Alister was a Targaryan loyalist who fought against Robert and Ned's army when they went against the mad King. After the war, Ned sent him to the wall when he wouldn't bend the knee to Robert as new king. So, Jon being Ned's bastard son is getting extra hate. Just to let y’all know, the Gods of Westeros are separated into 2 groups. The Seven, or the gods of the Andals (a group of men that invaded thousands of years ago, from which almost all the people of Westeros are descended) and the “Old” Gods, which are the gods of the First Men, the men who were natives to Westeros, from which the Starks are descended. (And most of the North) The Seven are the official faith of the Crown, and are worshipped in septs (essentially churches) and the “Old Gods” are worshipped in the Godswood, the places where the white trees with red leaves are. (And sometimes the trees have crying faces, called heart trees) This is often why when someone swears an important oath they say “By the Old Gods and the New” referring to both the old faith, and the Seven, so as to guarantee they swear by whatever gods they personally worship. There are however, a number of other gods that are worshipped in the rest of the world, including “Death”, as Syrio puts it, and the “Great Stallion”, whom the Dothraki worship.
That's the funny thing, had they not tried to keep killing Dany, it more than likely would have taken much longer for her to convince Drogo to cross the Narrow Sea. Their repeated attempts at her and her unborn childs life are what really galvanized the Khal imo.
33:23 If Ned had made the decision to take over the crown yes Littlefinger would have sided with him. It was because of Ned's honor stopping him from doing this that Littlefinger chose to betray him. He didn't always want to betray Ned but was left with no choice because of his lack of commitment and Cersei taking power.
love that you guys compliment the moderators' work. I am of the era when youtube reactions were people performing youtube confessionals sitting on a busted couch in their dimly lit basement with no editing - it's so much more work now. Anyone who loves Charles Dance (Tywin) & wants a weird, funny watch should check out his turn as the Phantom of the Opera in a 1990 miniseries.
He's also great in the 2011 film "Your Highness", a medieval fantasy stoner movie with Danny McBride and James Franco. He basically plays the same part, the stern disapproving father-king with the same disdainful dead-eyed stare.
32:39 There is Pudgey what Cersei did is treason and punishable by death. But since she is in power who is going to enforce that? It's like Littlefinger said "Its only treason if we lose"
Great job guys, as usual :D no shame in missing some lore here, there is so much happening in each scene that it can actually take a few rewatches to understand it all. That is just how GoT is
31:33 Jason Momoa absolutely dominates that scene where Drogo makes his speech. In a fictional language (!). I feel like he's soo good and natural in that role people don't stop long enough to appreciate how hard that role is.
It makes me sick that there are people that either get off on ruining things for others or just can’t keep their mouths shut. I know a few people like that.
8:04 Bruh I had the same reaction as Pudgey 😂 9:45 Her calling him out on it had me dead aswell. Meanwhile him with the "You say alot of things I don't listen to" lmfao.
Bronn helped Tyrion in his trial by combat because he is a sellsword. Sellswords are ultimately assassins of war but they will fight for whatever side pays more money. Thats the gist, they are money obsessed, Bronn fought for Tyrion in the Vale because he knows the reputation of the Lannisters and understood that if he won the trial by combat for Tyrion he would hook him up with a lot of riches. His decision to fight wasn't random by any means.
If you watched the recent HOTD ep, you'll see that the new gods (the faith of the 7) start becoming more of an influence in the capital, and eventually the realm, because of Alicent Hightower.
In the books, Aegon I, the first Targaryen ruler of Westeros, was the one to start to embrace the Faith of the 7 because he saw it as a way to win over the population so they would accept his rule.
Another set of great reactions! Thank you! I feel for Eddard "Ned" Stark. He is a deeply honorable man in a world that so often lacks honor. It's difficult for honorable (and honest) people to interact with people who lack (or even reject) honor or honesty.
I love watching your reactions and when i hear some of the comments you make about certain characters I literally have to stop myself from feeling sorry for you and trying to soften some blows as you make your way through the show. Shakes head. I will not spoil the shocks, pains or anything else that you will experience.
I will never understand the joy some people get from spoiling a show for others. I will bide my time to point things out until after they come to fruition and point back to them. But I do not speak of events which have yet to occur by the episode I am responding to. The most I will otherwise say is something such as there are better and worse episodes ahead. Which is pretty much true of virtually any show with any notable length left.
little finger told Ned long ago "the smartest thing you ever done was not trust me" also fun fact the animal the Lannister was skinning was real(road kill) and that was his first scene....hell of a start!
