I love their pipe band uniforms. If I were to picture how an Irish regimental pipe and drum band ought to dress, the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment Pipes and Drums is exactly what I would love to see and hear. I'm proud to be of both Scottish and Irish decent. Alba go bragh! Erin gu brach!
Great performance. Can anyone tell me the tune (medley) being played at the opening especially between 40 sec and repeated a couple of times up to around 1:20? My father using to sing it to lyrics 'may the glorious apostle send down the black bottle and give us a treat on St. Patrick's Day" I guessing those are alternate lyrics to whatever march they are playing. Any one out there help out?
Jim Lyons. The first piece together is called 'Old set of Regimental Marches'. In order, Rory O'More/St. Patrick's day/Gary Owen. The march is called this as all these tunes have been either in the old 8 infantry regiments as part of their Regimental Marches/Regimental tunes or in their Regimental playoff. This is why St. Patrick's day is the Regimental March of HM Irish guards. As it was the one all the regiments performed in their old regiments at the time of its creation. Hope that this helps.
