I recently bought a 2009 crew cab 4x4 with 5.4 3v has 258000 miles only thing I know that the guy had it passed away in August 2019,his daughter drove it then parked it cause of brake caliper an pads wore not changing them destroying rotor an burn caliper completely out,but ran good,i bought it in August this yr,hopefully it will last me for awhile,he was a decent mechanic hopefully he done good things to the engine to make it last this long,my favorite engine of all time was the 351 Cleveland an 390,sure love to have either one of those in my newer truck but im to uneducated to go about such a task now,i also have a 07 mountaineer 4.6 3V with hundred 80 thousand miles an runs like a strapped ass ape an gets 18 to 19 miles to the gallon,but its not like the older days when you could put just about any replacement you desired to in your vehicle,i have heard alot of bad about the 3V but like the one coment here nothing lasts forever so true thank you for sharing!!
In 250000 miles never had that problem take care of your motor most people dont do that my truck will rust out before the 5.4 gives up
I believe these engines have quite a few updates in regards to rebuilding them that address the timing and valve train issues along with the oil pump issues…I do believe the spark plug issues have been fixed as well if you buy the right rebuild kits or buy a long block from the right engine builder…and as far as oil goes, Ford has a bad habit of recommending extremely high oil change intervals…like three times higher than they should be…my dads Fusion is recommended to go 16,000kms which is ridiculous…I change it for him every 7000-8000kms and as far as the 5.4 goes I would not go over 5k-6kms especially if you are working the engine and use a good high quality oil…Ford wants the 5w20 used but they tried that with their Ecoboost engines and paid out a lot of warranty repairs on major engine failures for their troubles!…as far a I’m concerned, 5w20 is a car engine oil and should not be used in light truck engines…5w30 is the way to go…they were even using that 5w20 in the V10 which was ridiculous!!
Why or what caused a 2010 fx4 5.4 to stall after about 20 mins of driving
I have a 2005 5.4 it cranks but won't start but I got it to start it runs for a few seconds then it stalls & will not start again. But if I wait until the next day it will starts runs for a few seconds and stalls and won't start again until the next day. What do you think it could be
Might be fuel pump or injector issues. Check for P codes, and if you have a voltage tester, look at your fuse box and see if one does not receive voltage ECU related.

Don't buy one, 5.4 3v. Knock everywhere. Turds
