Thank you so much 🙏 Yeah it should work totally fine. I know those have some quirks about GB/GBC color palettes but these should work just the same as normal 👍
I have an Everdrive GB and biggest beef with it is the fact you can only save a certain amount of save files, after that it displays a Read error that only goes away when you delete a savefile. Mind you, savefiles are created just by playing a game, not necessarily saving it.
I noticed the card that came with mine was near capacity. Have you tried clearing some space to allow for save files or is this happening with plenty of available space on the card?
@@TynologyGaming It had lots of space. I think either the operating system or menu cannot hold too many savefiles. Btw thank you for replying so fast! Your video is really well put together!
@@DisasterEXE Thank you! yeah I wouldn’t be surprised. I tried a few cards and some would work, others wouldn’t, some would for a while, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there was a limit to the amount of files in that directory though. During filming I think the most I had was like 9-10 files and not too many more after that. Something I would be interested in checking out further though
@@TynologyGaming If you ever need footage of what I mean I can show you one day. I just hope I am not confusing it with the GBA flashcard I have...I just remembered I have two of these things.
I have a GB Classic and recently adquired an EDGB but I don’t know how to save my progress (hi-scores) on my ROMs like Super Mario Land or Tetris, each time I load a game my Hi-Scores are non-existant 😢 is there a way to save my Hi-Scores?
Those games never supported saving, and these just replicate the rom, so if there’s no saving in the game, no saving here. You’ll need to grab hacked roms that adds a save feature to a lot of these old games (a quick search turned up results for this)
The swapped B/A is in the settings and can be flipped back around Does your cart not have the button for reset? The button avoids having to crush the cartridge. Look for the button if you get another one. It saves a ton of stress and difficulty changing games. I believe the official Everdrive carts all have this button. Rev.C is a reference to the PCB revision Analogue Pocket doesn't really need these, but they're fantastic for the FPGBC. Especially when you want to try out hacks. I highly recommend trying the DX hack versions of your favorite games. My Super Mario Land II original cart is collecting dust ever since I snagged the color DX hack. It even adds Luigi as a playable character!
It seems some versions with updated firmware have the button swapping ability. Unfortunately mine does not, and cannot be updated. The reset button is internal for some reason on this one also (I've seen the ones with the external button), but I have to push in on the exposed back top of the cart pretty firmly to trigger it, and the soft reset only seems to work sometimes. Before the Pocket was updated to allow access to the SD card I saw a lot of people grabbing these to use on it (but yeah not necessary anymore). I do want to grab a FPGBC though and will definitely check out the DX hacks! Thanks for the comment!
I sprung for the gba everdrive’s latest version directly from Krizz around a year ago cause I wanted the realtime clock features and its been great. I use it alot with my gameboy player. I also got the x7 for the N64 from him. Both have worked perfectly. I certainly endorse spending the extra cash for him and his work if you can as the clones and so called “multi-carts” would not exist without him and you get a build quality the knock offs just don’t offer.
Just discovered your channel - great video! I bought one of these as I like to properly play the full library to find new games I love. Anything I play a lot I’ll then prob buy the real cart. I generally only own 10 or so of my fav games for any system, so this is the most efficient way for me to me to find hidden gems etc and more fun than emulation.
Exactly, even though I do own a lot of GB cartridges, it's just more convenient to have on a single cart and preserve the originals as much as possible. Thanks for the comment!
Is possible to backup the saves and play them on a pc emulator and the other way around (transfer my gbc saves from a gbc emulator to play on this device) ?
I'm not 100% sure, the EDGB saves as .srm files, which I've seen can be converted (or used) on other emulators, but typically it's a .sav file. Doing some research, it seems hit or miss whether the files are compressed or not, but it seems like some people get them working, I just haven't confirmed for myself.
It's gonna be a crapshoot depending on which device you end up with. Mine has Red/Blue/(Green) and Silver/Gold - not sure where Yellow & Crystal are but they may be there. There's also a lot of hacked versions of Pokemon games
I had a power issue with my setup. It was a legit GB EverDrive with a Game Boy Pocket with a the backlight mod. Whenever it went to flash the ROM onto the chip, the system would cut power. Most likely due to only being powered by AAAs. Never had a issue with my DMG Game Boy, Advances, or GBC regardless of what mods they had or didn't have, or on a unmodified Game Boy Pocket
Oh good to know. I wonder if it was just a bad combination with that mod specifically. I haven't done a 1:1 test but so far it seems to not really affect my battery life 🤞
Are there any plans to cover the Ace DS carts? They are neat but God damn the state of the company that made them makes it impossible to maintain software on it. I still can't fix my cart!
