44:00, next up X-Men: First Class!! Without giving away much it's a prequel to these last three movies. We will get to see Xavier and Magneto back in their younger days. Nuff said.
The Morlocks (underground mutants) are huge in the comic books. Callisto was the original leader. Magneto is the leader of another group called the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Members included Mystique, Pyro and Juggernaut.
35:27, the actress playing the Cure scientist is Shohreh Aghdashloo. She has appeared in several big budget sci-fi projects in film and television. Most notably she portrayed UN Secretary General Chrisjen Avasarala in the tv series The Expanse. Her character is a wise older woman who is a grandma and career politician who doesn't mind cursing a fool out. If you two would like to see a sci-fi show that paints an interesting and grounded view of the future check out The Expanse.
In the the comics, the Beast and the Angel were part of the original team - along with Cyclops, Iceman, Prof x, and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey). Wolverine, Colossus, Pyro, etc didn't show up until a few years later
I've never been into the Xmen so I'm following along with you two. The actor playing Jimmy i think i heard played Six in Ultra Violet. A very cool sci fy movie. Boomer Sooner!
17:10, in the comics the Phoenix is actually not Jean's alternate personality. It's really a cosmic force that is practically unstoppable. For example, the Phoenix went rogue once flew Jean across the galaxy and triggered a supernova that wiped out an entire civilization. Phoenix used the power of the super nova as a snack. The way the Phoenix is portrayed here and in a later X-Men movie is light weight compared to the comics.
"It moved! I don't know why I'm happy about that." I love you guys! Continue on the X-men storylines. Days of Future Past and Apocalypse are great! ✌️❤️
Hank McCoy - AKA - Beast, is one of the original X-Men from the comics including Scott Summers (Cyclops), Jean Gray (Marvel Girl), Bobby Drake (Ice Man) and Warren Worthington (Angel). Beasts' super power is his strength, agility, healing and intellect. He's a master geneticist which oddly enough is how he turned blue (he wasn't always blue and harry)
I was always amused by Beast being condescending to Wolverine. Logan was fighting in wars years before Hank's grandparents were born. He was older than Hank's entire lifespan before Hank was even birthed.
Want to rewrite your feelings about Magneto and Gandalf? Watch Apt Pupil. The first thing I remember him in, about ten years before these movies. It's a Stephen King adaptation, and it's excellent. ETA: I love when reactors love things that have been hated for generations it seems like. I always thought this one wasn't as bad as people liked to say, and it has certainly aged well with the rest of the movies.
Mystique has a great limited comic series by one of the best writers on Lost that was great. It was about her working for Xavier doing darker covert stuff while Lost style mysteries occurred. Really under rated limited series IMO
The blue furry guy is Dr. Hank McCoy The Beast. Originally he was hairless. He had brown hair but looked like a freak. Because he had huge feet and hands. But was a super smart scientist. The original X-Men from 1963-1971. Comic didn't sell very well sadly, in 1975. Marvel decided to relaunch the series with a Giant Size #1, and continue the original series with #94. Hence not only did we still have the original team. Of Angel, the Beast, Iceman, Cyclops & Marvel girl/Jean Grey. They brought in a whole new team too. Wolverine, Colossus the Metal man from Russia. Nightcrawler from Germany, Storm from Africa, Sunfire originally a Anti-hero from Japan. Banshee a former X-Men villain from Ireland who became a good guy. The movies are very different from the comics. Wolverines are real small mean killers like their cousins from Wisconsin the Badger. Logan in the comics is 5-3". Not 6-3" Hugh Jackman a young Clint Eastwood clone. Jean Grey became the Phoenix in a much different way in space. Which is redone in newer X-Men movies sort of a recasting reboot. The newer movies are much more comic characters/stories accurate too.
@micpar2. Hah!!! You are the first person I've ever seen note the uncanny resemblance of Hugh Jackman to a young Clint Eastwood. Especially in the first movie, there are times when he looks EXACTLY like Eastwood. But I've never seen anyone mention it.
