    Great review mate. Looks super fun. I have the chilli sugar and neckbeard 2. Love both. Was wondering if the black barron would be different enough from those boards to deserve a spot in the quiver - any comment on how those 3 compare? (1-4ft beach breaks mostly)

    Might be a long shot, but could you please do a review of the black baron 2.1?

    Hey mate, deciding between BB, chilli sugar, and panda rocket fish. What are your thoughts? I want something that can be the daily driver in the mushy 1-3 foot range, but something I can still bring in waist to head high on some trips down to Central America and the Caribbean. Which would you roll with?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  2 роки тому

      Hey! The Rocket Fish or the Sugar.
      Probably the Sugar if you want versatility as the upright twin slows it to surf very differently than other boards like this…

    How would you compare this to the Chilli Sugar? Great Review.

    Hey mate,
    I’m looking at getting the black baron for 1-3ft waves which makes me think epoxy would be better but I live in Victoria and the conditions are more often a bit mushy so I’ve been told I should go the p/u for that reason.
    The waves you were surfing in this vid look a bit mushy and you seemed to be ok with the epoxy so just wondering what you would suggest I go for 1-3 ft waves and conditions half the time could be a bit mushy

    Hey mate, great review as always. Just curious which you prefer between the Chilli Sugar and Black Barron? I've been trying both and reckon I prefer the Sugar... it's bigger obviously but somehow I don't feel like it lacks much performance over the Black Barron?!

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  3 роки тому +1

      Hey mate!
      I think i'd go the Sugar over the Black Baron.
      Both are very capable of performance surfing, but the Sugar is a nicer board to surf when you just want to cruise and surf it as more of a cruisey an fun board, where the Black Baron wants you to work it and surf it like a performance board all of the time!

      @@TheSurfboardGuide mate spot on: since asking that I ended up reaching same conclusion and sold my black Barron. I have shorties for if the waves are more critical. The sugar is still surprisingly capable and more fun as a fish/twin.

    hey craig, i know this is late but love the reviews. Quick question i recetnly bought a 5'5 at 27.5 litres while i usually surf around 28 for my performance shortboards i couldnt decide wether to go the 5'6 29 litre or the 5'5 any recomendations.

      @TheSurfboardGuide  4 роки тому +1

      Hey mate - probably a bit late, but i would have gone up slightly rather than down...
      I'm sure you probably want the twin to have fun on, so taking volume away wouldn't help.

    Hey mate, loven the videos!!
    Quick question, how would you size the black Barron for 86kgs, 182cm, get in the water twice a week. Have you had a crack at the Go Fish?
    Cheers
    Matt

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  5 років тому

      Hey! I'd try an base it off your performance shortboard, maybe add around 1-2 litres more than what you would ride in that. You don't want it to big or too long, keeping it fairly short will keep it nice and responsive.

      Yeah - they felt too loose, not enough hold without the centre fin.

    Hi mate, great review as usual! I am between Black Baron x Serial Keeler x Sugar. What is your opinion about them? cheers

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  5 років тому +1

      Gees! Thats a tough one!
      The Black Baron is a little more high performance than the other two,and surfs closer to a thruster/shortboard. The Sugar and serial Keeler are very similar in the way they surf, so it'd be hard to separate them.

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  4 роки тому

      Hey! I haven't ridden the Mini-Twin, but I think that is more of a classic fish style board where the Black Baron is more of a high performance twin fin! Have you ridden the mini-twin?

      @capricorn_drifter 4 роки тому

      @@TheSurfboardGuide Craig thanks for the reply, no but trying to decide between the 2, looking for more performance and seen Asher Pacey on the mini twin, both would be in the 5'3 range.

    Craig, awesome review! I like how you got more specific about what waves you took it in and what waves you think it's good for, also comparing it to the other fishes was great. I'm definitely keen to check one of these out! Would you say you prefer it more in EPS or PU?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  5 років тому +1

      Thanks - stoked you enjoyed the board review!
      The PU I initially had felt really good, just much too big, so it's hard to say what I preferred. And the EPS definitely felt lively and added to the boards ability to grovel in small and average waves.
      If you are looking at the two boards I'd say grab the EPS if you're thinking you want it mainly for average waves, or grab the PU if you're thinking you might ride it as more of an all rounder and in decent surf!

    Where can i find those fins ?

  • @mrmr314
    @mrmr314 2 роки тому +1

    You need to put a ruler or dowel stick over the bottom to show us the vee or concaves. The one in your video is too short for you. You may want to try keel fins in it too. These boards need Futures boxes for those of us who have lost too many FCS fins over the years (FCS must be screwed in too or you will lose them - but you won't lose Futures fins).

      the C.I Twin? actually quite similar except I couldn't surf the C.I Twin without the centre stabiliser fin in it. But both quite high performance twins that would perform in very similar waves!

      It's an old Astrodeck John John Florence, but I chopped it shorter as it was too long for this short board... They don't make them any more, but Astrodeck Australia still have a little bit of stock of them - www.astrodeckaus.com.au/