I've tried the EZ Flash ODE for the GBA and the EZ Flash Jr. for the GB/GBC vs. the Everdrives and the quality and the funtionality of the Everdrives are over the top. I recommend the everdrives above any other. The cost of the everdrives is well justified for the quality, specialy considering the situation of the manufacturer and their families and friends not having a good time thanks to the war. My respects to them and my supporto to those suffering the consecuneces of the war.
Yeah I was bummed reading about all that. I’ve heard nothing but great things about authentic Everdrive devices, and would like to pick some up for my consoles in the near future
I think the x7 is worth the money, for the save states, and the warranty, but having said that I've been using a ezflashiv for like 10 years so to each is own but the everdrive x7 is the best option for the color/pocket/dmg
So I got a question for you. When you put this cartridge into your Game Boy and turn it on, doesn’t immediately go to the menu for you to select your game? Or does it boot directly into the game that you last saved to the flash memory?
Mine has a firmware from 2016 and came with a 4GB sdcard.. I have a (my) original Gameboy (Classic) that I got as a child back in I think 1992 or 1993ish (The box is still in pristine condition and never even took the manual out of it). I modded the Gameboy with a IPS screen and I made my own lithium mod. I modded it without soldering or removing anything. I can just pick out the lithium battery contraption and put in 4 AA batteries. I did buy a aftermarket batterycover because I wanted USB charging and did not want to cut in my orginal Gameboy(parts). So now I have a USB-C port on my Gameboy from 1989 with a lithium battery and IPS screen :D Edit: I just saw this video was 1 year old.. LoL
Yeah the DMG mods have come a long way over the years (I have an older video about my first DMG mod), the drop in battery replacements are awesome and I’ve been wanting to do another DMG or pocket mod recently. Thanks for watching!
@@TynologyGaming I made the battery contraction myself from an old laptop battery (with LiPo cells in the batterypack), a tp4056 and a boostconverter. I didn't know there were "drop in battery replacements" I though they all needed to be solderer and such. I'm gonna check out your video on that :)
Great video! I was tempted to also grab a clone but then I heard about the ez flash and I absolutely do not regret getting one! I would recommend getting an ez flash instead of a clone but that’s just my opinion.
I took the chance and bought a $20 knock off with 700+ games on eBay. While the cartridge was so cheap and flimsy the pcb and roms were legit and I’ve never had a problem with it. I did sacrifice a Japanese GB cartridge to replace the very cheap cartridge. It even works well in my IPS DMG and my IPS GBC but will not work in my IPS GB pocket.
@@TynologyGamingI have a thing for white cartridges. Japanese Tamagotchi carts are plentiful. You’ll need to do some cutting. For the SD card slot, and a few other locations for board components. I also had to change the battery because the battery holder was too tall, I replaced it with a standard GBC solder on pcb battery.
I got the legit ED for the GBA as the knock offs are only just cheaper but I got a GBC knock off as the price difference is significant. Honestly they all work about the same to me.
I'm very aware of these, even though I prefer the MSU-MD/MSU-1 enhanced versions of some games via the use of flash carts i.e Everdrives. I do keep around some of my physical copies, but I tend to lean towards the aforementioned Everdrives as I'm a fan of different types of ROM hacks, like QoL, MSU, etc. Especially when it comes to Neo Geo, the NeoSD, that is very helpful, as even most MVS carts can be upwards of a couple hundred dollars. I think for some that are unable to afford the premium price of an actual Everdrive cart, these clones could be helpful in those situations. As always, very great video, take care always, hope Sally is doing well, happy gaming! 😊🖖🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🎮Marcus
Yeah flash carts are especially great for consoles where games are crazy expensive. This was my very first one so I wanted to just get a taste of this whole situation. Thanks Marcus! 🤘
Just my opinion but a huge problem with the Analogue Pocket is the screen size. They should have made it significantly larger, not really worth the price tag at all.
