I agree. It just seems broken at this point. It feels like it should be more like the unflirty trait right? Like it's more difficult to get a relationship started, but your sim hasn't been nerfed completely.

honestly him getting detention for being late to class right outside the door honestly is strangely accurate depending on the teacher
To be fair, I've seen that happen before at my own school. A lot of the teachers were angry old people who had 0 tolerance for anything (this also included a few good things, like them not tolerating bullies).
Also, I believe Veronica’s interactions with Kevin are usually bad because he also has the socially awkward trait!
If it makes you feel any better Kayla, I went to my prom while recovering from whooping cough, had to wear a mask (long before C19 was a thing) and couldn't dance at all, my entire class completely ditched me because everyone arrived with random boyfriends, my other friends got drunk and couldn't hold a conversation, and it was overall one of the most boring and least memorable nights of my life.
I didn't have a date, so I went with my mom's friend's kid who never went to his own. We met the NIGHT of prom. I hated my dress. I hated my hair and shoes. Danced once. Was mostly uninterested. Best part of the night was when my mom picked me up and we got McDonald's lol
turns out me and my date were uhhhh both queer, that would have been fun had we both known about each other 😅

prom was dull and my friends almost overdosed on drugs afterwards (20mg of PCP, which they did not realize was too much). i went home early after they forgot my mcdonalds order beforehand (it was the only thing i was looking forward to that night). i completely relate on the last point- it was unbelievably boring and unmemorable.
all these stories sound like a sims glitch. and the drugs part is awful. i was a loner in HS living vicariously thru the sims 2 instead of going to proms, i had no real friends and guys didnt talk to me, but they did tell me i was beautiful atleast 😔 one time a black boy told me i was pretty, that was memorable i guess

I really hope they toned down the socially awkward trait in the final software and fixed how unreasonable the principal is with giving out detention. Thus far those seem to be the main two issues with the pack. It looks like so much fun to play though, especially prom.
I feel like the awkward trait should work like this:
-They start with an 70% chance of makimf awkward interactions
-The more they talk with people the percentage goes lower and lower
-If they stop talking with people the percentage can go up
-The lowest it could get would be around 20% (so the trait is still present)
I feel like otherwise the sim is borderline unplayable
I’m so excited for this pack, the legacy challenge player in me is sobbing of joy
I've been doing the not so berry challenge, and my current next gen just became a teen, so I stopped playing until this pack comes out. It's going to be so much fun ^^ I feel so impatient xD

Can I just say I love how the sims you create are always so diverse and non-stereotypical, like face-wise, body-wise, style-wise and personality-wise?? I'm always so happy to see all the different kinds of representation 🥺
They aren’t that diverse. I see a lot of people praising little simsie for diversity and she does good but, she cycles through either black white gay or lesbian and there’s way more than that.. from a queer trans Muslim poc

@@rawfermews4186 I think, also, she's praised for "body diversity" when she does a really basic "overweight and pair shaped" build. I've never seen her make a character with a body like mine (afab, very thin, very small breasts), and she doesn't even, like, switch up the bodytypes of her heavier set sims either---like I said, they're always pear shaped.
Also, I find it... weird how all, or at least most, of her non-binary sims have unnaturally dyed hair. If she frequently used unnatural hair colours in all her sims, I wouldn't think twice, but it seems to be almost exclusively the nbs, which also doesn't feel like great representation.
Does she have more representation than a lot of people? Yes... But let's be honest, her gay amab sim here is a Cheerleader. It's SO stereotypical I was disappointed. It, honestly, would have been more refreshing to have him be a straight cheerleader, or to have him be gay and be on the football team. It feels very much like it's playing on classic stereotypes, and I don't love it

9:11 It says Henry discovered Malcom's sexual orientation. I'm curious about whether it lines up with him asking Henry out just like Ash asking Veronica out? So far that's the biggest bug that bothers me, getting asked out by a sim that doesn't swing that way.

wait that’d be amazing. i have (unmedicated) social anxiety, and i find it a lot easier to talk to people if i’m feeling confident, and as long as i have something interesting to talk about and don’t stumble over my words too much, it’s much easier to talk to people. but it’d be a miracle if the sims team thought of this when designing the trait.
Hopefully, I think given how hard the trait is it would be good gameplay for them to add workarounds instead of making your sim impossible to progress with!
In James Turner's let's play his social awkward sim also won prom king which I'm not sure if is a coincidence or not? Maybe it's a thing that only your sim votes then they win.
I can't wait for people to start making high schools based on TV shows and characters too.
The fact that she won prom queen without even trying, I'm so hyped for this pack to come out.
Because of the bugs? Because thats what caused this, same way she did less well in the exams than her brother despite studying more.