"That's a comic book...that's a famous guy." Uh, Yeah! Only the creator of Spider Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Doctor Strange, Ant Man, Nick Fury, and literlly HUNDREDS of other comic book characters! He is the reason Marvel comics exists, and thus, all these movies! In the comics, the original X-men were Professor X, Cyclops (who was like the team Captain), Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Iceman, Angel and the Beast (fur-ball). Their arch nemesis was Magneto and his brotherhood of mutants, featuring Mastermind, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Toad. You will definitely want to see all of the other Wolverine and X-Men movies...they are all great!
"That's a famous guy" Stan Lee, good eyes if you aren't a comic nerd. He wrote most of these books from Xmen, Spiderman, The Avengers he does a cameo (now even computer animated due to his passing) in every Marvel movie.
Mystique was so useful, and NOT only because of her shape-shifting powers! She could fly a helicopter; she was a computer hacker; she was a kick-ass martial artist; she had so many talents that had nothing just to do with her mutant factor. Magneto had the anti-anti-racism extremism, so that he could not see her as an ally, even as a useful "plain human." Strategically, a really stupid, short-sighted move- as clearly, she still had a lot of intel on them. Better to have kept her close (or killed her, but even he wasn't *quite* as cold as that), but he chose not to. Many mistakes and mis-calculations, he made, in his zealous, "righteous" cause. Hence why he and Xavier were such opposites.
Loved this reaction this is definitely one of my favorite X-Men movies even though it was so emotional. Please continue the franchise please!! So many more answers left… please make it at least to days of future past!
Glad you guys dug this as much as you did! Some other great X-Men movies you still have left to check out are First Class, Days of Future Past, The Wolverine, Logan and Deadpool.
I seem to remember Famke Jensen (Jean) only agreed to return for this third movie on the condition she had a bigger role to play; as did Hallie Berry (Storm)- and so the writer's created Jean's alter ego, The Phoenix, and Storm was given the job of replacing Professor X and head of the school.
You missed the end credits scene! Professor X lives, in a way! Also, you must continue with the prequels when Charles and Erik are young men, and also the standalone Wolverine movies, especially Logan. I know you love backstories, and there is SO MUCH backstory to enjoy.
Team RobSquad!! I always love your videos but I’m A huge Xmen fan, so i have been loving this series the most!! The Last Stand and Days of Future Past are my favourites!
You guys really need to dig into both the Mission Impossible and the Jason Bourne series. Both are excellent in their own way. MI tends to be kind of outrageous with Tom's acrobatics etc. but very fun with decent plots. Jason Bourne series must be watched in order because of the amnesia storyline and the revelation of who JB really is. PLEASE check these two franchises out. You won't be sorry. Anyone else out there agree?
Fun fact: part of the reason for Cyclops' death was Superman Returns. James Marsden(Cyclops) was contracted to play Richard White in Superman Returns. The filming schedules for the movies were going to conflict so the decision was made to have him be Jean/Phoenix's first big victim.
As traumatic as Prof. Xavier's death was, in the comic, "Dark Phoenix" obliterated an alien planet, inhabited by 5 billion beings. The Dark Phoenix Saga was a classic 40 years ago. Ian McKellan was masterful as Erik/Magneto.
Hank McCoy's base mutation is larger hands and feet as well as near-superhuman reflexes and agility. The furry blue form(and his codename, Beast) came from an experimental serum he created and had to use on himself to protect it. Nightcrawler did not return because he decided that the X-Men's violent excursions wasn't for him but he is willing to help if needed(this was revealed in the canon tie-in video game based on the previous movie). The real life reason for his absence is because Alan Cumming(the actor who played him) didn't enjoy the make up process as it was very long and unpleasant so he chose not to reprise the role. Don't worry though, we'll see a younger version later on.