Guys you like catch on pretty quick, even the little things, very intalligent! Ned's honor is most well remembered,2 great episodes ahead of you,and after that you wont be able to stop GOT ever :D
Varys was implying that the timing of Robert's fatal wound was not accidental. Ned had just made some moves against the Lannisters by summoning Tywin to answer for Gregor Clegane's crimes and telling Cersei to take her children and run. So Robert's squire being a Lannister and maybe giving Robert too much to drink too quickly during a boar hunt so that he was too drunk to avoid getting gored by the boar was suspiciously convenient for the Lannisters.
Varys words seem to suggest that Lancel Lannister knowingly made sure King Robert was drunk while hunting so he wouldnt be focused enough and that such an "accident" with the boar can happen. I don't know if Varys knew it for a fact, but its obvious Varys suspects this and shares it with Ned and Ser Barriston Selmy.
My boy Bobby B may have died a pathetic death, but the 🐗 was said to be monstrous in size. Imagine the HotD hunting party scene where Viserys killed a seized hart. Robert on the other hand ordered his men to stand back and took the boar head-on and killed it despite him getting gored in the process, all while being intoxicated. His phrase "gods i was strong back then" was true, Robert in his prime was a beast wielding a warhammer and one of the best fighters winning himself the throne, it was known as Robert's Rebellion.
Been a busy week but I finally got to watch this. It's really interesting to see both your surprised reactions and see that they're totally for different reasons. While Pudgy catches on more to the political intrigue and moves, the final actions still surprise her and it's fun to watch. Spartan, on the other hand, seems to expect everyone to act out of honor and then gets absolutely floored by the dishonorable outcomes and it's hilarious! I'd say Spartan is the most "Ned-like" of the pair. Both bring me great joy and amusement to watch! This episode you finally witnessed the great Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister! You'll find he's one of the best actors playing one of the most interesting characters. You'll absolutely love him in all scenes, even while being firmly against him. He steals there show everytime he appears.
Guysss this is how I discovered you on YT and ever since I love to pop your channel on in the background when I do my uni work (i study film so it’s definitely not distracting… is it? 😂) but seriously I love hearing you both bounce of each other!!
i totaly blame this one Eddart ----> he had multiple good options - cercei offered to let eddard go - litle finger gave him two option 1. let joffrey have the throne (and plot somthing) - 2. side with Renly ------> Renly has enormous amounts of power --- a big army and many great allys with Eddarts power they could force the lenisters to give up
You guys are so engaging. There's just something about the way you interact with the material and each other. Kudos and please don't change anything (unless you want to)
As Tywin said in the episode, it's all about perception. If the people perceive that Joffrey is King, then he's the King. Littlefinger is extra sneaky in this episode. He makes a great villain.
The girl they captured (actually all of the ones that attacked Bran) is what they call a Wildling. They're actually what's mostly found north of the Wall. They're just people, I guess you could call them savages, though some of the tribes are more savage than others, but they're still people.
In the North, at least when it comes to the Starks and the lesser houses allied to them, being a member of the Night's Watch was an honor, even though the nobility of the more southerly kingdoms consider it a punishment. (And, well, it often is, but not for the volunteers like Jon.)
Good i have seen so many reactors complaining about spoilers. Glad you got some help with that. Really enjoying your reactions. I watch HOD too but GOT is a real masterpiece.
I always thought that to a warlord like drogo, if she had told him "oh by the way my family flew on 100 foot tall fire breathing reptiles and sat on a giant chair made out of the swords of their enemies in a room with too many swords to count" he would have actually taught his horse to run on water to go sit in it.
Fun Fact! The scene where Viserys tries to take the eggs and Jonah doesn't let him. He repeats Viserys words "yet 'Here I Stand'. Book Easter Egg, those are the words of Jorahs house. :)
It's sickening that people are trying to spoil you. I just can't understand why they would do that. I always think that the moment when Jorah realises he want to stay with Dany, rather than go home, should have a bit more drama about it. I have seen people, who haven't grasped that Jorah's been spying, not realise that anything has happened. Instead he has given up his dream for the Khaleesi.
Why would Jorah come back anyway? After being disgraced and shamed, running away, left by his wife. His only honorable option would be to go to the Wall. Fuck that life imma also stay in the east where the action is 😂😂
@@znk0r you think just because someone was pardoned, people are gonna welcome them back gladly? Just like bastards can be legitimized, that does not remove the stain ever
I guess we could have had Jorah talking to the boy who gave him the note. But otherwise there isn't really anyone that he can talk to about his spying. He can't even talk to Varys about it since he plans to betray Varys and support Dany. And he can't talk to Dany about it because if she knew he had spied on her in the past, she would reject him.