I think the goal was to keep a similar form factor/size as the original Game Boy line. The screen is so great and having the 10:1 resolution is pretty awesome
the whole problem with buying this clone is you dont know which ones got bricked and you cant trust the seller to tell you the truth lol. better to get it from the source
Funny you mention the story of the person making the cartridge; and then mention "who cares if you own the game" :) Basically you say that it is bad to buy a cloned product like this, as the original maker get damaged and has a personal human story; but what about the people that made those games? Forget about Nintendo; they just pay to have the game done and distributed; people make those games, and while nobody get money for a used cartridge; it is still moving around the legacy of that person that put their soul in making a game. So yes, there are people that care about using original cartridges, as it is as bad if not worst (copyright international laws say so) than making a clone of a hardware device and sell it as your design. War is bad; and we are all feeling sorry for the people in war zones; but I believe that flash cards existed for long time... So technically the Everdrive design is not exactly "new" nor "Original". I think I had my first flash cards about 15 years ago or longer; and I still have it somewhere (if the battery didn't leak).
First off, thank you for the thought you put into this comment on the video. I understand your perspective on this. I have to disagree with your first point. Shaming people into only playing authentic cartridges that are generally only re-sold for sole profit to the reseller only hurts the legacy of the games and the people that made them. In my opinion the more people that can experience these games, the better, as the legacy can live on beyond the limited number of physical *functional* cartridges left in the wild and being traded. And the thing is, I'd rather have the limited supply of these old games being preserved, enjoyed and cared for by people that are passionate about them. As far as your second point, I'm not sure of the history specifically about GB/GBC carts, but the original ED was revolutionary in the space and the reason why every knockoff is a clone of it. Any cart before it either used slower media, lesser firmware, or had compatibility issues. I know that this is a gray area both ethically and legally but ultimately I wanted to share my love of experiencing Game Boy games and a way to do that without falling down the rabbit hole that we have all fallen down over the last 30 years. Or maybe that was my plan all along...
@@TynologyGaming Thanks for the reply; I totally get your point on the cartridge re-sell issue, although what are the alternatives? We know that there are people that buy things to sell them for a profit sadly; but how would that be worst than the alternatives? Where do you see "shaming" I see honesty and logic process for a collectible. If there was no way to get a movie, a book or a painting in digital format; those items would be more valuable, isn't it? In part is the same concept with emulators and virtual console/computers... IF you abstract everything to just the content, it become cheap in the end and not a collectible anymore. A cartridge is a physical object: if all but one are destroyed, the collectible value of that single surviving cartridge would be insane. But for digital? Not so much... It become like music copied from a tape to another when we were kids, or recorded on the radio. If the objective is to collect, I don't see any shaming in expecting people buying the original media. As you, I prefer to see 100 cartridges in the right hands, compared to everyone having a copy of it just because we can digitize and distribute this media. While if we talk about "just play games" then that is different, and that is the excuse that many people place on the fact that they copy roms (in conjunction with "conservation"... Museums do that, not regular people usually, unless they are collectors?). And nothing wrong in wanting all the roms in a cabinet; or in a computer or what not, as long as we are intellectually honest in admitting that it is illegal as there is copyright; but nobody will knock at the door unless you start spreading this material too much or ask for money. We should not confuse the "socially acceptable behavior", with what is legal or right to do :) I can pass with a red light; and that is OK if I am in a hurry; but if the cops are there they stop me and I get a fine :) No matter if I was in a hurry or not. As long as people take responsibility for their own actions, that is totally fine! But I am not a fan of making it acceptable in the name of some reasons that can be flipped for convenience (not talking about you, by any means... This is a generic take on something that as you well know, is considered quite a rabbit hole). And I agree that the product made as ED is better than the previous ones, but it is not new :) The protocol to stream from the SD to the EEPROM or to copy bytecode and simulate the electronic signature of each device was done long time ago; but it was perfected in the ED products, and kudos for that work of course. My point was just that as this person took existing ideas (often open source), and made a product; that apply also to competitors. Unless the clones are reverse engineering his proprietary code, everything goes. You may remember the old days where companies would buy competitors products and take them apart to see how they are made. That is common practice; although copying a design 1:1 if it is copyrighted or trademarked is illegal (and some countries do not recognize copyright or trademarks sadly). I won't go on the legit territory of flash cards, but I think it is fair to save your precious and expensive media and use backups where possible; so that is the view I have of these products (I own the originals, I feel OK using roms of what I own, for my own convenience). I really enjoyed your video and it did show your passion. And please don't take my comments as chastising or patronizing anyone; I just pointed out at the fact that it felt to me as an oxymoron to defend a product based on your sound logic, and then dismiss original media as if that logic used before was not completely consistent.