Hey, Jay and Amber! If one has no comic knowledge, this film is an emotional powerhouse! While it is true that this movie is unfairly maligned for reasons beyond its entertainment value alone, those reasons are significant. "The Dark Phoenix Saga" is a beloved and complex epic serving as a major milestone in X-mythology. As the film trilogy is so grounded, it was impossible to tell a sweeping saga of interstellar empires and cosmic beings spanning millennia. Fox tries once with each cast and failed twice. As a film without context existing in a movie vacuum, it is fun, exciting and in keeping thematically with the other two entries. As an adaptation of the Phoenix Saga, it is an abysmal failure. By the way, Scott, not Wolverine, kills his beloved at the end of the story but, as Hugh Jackman was the popular lead and main audience POV character, he did the honors in the film. Katherine "Kitty" Pryde goes by the name Shadowcat. In the comics, she is the character that Rogue represents in the series as the new girl with a crush for one student and a close friendship with Wolverine. Her character was played by a different actress during the mansion invasion in "X2". She was the kid who slipped through her bed and phased through a commando. Ellen Page took over the role in "X3". You missed the END-CREDIT SCENE! Please record a reaction to it and upload it with the next X movie reaction! It is crucial! The brain-dead body Charles inhabits is that of his twin brother. This is not mentioned in the movie but comic readers recognized the plot. Henceforth, when you see Stewart Xavier you can subscribe to the twin rationale for having the same face or just assume he is projecting the Stewart face to others for the sake of familiarity. If you want more of Anna Paquin's Rogue, make sure you see the "ROGUE CUT" of "Days of Future Past" otherwise she won't appear in the film! "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is the next movie to see. X-MEN TIMELINES: Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP --> Origins ------------------------------------------------> X1 --> X2 --> X3 --> Wolverine -------> New Mutants ----------------------> Logan Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP ----------------> Apocalypse --> Dark Phoenix ------------------------------------------------> Deadpool --> Deadpool 2 -----> DOFP Utopia Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> DOFP Dystopia DO NOT watch the films in RELEASE ORDER!!!!! weird why it was juggernaut that went after kitty. they could have had anyone else without having his powers leeched.
2:52 That’s Stan Lee. He is one of the creators of the majority of the characters you’ll watch in Marvel movies. He makes cameos in all the movies too
To this day, Phoenix’s “I don’t wanna fix it” is scary as hell
A. "Dutch" with Ed O'Neal
B. "Secret to my Success" with Michael J. Fox
or
Y'all missed the bonus scene at the very end of the credits, which will make you even happier than seeing Magneto move the chess piece.
BTW, the legendary actor, Donald Sutherland, recently passed away, and he played one of the screen's greatest villains, President Snow from The Hunger Games movies, which are fantastic and I hope the two you soon react to them, because The Hunger Games consists of four great movies that are undeniable and have everything you will love in a classic sci-fi movie series, with fantastic acting, thrills, action, characters that you love and others you love to hate, dark themes, heartbreak, and triumph. Please, start that very popular series soon. It's amazing. ❤✌
Yes all in for the Hunger Games!! And Donald Sutherland's President Snow is my favorite bad guy!!! What a great actor. One of my favorites!!
Three words... post-credit scene.
(Also, the elderly gentleman watering his garden in the flashback, was Stan Lee. Co-creator of X-Men, Avengers, Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk, Daredevil & Fantastic 4)
Next film in release order would be X-Men Origins: Wolverine... 'Nuff Said.
X-MEN starts getting better from here. Keep at it.
44:00, next up X-Men: First Class!!
Without giving away much it's a prequel to these last three movies. We will get to see Xavier and Magneto back in their younger days. Nuff said.
in the comics Cyclops was the leader of the missions. they did him dirty in the movies
X-Men 97 is doing him right
The Morlocks (underground mutants) are huge in the comic books. Callisto was the original leader. Magneto is the leader of another group called the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Members included Mystique, Pyro and Juggernaut.
‘Blue Guy’ and ‘Furball’ is called Beast. The actor is Kelsey Gramer. He is super intelligent, strong and agile.
Best X-Men movies are still to come 😀
Yall forgot to stay for the end credit scene.
In the the comics, the Beast and the Angel were part of the original team - along with Cyclops, Iceman, Prof x, and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey). Wolverine, Colossus, Pyro, etc didn't show up until a few years later
YOU MISSED AN AFTER CREDIT SCENE !!! Go back and watch it !!!