Ned is just too honorable for King’s Landing lol Varys tried to warn him subtly that he misses, Renly tried to do the same and then got the hell outta dodge cause he knew Ned was gonna lose, and Littlefinger betrayed him when he didn’t go for seat himself. Poor man lost as soon as he told Cersei what he was planning 🫡
Littlefinger : Where is duty? Where is sacrifice? You tripped on your pretty foot again!! Ned : Now they see you as you are!! It's only right😆😆. It's the same dagger. This is like the Forrest Gump of Westerosi daggers.
its other way around . ned is in alicent's role of being threat to heir/illegitimate children. only unlike ned alicent decided to play the game and basically took the offer littlefinger made to ned in private.

Littefinger was calculating. Ned’s action/inaction changed the calculus for him and therefore the route he took.

I must admit I really look forward to your GoT reactions

One funny casting bit: in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, Charles Dance has a small role as a henchman, while the main villain is played by Julian Glover, who plays Grand Maester Pycelle in this show, switching their positions.
Wow, it is hard to imagine the guy that plays Pycelle as a Bond villain. 🤣
@@suddenimpulse030 He was also a Stormtrooper in Empire Strikes Back.
@@s1lm4r1l6 He may be the actor in the most big franchises of anyone. James Bond, Indiana Jones, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones...
Just want to thank the moderators again. I've said it a couple times before but it really can't be said enough. With out you guys the reactions we get would be nowhere near as good as they are. So THANK YOU very much!!!

Yeah, I'm so glad your community is growing so fast. GoT helps a lot but you really deserve it. I've been here since you started The Boys and gone back to watch all your other reactions and knew it was just a matter of time before the channel took off. Seems like you add 1k subs with every video now. So happy for yall!
You reactions are so much fun! You are our sweet summer children!!😍😍
All this time and I still cannot get over how perfect the casting for Tywin is.
Pudgey is a legend for being able to follow and make those guesses
Also R'hllor, the Lord of Light. Which is the faith of the Free Cities and most of Essos.
@@soulscyther666 There are lots of religions in Essos that don't get talked about much.
This was the comment to be said
love that you guys compliment the moderators' work.
They really do treat us well. They are great reactors and we enjoy helping them out. =)
@@suddenimpulse030 It's so nice to have all the different work that goes into this lovely channel recognized!
He's also great in the 2011 film "Your Highness", a medieval fantasy stoner movie with Danny McBride and James Franco. He basically plays the same part, the stern disapproving father-king with the same disdainful dead-eyed stare.
@@stanmann356 I haven’t seen! I will be checking this out ha- love Charles Dance & Danny McBride is a genius as well- thanks!
32:39 There is Pudgey what Cersei did is treason and punishable by death. But since she is in power who is going to enforce that?
It's like Littlefinger said "Its only treason if we lose"
treason doth never prosper
Great job guys, as usual :D no shame in missing some lore here, there is so much happening in each scene that it can actually take a few rewatches to understand it all. That is just how GoT is
There was so much happening just in this one episode; I'd forgotten. It's definitely a lot to keep track of.
"When you play the Game of Thrones you win or you die there's no middle ground" those lines are legendary
Spartan and pudgy are full on invested I can tell LOL this show is unpredictable you guys are in for quite a ride!
Joffrey in his peak on the throne yelling
Pudgey: Quiet!
Hahahaha
31:33 Jason Momoa absolutely dominates that scene where Drogo makes his speech. In a fictional language (!). I feel like he's soo good and natural in that role people don't stop long enough to appreciate how hard that role is.
It makes me sick that there are people that either get off on ruining things for others or just can’t keep their mouths shut. I know a few people like that.
Some are arseholes but most just don't realise that mentioning a character survives next episode is already a spoiler.
The whole time watching this reaction I kept saying as if you could hear me, "Oh, my sweet sweet summer children!"
Right now Robert is probably the one with the best in GOT, he was even able to laugh at the ridiculous way he died.
I forgot how good season 1 was. This is quality content
8:04 Bruh I had the same reaction as Pudgey 😂
9:45 Her calling him out on it had me dead aswell.
I couldn’t wait any longer for you to upload to UA-cam so I HAD to join your patreon. Keep it up guys!! I look forward to your uploads every week.
I really enjoy both of your commentary on this series dispite the occasional " yeah Narr " " oh Narrs ".
