This channel is a gem. Calm demeanor with no unnecessary vlog content is a breath of fresh air for a UA-cam car build series.
Completely agree. “We need to connect this battery module, but first here’s 15 minutes of video of me going to a store, walking my dog, and cooking dinner set to some royalty free lo-fi jazz”
@@mr_voron Hey dont talk about rich rebuilds that way!
Exactly. This is just what I want to see.
The only problem with being so straight and solid with the content is that the content quantity can only go as fast as the projects go. And the projects will always have delays and slowness because of parts availability or just redoing things 3 or 4 times.
@@mr_voron 🤣🤣
"I'll just do this for now." Famous last words.
Nothing is more permanent than a temporary solution.
Temporary... unless it works
10 minutes every week or so, just isn't enough. I think I've become a 'Superfast Mat' addict. There must be a group somewhere, I can go to and talk about my feelings. Until I find it......All hail the algorithm.
called...hic
Man, I liked your trike project
Welcome to SFM Anon and all hail the Algorithm
Agreed. I get way too excited when the notification shows up.
Hi I'm MasterofNone and I have a SuperfastMatt problem.
"Maybe I'll just work on it a little bit" for an engineer means lots of changes.
"It works, for now" so basically it's going to stay like that forever?
A.K.A. temporary permanent.
"Nothing is more permanent than a temporary solution."
It's only temporary unless it works.
Superfast Matt is the antidote for all the bro'd out automotive UA-cam channels. Consistently funny, smart and self deprecating. Just wondering, anyone else miss four-eyed Matt?
Ronald Finger and Fuzzy Dice Projects have a similar vibe, in case you need more.
@@Arzon527 I'll check them out. Thanks for the tip!

"how to make a less than 10 minute video more interesting than a regular youtuber 30 minute video" - By Matt, The SuperFast
Putting off must-do projects to do fun and interesting projects is the bane of my existence.
I feel that you have tragically overlooked a “drive by wire” system that is not only an order of magnitude more complex, but would allow for the steering wheel to drop from the ceiling or be attached to another car altogether.
I like the way you think. You're on the right channel.
Hands down one of my favorite channels to watch. I love the "super genius" mixed with "f this math right here" part of your clips!!!
This!
Super Fast Matt or how I learned to love the algorithm. 😀
Oh, we are back to the classic "all hail the algorithm" outro, I was missing that.
The real reason I watch your channel is that I share that thinking of "I shouldn't do that at all. At least not right now. Okay, I am doing that thing tomorrow."
Ah yes "just a little bit" can't wait for the 30 hour montage of matt working on it
Absolutely nothing wrong with getting side tracked on an unnecessary complication ;)
Matt you're my favorite Engineer. They say engineers cant wrench or machine but you seem to be good at everything!
@@joemichele5412 And all that stock so he can retire early
As ot should be
Hey, I have almost that exact same lathe! Its one of those tools that once you have one you just endup using it for EVERYTHING 🤣, even when its super overkill.
As an pilot and engineer I really like your videos. Just straight talk and information. Great...👍👍👍
I am also an pilot ✈️
Oshcut's laser cutting can bend your metal as well, if you dont wanna use a bench vice.
can never go wrong with brute force, but that does sound convenient....
SendCutSend will also bend. I was originally going to keep it straight and use spacers, but I changed my mind after I ordered the part.
Wow, when I saw those u-joints out of phase I started composing an explanation for you in my head. Glad to see it was part of the mock up and you already knew about phasing!! I agree, we need more superfast.
Your "I'll just do this for now" engineering is still 10x better than most of ours "perfect that's exactly what I wanted" engineering will ever be. Thanks for setting the bar way to high lol.
I like the direction this steering is going. Very cool turn signal idea.
Nice way to showcase steering solutions, and what compromises you make for the less ideal, the good, and the gooder. All hail the algorithm!
Continues to be my favorite build on UA-cam... Nice job Matt!
Your super clear description of the parts necessary to connect all the various pieces together is making my head explode I'm sure someone will look at the fabulous end product and say " Hey, I could have done this." Highly unlikely.
this is the only channel i have notifications on for a reason
Still think the steering column is a bit of a javelin! I would go for a collapsible column, one of those perforated tube jobs. Amazed the authorities let you use that setup.
I will watch any video you put out immediately now lmao
"Unnecessary complexity" spoken like a true engineer!!!!!!
Love the way these videos are presented
All hail the algorithm
Brilliant as always! Work always stops to watch a superfast!
YAY.. The Jag build is progressing once again!! You know what? I am thrilled, and a huge fan of your channel. Screw the Algorithm Just keep those excellent puns and video's coming. Besides' it's too late I already subscribed and clicked that button a long time ago, but I click that THUMBS UP Icon for all your content. Even those that are far removed from being about the JAG.
I am a FAN. NO not a TESLA fanboy. But this Jag is turning me into one. BEST build on the internet thus far.
Doesn't matter what I am doing, when I get notification that Matt has a new video, I am watching is as soon as possible. Nothing I like better than unnecessary complications, it is the reason my MGB now has a custom wiring harness and Deutsch connectors everywhere. Thanks for taking us along on this wild ride. Go Brandon.