@chriss4365 The games need to support this tho, which they don't. Since the cart needs to trick the gameboy into believing it's a real game it also needs to trick it with the saving feature, which sadly also means you are limited to old technology. The EZ Flash Jr. has a reset button on the back exactly for this reason so even with a dry battery you can still get your savefile onto the sd card
filthy thief...guy at store is asking 40$cad for that cartridge....and he is not showing me the list. If is not having LSDJ and NanoLoop is sad... And if i get them...probably i will need to install a headphones jack to be able to record the songs....

Just gotta play it all in one sitting 😎 No I think there is a way to disable it or something. I use this more for one and done single sitting games anyway since there’s no external save states
It's insane how much effort you put into your vids! I just built a Funnyplaying GBC, do you think this thing will work on it?
You’ll need to grab hacked roms that adds a save feature to a lot of these old games (a quick search turned up results for this)
So will it play advance games if used on sp? Someone said it won’t do gbc games
No GBA games (that’s a separate cart that can do GB, GBC and GBA games). This does run GB and GBC games (it can run those on a GBA device also)
I highly recommend the CleanPower pcb if you are gonna use flashcarts with your modded gbc!
I’ve been meaning to grab one of those!
Fuck yeah bro props to you for pointing people in the direction of krikzz. I love his products even if they are expensive, He deserves the money
I like to give credit to the original creator when possible
The swapped B/A is in the settings and can be flipped back around
Does your cart not have the button for reset? The button avoids having to crush the cartridge. Look for the button if you get another one. It saves a ton of stress and difficulty changing games. I believe the official Everdrive carts all have this button.
Rev.C is a reference to the PCB revision
Analogue Pocket doesn't really need these, but they're fantastic for the FPGBC.
Are you able to play original Gameboy Games on this too or just Gameboy Color?
Both original and GBC games (works fine in DMG Game Boys, aside from GBC exclusive games)
Ive heard nothing but great things, good to know 👌
I've been confused for a while. Does the work with the DMG gameboy? I want to pick it up.
Yes it does, but exclusive GBC roms obviously won’t work on the DMG
@@TynologyGaming yeah, that's expected. I will pick one up and try it out!
Does anyone know if this will work on the fpgbc?
I believe so, I need to pick up a FPGBC to confirm. But there’s a lot of different versions of these carts so your results may vary
Do these come pre-loaded with games or do you have to download all the games you want?
Pre-loaded but you can add your own
Just discovered your channel - great video!
Best video of its kind. Good vibe
I really appreciate it 🤜🤛
What format must be formated the microSD card?
FAT32
@@TynologyGaming thanks for your reply, what is the maximum capaciy supoorted?
Is possible to backup the saves and play them on a pc emulator and the other way around (transfer my gbc saves from a gbc emulator to play on this device) ?
I'm not 100% sure, the EDGB saves as .srm files, which I've seen can be converted (or used) on other emulators, but typically it's a .sav file. Doing some research, it seems hit or miss whether the files are compressed or not, but it seems like some people get them working, I just haven't confirmed for myself.
@@TynologyGaming ok, I just ordered a EDGB Max, and really wanted to use it to continue to play my pokemon silver and yellow saves on my gameboy
@@JussimirPasold Good luck! Let me know if you manage to get it working!
If I get it what Pokémon games does it come with?
It's gonna be a crapshoot depending on which device you end up with. Mine has Red/Blue/(Green) and Silver/Gold - not sure where Yellow & Crystal are but they may be there. There's also a lot of hacked versions of Pokemon games
lsdj run perfect there??
I haven’t tried LSDJ but I haven’t had issues with anything that doesn’t require a RTC
I haven't done a 1:1 test but so far it seems to not really affect my battery life 🤞
The new everdrives are better on the pocket now
great vedio! really enjoy these gameboy games on genuine hardware!
Thank you! It really feels good. I can’t stay away from a new screen though haha 😝
Are there any plans to cover the Ace DS carts? They are neat but God damn the state of the company that made them makes it impossible to maintain software on it. I still can't fix my cart!
You know I am not as familiar with those! I’ll have to check them out 👍
Apparently the regular flashcarts seem to use interchangeable firmware...? Don't quote me on that.
I mood my gbc exactly like yours, it's funny playing?