A) I agree this movie didn't deserve the hate it got. B) Apt Pupil is a damn unsettling movie/book. Not saying it's not good but it's alot.
This film was also the beginning of my Shohreh Aghdashloo obsession. Her voiiiiiiiice UGH!!
I like the lore of Marvel comics characters- they were cultivated for decades by very talented writers. Jean Grey was my favorite and yes I’m a misfit
I hope u guys post them all as fast as u can .all the way up to the anime that dropped this year, X-Men 97. Can't wait for the reaction 🎉
Angel was one of the original X-Men comic favorites and so was Beast
Mystique has a great limited comic series by one of the best writers on Lost that was great. It was about her working for Xavier doing darker covert stuff while Lost style mysteries occurred. Really under rated limited series IMO
Yes, that is Stan Lee. He makes a cameo in all the marvel movies
Continue the series. First class are prequels
Youre gonna love the next Xmen movies.
Only real Rob Squad fans can like❤️
You’re going to love X-Men First Class!
For future reference, most Marvel movies have an end credit scene. This one had one
The actress who plays Kitty is also real good in her lead role in INCEPTION with Leonardo DiCaprio
Now an Actor
Amber “That’s the comic book guy. He’s famous.” *blank look from Jordan *😂
That’s Stan Lee creator of Marvel.
Co creator
Stan Lee didn't create Marvel, but he did become its mascot.
Yall need to watch the end credits. They give clues to the next X-Men movies.
He wrote most of these books from Xmen, Spiderman, The Avengers he does a cameo (now even computer animated due to his passing) in every Marvel movie.
jean was literally ripping everyone's bodies apart telekinetically at a molecular level. telekinesis is insane
Beast/blue guy is a beast lol he’s strong, can jump, has claws, he’s a beast
Niiiiiice i was really looking forward to that!! You made my day 😁
much love from austria 🇦🇹
The blue guy's power is that he's super agility, strength and healing. he's extremely intelligent, but that may be a natural attribute.
Its not just his healing factor that makes wolverine damn near unstoppable its the adamantium thats merged with his entire skeleton
He also has the berserker personality where he goes absolutely nuts.
There’s a handful of Omega level mutants. Ice Man is one of them with Jean Grey, Magneto, Professor X, etc
I hope ya'll saw the scene after the credits rolled. Thanks for watching this gem. Please keep watching X-Men movies. Good stuff. 🖖
You needed to watch to the end of the credits!!! :D
Always look for after credits scenes in Marvel movies!
I always love your videos but I’m
A huge Xmen fan, so i have been loving this series the most!! The Last Stand and Days of Future Past are my favourites!
That scene with the boy, Kitty Pride & The Juggernauts was wrong, but it suppose to work for the movie.
You both missed the after credits scene professor xavier put his Consciousness inside that guy that was in the hospital with no consciousness
Fun fact: part of the reason for Cyclops' death was Superman Returns. James Marsden(Cyclops) was contracted to play Richard White in Superman Returns. The filming schedules for the movies were going to conflict so the decision was made to have him be Jean/Phoenix's first big victim.
That sucks. Seems like they should have been able to work something out without KILLING him. They're supposed to be WRITERS, aren't they?
Where's my reply??? I hate yt.
So happy you're loving the X-Men films - DEFINITELY carry on! There is SO MUCH amazingness to come, TRUST!
There's an end credits scene you guys left out and need to watch also Days Of Future Past is a must watch.

In the comics bobby (ice man) is one of the most powerful mutants on earth able to turn into ice and once lost an arm and simply made a new one out of ice and when he changed back had a new arm he also survived a nuclear explosion
Awesome reaction of my favorite X-Men movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Like totally. !
Hell yeah!!! I knew ya couldn't wait to see the next movie!! Thats why they're one of the greatest superheroes teams ever created in Marvel comics by Stan Lee!!! Just a little info for you; Magneto, Storm, Iceman, Jean Grey, Professor X are OMEGA LEVEL MUTANTS!
