Austin announced Wednesday that the United States would halt a shipment of weapons to Israel containing payload munitions due to reservation regarding an attack on Rafah.
“We’ve been very clear,” Austin said told reporters, “that Israel shouldn’t launch a major attack in Rafah without accounting for and protecting the civilians in that battle space.”"

Apart from all the other reasons this is stupid, the US was at war with Japan when it dropped the nukes; the US is not at war with Hamas. It's worth noting that all these freaks who bang on about the free market are getting mad when the US decides not to continue selling weapons to Israel (using our own money). So an individual businessperson can refuse to serve gay customers because they think gays are icky, but a government can't refuse to sell weapons to a government that is using those weapons to commit genocide? The bombs had nothing to do with not invading Japan. Japan had basically surrendered, and the bombs were used to send a signal to Russia as to who the world superpower was.
Don't forget the internment camps they set up and shipped as many japanese American citizens as they could find to them.

There is debate on whether or not dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was necessary. Japan may have been ready to surrender due to the Soviet Union's joining the allies. Many military leaders believed it was not warranted.

Japan Had been attempting to negotiate terms of surrender for several weeks before the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Many believe Truman ordered the atomic bombs dropped more to intimidate Stalin than to force a Japanese surrender (because total defeat of Japan was a done deal by then).

The correct answer is - yes the attacks on Japanese civilian targets in World War II were war crimes. You can weasel around with words all you like, but if deliberate targeting of civilians in a war constitutes a war crime, then the US committed war crimes during World War II. The historical record leaves no doubt on that fact.
Sure - all the other parties in that war committed war crimes as well. That is irrelevant. If you cant look into the mirror of history and admit your own mistakes, then youll never have the moral standing to criticise the mistakes of others.