Another set of great reactions! Thank you! I feel for Eddard "Ned" Stark. He is a deeply honorable man in a world that so often lacks honor. It's difficult for honorable (and honest) people to interact with people who lack (or even reject) honor or honesty.
Neds honor and his expectation that others would respect it really hurt him.
12:34 "I still find the wall so cool". Well, it is made of ice...
Catelyn Stark originally betrothed to Ned Stark’s brother but the Mad King burn him so they betrothed her to Ned
it is so interesting watching you watch this and speculating and having theories and me knowing what is going to happen
it's disturbing how much you both resonated with Tywin lmao
If Roberts brother Stannis heard Jaime, he would have corrected him "couldn't care less".
I just spent 3 hours binging you guys watching GOT lmao this shit is so fire.
OMG my favorite channel these days. I get so excited to see your reactions. You have great insight.

"ok clam down now"
best reaction haha
I love watching your reactions and when i hear some of the comments you make about certain characters I literally have to stop myself from feeling sorry for you and trying to soften some blows as you make your way through the show. Shakes head. I will not spoil the shocks, pains or anything else that you will experience.
Right?! Oh man, they are in for a ride 😆
They watched it epi 9 is on their patreon
That's the fun of it.
Loving these reactions. I’m definitely in for the entire series if you guys plan on doing the full show.
Cercei said the name of the series and name of the episode in one sentence.
Great reaction guys. The show is amazing. Congrats on just about 2k more to reach your 25 thousand subscriber goal! 👍
I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the rest of this seasons reactions!!!😂😂. You guys are awesome!!!❤
Littlefinger: “Distrusting me was the wisest thing you’ve done since you climbed off your horse.”
Love your guys reaction to this and HotD. Keep it up! Not posting spoilers but cannot wait for some of the HUGE episodes! :D

You can blame Ros the redhead for that lol
House Mormont: Here We Stand
House Slynt: We Stand Behind You
Varys words seem to suggest that Lancel Lannister knowingly made sure King Robert was drunk while hunting so he wouldnt be focused enough and that such an "accident" with the boar can happen. I don't know if Varys knew it for a fact, but its obvious Varys suspects this and shares it with Ned and Ser Barriston Selmy.
I'll always loved this episode for introducing the the legendary TYWIN LANNISTER!
Looking forward to your reaction to the end of this season. The payoffs are so great throughout the series.
"I did warn you not to trust me" was just delivered so well man
Been a busy week but I finally got to watch this.
I was waiting for that reaction to the ending of the episode, well worth the wait.
Guysss this is how I discovered you on YT and ever since I love to pop your channel on in the background when I do my uni work (i study film so it’s definitely not distracting… is it? 😂) but seriously I love hearing you both bounce of each other!!
i totaly blame this one Eddart
----> he had multiple good options
-
cercei offered to let eddard go
-
litle finger gave him two option
1. let joffrey have the throne (and plot somthing)
-
2. side with Renly ------> Renly has enormous amounts of power --- a big army and many great allys
with Eddarts power they could force the lenisters to give up
Omg Spartan your double head spike motion regarding Cersei and Joffrey was DARK 🤣😂....someone is getting a taste for bloodshed and vengeance 👀
You guys are so engaging. There's just something about the way you interact with the material and each other. Kudos and please don't change anything (unless you want to)
Thank you! we wont change ❤🙏🏼
Yall give great commentary, the accents are soothing as well lol
I watch HOD too but GOT is a real masterpiece.
the scene of Ned confronting Joffrey in the throne room and being betrayed by Littlefinger is my favourite scene in the whole series
It's one of my favorites as well. Every time I rewatch it, I get the same feeling in my stomach knowing what's about to go down.
Instead he has given up his dream for the Khaleesi.
to me that's the beauty of GOT: things that are so subtle that most people don't even see it. I actually use this as a social compass lol
Why would Jorah come back anyway? After being disgraced and shamed, running away, left by his wife. His only honorable option
would be to go to the Wall. Fuck that life imma also stay in the east where the action is 😂😂
@@AllTheArtsy he's been pardoned he would integrate the court as a loyal servant.
Johah chose sides at that moment by stopping the poisoned wine...
8:10 pudgy thinking where you been? Lol loved the reaction
30:48 "That's a big one to digest"
Oh you sweet, sweet summer child...
This girl is absolutely beautiful!! Such a great smile! Great reactions you guys, looks like I'm rewatching GoT with you lol
Haha omg I'm laughing so hard 😂😂😂
"What a crazy episode" 😂 You'll say that pretty often
