Who else feels like the laziest person in the world now?
Edit: 23K likes later - I’m so happy to see I’m in good company! Also, I’d like to add for those who commented about how these videos are made...I am well aware of the magic of editing, that this girl probably had some help, and this didn’t happen in a day. But it’s no less inspirational! Nor does that fact negate my feelings that I could do more on any given day. :) Carpe Diem, UA-cam friends!

That's such a beautiful and charming comment. We did something similar as my friend Debby D. and I would play around the old Crabapple tree* that grew between her parents' and her grandparents' house when we were little kids. (*There were also many other trees around the front and back of each house, as well as Climbing flowers, some I think were roses. I loved that place as a child, and only just now began thinking of just how much that place influenced the types of architecture and plants and landscaping that I love so much. This will require further thought!) That old twisted tree have the place this feeling of being very old. The houses weren't, but the way the tree twisted every which-way seemed to me like it must've been quite old, being all rough and craggy and dark. I remember how the bark was so dark after the rain, and it always thrilled me in some way. (I wasn't even ten years old, yet.) You put that feeling so well, thank you. (I just looked it up on Google Earth; the houses are there, but most of the trees are gone. That was a long time ago, so I kind of figured.) (It still sucks, though. 😔)

@@bodybalancer The way that sap was dripping from the branch, she would've had to to stand there for days, making sure the cut didn't dry out in order to get an amount of paint enough to cover even one square on that floor. I'm pretty sure they faked some of this although it's technically possible. I mean, do you believe that this video was captured naturally in 1080p by the forest? I was born in the Philippines. I don't remember ever having made paint from green leaves and rubber tree sap. Normally you'd have to boil that sap down in order for it to be of any use as latex paint. Not to mention the fact that rubber latex isn't generally water soluble. Notice also that they didn't show her doing the roof all by herself. It's a nice thought but this video is totally contrived. I mean, doing this is possible but there are a lot of things that weren't accounted for. Where did she get the concrete mix? Did she burn up 500 kilios of shells for the lime? Did she really spend 9 hours straight carrying water from the river to the little pool to fill it up with that little earthenware jug?

After 16 years my parents wanted to get rid of our built in full size pool. I as a 16 yr old girl, after the frame was gone I removed most of the columns that framed the pool and busted up the cement with a pick axe. I was into Roman anthology at the time so I left some columns, made a path with the broken concrete and built a curved bridge to span where the deep end of the pool had been. Then I covered the sand with moss and other plants like she did with the turf. It was by no means a professional job, but I liked the outcome and that I had done it alone.

The major difference is that everyone else uses crews and machinery off-camera.
Primitive Technology shows every step of the process (building an axe, making the molds for bricks, making bricks out of clay, building a kiln...) and explains everything in captions. All of those steps are the real knowledge that videos like this masquerade as.

How long do you believe it would take for a woman to build this single-handed, filming as she goes, checking footage, changing /charging batteries and SD cards, stopping to collect the camera along the way? How many trips to the river to collect 5L of water to fill a pool that size? How many trips to the termite mound? If you think you could do this as a "survival" shelter with nowhere to rest and no food, you had better hope there is a MacD and a hotel nearby. And if just one of those unattended torches falls over, its all gone ... I will give you six months! Good luck!

Just because she is not wearing shoes people assume she is uneducated and primitive. This is a beautiful strong and independent woman who loves and respects the nature and challenges. She must have vast knowledge in engineering as everything is perfect and windows fit perfectly even the pool was perfect geometric shape. I am sure she had some help to dig and cut all that branches and has taken many days to finish the project. I admire her creative ideas and her courage to make such a video to encourage others. She gives hope to many people. Bravo she has my admiration.

@Vestra Watery paint... hmm. I wonder what you could add to paint to make it watery or... thinner? I don't know, I guess it must be legit then. Surely, it is far easier to mash up all the leaves necessary to create all that paint than it is to buy a few cans and dilute them, right?
