Don't forget the classic countering recoveries.
Maybe could have mentioned counter against recoveries with a hitbox. But great summary nonetheless.
You have a really good point, I knew I was missing something. It’s very matchup specific but I should have mentioned it
Yeah but that's not really an Ike specific thing. Might have been worth a brief mention though.
I started off with Ike in Brawl, moved to Izaw’s videos for Ultimate, and now your videos are helping me keep learning and improving! You are appreciated sir
2:21 Back-throw down-air, 0 to death best feeling to land that
5:49 Actually the small additional tip hitbox is only present on the uncharged Eruption. The big hitbox is also larger. So technically uncharged is better for 2 framing. However it generally won’t be enough to kill so charging it is still better to kill, just a bit harder to 2 frame with.
This is true, generally the positioning is the same though
@@SoloJones Yeah
Up-air is also pretty great for edgeguarding at certain percents as it can destroy floaties or people who try to recover high and it can kill. Some riskier stuff to go for is side-b gimps off-stage because it refreshes if you land the hit.
Good stuff! It's nice to see this stuff broken down in such an easily digestible way for players who are probably timid about going off stage due to the potential risk. I hope this helps get more Ikes to go off stage and take those stocks quicker and more efficiently. Eruption having armor and being able to trade with basically any recovery would have been worth mentioning explicitly I think. I know you showed it beating out a full charged DK Punch but some players may not connect the dots there.
I don’t think armor is really viable to go for intentionally most of the time, just a niche knowledge check kind of deal
Phuckin lit, thanks bro. I salute your willingness to share great knowledge
Thank u.
Ive been trying to learn ike to cover bad MUs.
This helps a lot. I never went offstage since I didn't know how properly edgeguard with Ike.
watching this a few years later, I still can't seem to wrap my mind around how dtilt into bair works, it feels so tight and near impossible to do online
props to the black knight theme
Great video. Can’t wait to go try some of these. I usually stick with fair, but definitely need to mix it up and have more options as it gets too predictable. I have a tough time timing dair so that it’s out by the time the opponent is in the right spot.
I'm so excited for this
Thank you
Nice Fun Fact
Imma leave this like here
Can’t wait to watch the video :)
Great video solojones!
edge guarding with side B is down right hilarious
Captain Falcon’s Down-Air’s sweet spot is way easier to land though as there’s way less overlap with the sour spot hitbox.
Would be sweet in a patch if they made Ike’s easier to land by offsetting the sour spot hitbox a bit. They could balance that by making the sour spot less powerful.
I’d rather keep the sour spot I think
I'm not even sure that's necessary. Ike's sourspot is so stupidly strong that the term "sourspot" is basically a misnomer. It's literally Ike's strongest aerial, so when you're off the stage right by the blastzone it still kills crazy early.
Evello37 I think it’s stronger than bair technically but bair sends at a better angle for killing
@@Evello37 Well yeah the “sour” spot is super strong and kills on the sides. It’s just that personally if I go for D-Air it’s to get a spike. It’s not “necessary” indeed, would just be a nice QoL buff.
As a Ike main I really appreciate your video. Thank you!
I think all of us Ike mains appreciate his videos.
Hello to all Ike mains!
I've mained Ike since Brawl and was never comfortable playing off the map because of how slow and heavy it feels playing him. I think it's time I give it a try.
been playing him since brawl, too, and I go off the edge like a psycho with a scorched earth policy
this is going to sound bad, but are use up smash at the middle of the platform on the left side or at a map like FD I’ll just stand near it, but not at the edge because then you can counter nearly every single get up
By the way you can runoff fair then reverse aether on the stage, that's faster so it can catch more characters off guard !
Thanks bruv 🤓
That's a pretty interesting fact...perhaps I'll subscribe for more interesting factoids
Nair
4:00 8:00
To everyone who keeps saving enemies with neutral air thinking it would spike.
Nice
Dumb question: Is there any difference between short hop nair and full hop nair? (situation wise)
There are some characters that for eruption you need to stand as far on the edge as possible for in order for it to hit, like Luigi
I thought I was subscribed already
Or I use counter
forgot the counter bro ;)
I feel like Ike is underappreciated. I don't know anyone that plays ike at all. I like to main him. He's a genuinely appealing character.