I fell asleep half way through this vid. Still gave it a thumbs up because it is SuperfastMatt. I will have nightmares about steering columns with 1000 universal joints tonight.!
Your videos remind me of This Old Tony, it would be great to see you guys collaborate one day
Whew, that steering setup! I just mounted the motor in the cab behind the steering wheel and only using 2 u joints in the whole thing.
Steering column + wheel as potato masher is a new image for me. Thanks.
I’m glad you understand the appeal of unnecessary complexity❤️
Hello algorithm. This was a terrific episode. We all learned a lot. Join us sometime, won't you?
Love the "unnecessary complexity" music jam!
All hail the algorithm!
What Jeff said, 'cos he knows from experience. 😉
I love your way of thinking as much as your work.
I'm most impressed that this car could go all the way around the world in a straight line, if only there was a road.
"Your the potato." I am laughing so hard.
So glad you were on Hoonigan. Your channel has become one of my favorites just as fast as vice grip garage has
This man has so much knowledge
All hail the algorithm, wish it showed me your channel sooner! This is great stuff, keep it up!
"...but then I remembered that math is stupid and I don't care..." That had me cracking up!
Man I love this! Well done mate.
Great video!! Love the steering updates!!!
Looks great
Excellent solution to the steering issues
Finally! I just finished binging your video's a couple days ago and was waiting for a new one!
Matt you may be the best video maker in this whole platform. It became pretty clear to me with the pikes peak video but everything is gold, hilarious and you know your stuff. Keep it up always puts me in a good mood.
Bloody legend! Great vids.
It works for now is a nice way to say it's permanent.
All hail the algorithm.
Love your content! Love it!
Well Done as usual.
Still watching because although the content has no relevance to anything in ever likely to do, it's really interesting and entertaining. Love it.
The first time I designed steering for a truck I learned what people meant by bumpsteer. Thankfully I lived to attempt more deathtraps. Now I'm going to look up how you design a front suspension with a rack.
I said to myself when you were installing the EV steering, that you should have made a (rather complex I admit) bracket to mount the steering box/motor at a angle to better match the steering column. Yeah it woulda looked kinda funky at a angle on the firewall, but would have deleted at least 2 of the U-joints, which you have like 15 now lol. (P.s., I'm just rambling, I have no idea how to do most this stuff)
Thank you for creating this content. Extremely informative
Loving your explanations!
Great as always Matt - all hail the thingy…
"It works, for now" is the statement of a permanent solution
AvE, This Old Tony, SuperfastMatt combined project. The humor would be world class.
Beautiful steering wheel. 👍
Yeah, that Ghostbuster clip gets you a thumbs up :D.
Keep it up! Your Jag will be an amazing weekend ride thanks for sharing
Unnecessary complexity is why I love this channel. Plus the jokes.
i am so happy i found your channel
Unnecessary Complexity....
You're speaking my language 👍
AMAZINGNES!!!
Thumbs up for the Ghostbusters reference. Love these videos.
Im really loving this project.
Thank goodness you don't release 4 x 1 hour episodes a week. I would spend too much time watching those instead of fixing my own car
As long as this has been going on... still getting more done than me and my "projects".... All Hail the Algorithm!
Thumbs up for showing some Murray.
This man is a genius
That turn signal switch in the center of the wheel is sweet. I wish Tesla could figure out a way to put turn signals in the same place no matter how far you've turned the wheel.
Mass hysteria! 😂😂😂❤
Good luck with "a little bit of work" on your new steering. Cheers 🍻
You impressed me, so I subscribed! I am rebuilding a 56 Bug, with a 58 Mercury motor and a whole bunch of recycled and fabricated parts.
All hail!
The good thing about this build is with all the custom work & changes you'll have most of a car for your next project, loosely based around a Mustang 2.
Was there not a collapsible column that could be adapted to fit? I know that in the 1950s they were quite happy to point spears at the drivers, but it's not considered to be desirable these days.
Nice Nardi!
You might want to look at Constant Velocity joints for that steering. You may have already considered this already but just in case, here’s a free idea 😋
Looking forward to the next video on the completed drop box and turn signal.
All hail the algorithm. Oh and loving your work.
More, more, please
All hail unnecessary complexity 😉.
Matts uploading every few days keep us sane during the long months between binky updates. His humour and pacing is in a class of its own. Yay. I'll say that again. Yay.
I've read there are constant velocity joints, which are usually used on the steering. So this way there would be no problem with the different angles.
i want this channel to be in the 1 million + sub range . Hell Hail the Algo!
All hail SuperFastMatt
That drop box is a great idea.
Wating for the new video!
I never knew of a turn signal like that but now I wish they were all like that
Ah, universal joint phasing. Reminds me of the Lego Defender build, and all it's problems!
"You just need steer-by-wire"
Epic
You do impress us Matt! 😂
Years ago an old fella who was into yank cars had a Checker cab it had a Tripex chain right hand drive conversion , to me me it looked dodgey as hell , then a few years later a mate bought a Jeep Cherokee with a similar setup don't know where it was done , it had a bloody big box in the footwell , I have no problems driving left hookers my brothers had loads , just rambling on when you mentioned drop boxes this sprung to mind LOL , good build though keep up the overcomplicated work .
