Hey Adam, I'm building my GBZ today. I have a few more questions for you: 1) Can I use 22 AWG for everything or just powerboost? 2) Can I use electrical tape for back of screen instead of kapton tape? Are there any differences or risks? Thanks.
Hi Alexander, the wires I will recommend are the ones you find inside a USB wire, I believe they are 24 AWG, you surely have some lying around so just strip the outer shell and get your free cables 😂
Hey Adam. Do you use a DS Lite GBA cart socket or just glue the cart on the Gameboy zero to keep it in place? Also, do the controls take much setting up? Having tested it with an Xbox 360 controller, some emulators need random button presses to work, while some don't at all. Thanks
I just glue it in place in some cases, as I need the maximum of space, you will see in my last build what I am talking about, as for the controls, on the first boot you will be asked to map the buttons, is a matter of just pressing them and that is it!

Amazing, I just started this build today.....I did not get the display adapter, but maybe I should have. Only thing is I planed on having the HDMI port on the side instead of the microSD and using a PRS cartridge board. I ordered a safe shut down as well.
Adam Builds - I just realized I had seen your first GBZ build a couple weeks ago. I will use the PRS card if it comes before the DPI board comes. It’s kind of a gimmick as you have no reason to remove the mircoSD. Especially since I got the Pi Zero W.
Hey Adam. Turns out my battery is a little bit bigger than the Gameboy housing allows so I cut a bit of the housing to fit it. Should this be ok behind the circuit boards? Thanks
Hi Adam, i have a few questions 1. Can i use DPI adapter with Tinkerboy v.1.1 controler ?? This one is waaay to expensive for me cuz im from poland :/ 2. I want to use RPi Zero W. Do i need to wire USB ports ??
The dpi adapter doesn't work with v1.1 as that one needs pretty much all the gpio's for the buttons, with the Dpi adapter you will have just 4 gpio pins open to configure It doesn't make sense to buy the adapter, just go with the AV pin and is cheaper!
Now is an easier way of doing this, you can get a prebuild image that works with the DPI adapter and also works with the V1.1 Image, more info here www.tinkerboy.xyz/retropie-image-with-built-in-support-for-usb-audio-gpio-controller-inputs-and-dpi/

I am thinking to build a Raspberry Powered Gameboy, but instead of the Zero i wanted to use the Pi 3... Is it possible to use this parts with the model 3? What do you think?
For the caps, I got them with the actual button from TinkerBoy's website, he got a bunch of colours to choose from, and for the GPIO pins I think you can find them from any website as long as they are 40 male pins, pimoroni.com got them in stock

You can use 22 awg wire in all but it will make it harder for you to close the case as they are thicker, works with electrical tape also !👌
Does it matter what color the cables are
Hi, the color of the cables doesn't matter but don't make all of them the same colour, it will be hard to make the wiring after
Thank you very much