@@troll4life662 yeah but the difference with that is that pack was completely broken 😭 in this one it actually works, and the bugs aren't bugs that make the pack unplayable so it's not a huge issue either way

This is like an awesome rom com idea. Brother doesn’t think sister has what it takes to be popular, and she proves him wrong by beating him at his own goals (cheerleading, prom royalty) and get the guy in the end

I never even went to my HS prom, none of my friends felt like it. So we just kinda chilled out together. Despite us not doing anything super crazy or special activity I had an amazing time! I don't regret it at all
The only thing I'm still missing in Sims 4 is the memory mechanic from Sims 2, it was so nice to build up a whole story with your Sims and them actually remembering it, and seeing their different thoughts/reactions on events and achievements based on their personalities. Everything in the Sims 4 seems unimpactful in the long run.
i'm actually curious is the attraction system (like an npc sim asking you out, asking you to be their partner, etc), is it only for teens or can it also be for young adults and adults?
I'm sorry, but Veronica is literally Tina Fey's character from 30 Rock in that reunion episode, and nothing can convince me otherwise.

Honestly, that wouldn't surprise me a bit. She thinks she's the victim but actually she's been bullying everyone else??? In my mind, her brother is a super nice, genuine guy, and she's just the worst
The socially awkward trait seems to make your sim introverted but instead of the sim being uncomfortable in public everyone else around her gets uncomfortable instead, maybe its a bug they will hopefully fix before release
I don’t think it’s the bug I think it’s meant to be like that because if your having a conversation and it goes wrong you and the other person would feel uncomfortable and want to end the conversation right away.

Socially Awkward does not mean introverted or uncomfortable in public, it means awkward in social situations. Having their social interactions not go as planned/expected is more accurate than if they made the sim uncomfortable themselves. There are plenty of people who are confident and/or extraverted who are also awkward

@@MidnightXRanma I do agree that when you have a strong relationship with someone (good friend, super siblings etc) it doesn't make sense to have your interactions fail. I'm a socially awkward extravert with ADHD and I know that when I'm with my brothers or my closest friends they know what to expect so I have a much easier time having good interactions with them. It would also tie in to the trait supposedly giving powerful moodlets when with close relationships

Photo booth Whoo-hoo: Sims 2 nod! I have been so happy seeing these nods to the previous Sims games. I think death by meteorite was a nod to the death by satellite... if so, I like how they implemented it in Sims 4.
I wonder if the prom royalty going to a currently played Sim is a glitch... James' socially awkward Sim who is hated by everyone also won. He also worried about it being a prank being pulled on his Sim.

I'm glad you are having a lot of fun playing this. Watching James' LP just a while ago... the Sims can be frustrating enough as it is... add in the problems one can have controlling their Sims with all the "perks" of being a teen... Nightmare fuel.

Hey! One of my friends had a panic attack at a Valentine’s Day dance in high school so we all called our parents and said we’d be home late because we left the dance early and went to see La La Land instead 😂 Honestly that’s one of my favorite memories from high school because we all got home after curfew and our parents didn’t mind

At my homeschool prom my “friends” ditched me and I was left alone while everyone was with their boyfriends/girlfriends. I hated my prom.
i never even went. and i was a loner. guys never talked to me. i was depressed and played TS2 after school. and i was bullied badly at university.. so.. us rejects are out there.. thats why i played ts2 and ts3 for 10000s of hours XD

The prom queen felt like a Carrie situation but we would have heard by now if a prank like that existed. It's definitely a bug because there's no way she'd become queen (sorry Veronica) given how everything has gone for her. Much like the cheerleaing "win", a socially awkward sim would never boldly enter a cheer competition and beat her brother who literally won a trophy the day before. I'm not as excited as I was about the pack with so many bugs or if these aren't bugs and the gameplay doesn't add up.

I didn't realize how recently fears were introduced. It's weird for me to imagine a year ago, Sims weren't lighting every single meal on fire. Or that Sims at the top of their career, making a ton of money and traveling to alien worlds, weren't constantly coming home with the fear of dead end job.
I wonder how two socially awkward Sims get along with each other.

Maybe the socially awkward trait should have also had some extra/altered options like “awkward pickup line” or “make an awkward joke” as well that still have the option to increase relationship. Then it would be fun to get a buff like “still funny: they laughed at my awkward joke” when it goes well and then a negative embarrassed buff when it’s not successful

Playing a socially awkward Sim looks as hard as having a Sims 2 shy Sim. The concept is good, but interactions are so frustrating.
Am the only one who noticed how ornate and jeweled the crown looks? And also how there's even a prom jester? I've seen a comment on another youtuber's video of the trailer that it seems to hint towards a royalty pack. I've been obsessing over this possibility for weeks!
For some reason prom isn’t working for me, its not even listed in the calendar. I still got a message that prom is coming up, still got to invite my prom date etc and even got invited to a meetup before prom, but prom itself was never triggered for me. The whole time I was like „okay so when does it start? Do I have to go there myself orrr…?“
My prom was awesome. It was held at the science museum, so my friends and I just played around on the exhibits all night. I didn't dance at all 😅

This seems like a lot of fun. I hated real life high school but this would be fun. It's weird the things that can catch fire in the Sims. It's one thing for stoves and grills to catch fire but toilets and beds? lol