The screen and shell are Funnyplaying, yes. Here’s my video about it: ua-cam.com/video/IwZ4WIHqUlU/v-deo.html
@@TynologyGaming you will not regret it. Also, great quality production in your videos. New sub here. :) Keep it up!
🙏 I appreciate it!
It boots to the menu, but if you push the start button it will boot up the game currently stored in the flash memory 👍
Subbed! Please do more of these.
You’re a legend 🤘
Mine has a firmware from 2016 and came with a 4GB sdcard.. I have a (my) original Gameboy (Classic) that I got as a child back in I think 1992 or 1993ish (The box is still in pristine condition and never even took the manual out of it). I modded the Gameboy with a IPS screen and I made my own lithium mod. I modded it without soldering or removing anything. I can just pick out the lithium battery contraption and put in 4 AA batteries. I did buy a aftermarket batterycover because I wanted USB charging and did not want to cut in my orginal Gameboy(parts). So now I have a USB-C port on my Gameboy from 1989 with a lithium battery and IPS screen :D
Edit: I just saw this video was 1 year old..
I'm gonna check out your video on that :)
not tryna be a pain, but do you remember the name of that rom-hack?
Pokémon Uncensored (Red hack) - had to go back and find it. Lots of dumb gay jokes 🙄
a+b+start+select combo seems to be built-in with certain titles?
Maybe? I didn’t test enough games out using it to be 100% sure
Does it save like pokemon games?
Gen 1 yes, gen 2 no (there are hacks to bypass RTC but it’s still not exactly the same)
What screen and case is that

Hi :)
Do they have save feature?
If the original game you’re playing had a battery save, yes. This doesn’t have its own save state feature though
Damn your video looks awesome!
Thank you my dude!
Great video! I was tempted to also grab a clone but then I heard about the ez flash and I absolutely do not regret getting one! I would recommend getting an ez flash instead of a clone but that’s just my opinion.
The EZ Flash is a great option and definitely more consistent/reliable!
Great idea with the re-shell, I should do that!
Is there GBA/DS equivalent?
Yeah there’s several:
GBA: amzn.to/48Gw6s2, amzn.to/3Q4FT3R, amzn.to/3Q57H8n
DS: amzn.to/3Q4ryo5, amzn.to/3rxgzdD
@@TynologyGaming thanks.
You rock! I love you! 🧡
I love you baby! You’re my muse 🧡
I got the legit ED for the GBA as the knock offs are only just cheaper but I got a GBC knock off as the price difference is significant. Honestly they all work about the same to me.
Yeah I still need to pick up a GBA cart. Good to know! 👌
Very good video.
Thank you. I appreciate it
Just my opinion but a huge problem with the Analogue Pocket is the screen size.
Yeah I touch on that, you don’t know 100% what you’re going to get unfortunately
This is really for anyone who is smart enough not to throw money away on overpriced Gameboy cartridges. Which is a lot of them these days.
Yeah aside from rebuilding my childhood collection, I don't see myself buying a lot more original carts, especially pricey or rare ones...
And please don't take my comments as chastising or patronizing anyone; I just pointed out at the fact that it felt to me as an oxymoron to defend a product based on your sound logic, and then dismiss original media as if that logic used before was not completely consistent.
better than $5000 for pokemon
I don’t understand how such common games are so expensive now 😵💫
@@TynologyGaming I feel like scalpers and hype messed it up : (
Having the cell battery inside is dumb.
It’s how you save the games just like any cartridge that has the ability to save progress
@TynologyGaming yes older ones used ram that's why it has a battery. It should have flash memory.
@@niplob I figured new technology could use flash to fool the game boy.
If you want a cheap flash cart just get an EZ flash Jr.
There's no reason to support clone companies, they suck.
EZ Flash Jr is a great option, especially with RTC support
its comical that youre playing a pirated game on a pirated cartridge.... it would be funny if you also play it on a pirated gameboy color
I guess I should have been playing on the FPGBC yeah?
filthy thief...guy at store is asking 40$cad for that cartridge....and he is not showing me the list.
If is not having LSDJ and NanoLoop is sad...
And if i get them...probably i will need to install a headphones jack to be able to record the songs....
There we go with the feel sorry for me ukraine video was going so well
I don’t believe in piracies so this is a really really good way to play all 1043 of the games that I own
This is a great way to not wear down those contacts on your original carts for sure!
