutal headache you get after you took some bombs.. You're literally playing with your life.. I would've taken him out the fight early because you could see Perez was taking Magos punches good so you knew it had to be a war he has to go through..
The skull can take more shots but you definitely risk a brain damage.. Both didn't land to many stiff "one two's" on the chin.. But to ko someone you better target the chin..
However I pray his health status makes some improvement.. What a tragedy😔
