This is a Traditional Fish curry and is very authentic in it's origin. It's loaded with flavour and when served with steaming hot rice it is never enough. It goes well with chapatis, idlis and dosas as well. My grandma's fish curry is simply the best. Try it and you will know. 😊

I am learning East Indian cooking from you tube. I am making fish curry tonight and came across your video. I am in Canada so I do not have fresh coconut so I will use coconut cream instead. I also do not have anything but toasted sesame oil so I will leave it out. I expect it will still be delicious 🤤

This is how I usually cook fish, but instead of sesame oil, I use mustard oil and love it! I also enjoy it with rice and roti.
When next I'm cooking fish, I'll also cook some cabbage as you did. I usually add a chopped tomato when I'm cooking cabbage. I love cabbage and roti, but I've never eaten it with rice. I must try it with rice.

Heat oil in a pan, add 1/2 tsp mustard, 1/2 tsp urad dal, 1/2 tsp cumin, fry them a bit. Add some curry leaves, 5 to 6 cloves of garlic crushed, 2 green chillies chopped saute, then add 1 onion sliced, saute till translucent. Then add 1/4 tsp Asafoetida mix well. Then add 500gms of cabbage that is thinly sliced. Saute it lightly. Then onces it reduces in quantity it means it is cooked. Then add salt as per your requirement. Mix well. Then add cooked mung beans. ( I had washed & soaked abt 2 tblsp of mung beans/ moong dal in India, for 1/2 hr, then cooked the soaked beans in some water for 10 mins with a pinch of turmeric pd added to it. This is what I added to the cooked cabbage) saute, add 2 tblsp of freshly grated coconut. Saute for 2 mins and your cabbage poriyal is ready.
