The fun part of seeing Kana and Aqua interact is that homeboy cannot keep up his edgy act around her. She's too real for that. But sadly Kana is like a favorite battering doll for the author 😞 lmao
After watching the entire analysis, I would like to point out the fact that Aqua has the ability to build genuine connections with people, he just has a lot of barriers to entry. In this episode, it seems like Kana pole vaults over most of his barriers in one fell swoop. When Aqua does something sociopathic, it is for his plan or it is for someone he cares about. In episode 2, he denied Ruby’s chance to become an idol because she wouldn’t listen to what he’d been telling her for the past 10 years. It seems wrong, but to Aqua, it was the ONLY way to prevent Ruby from following in Ai’s footsteps. He also joins the same school as her to keep an eye on the people around her more so than to keep an eye on Ruby, herself. Ruby’s airheadedness and innocence has to be a huge point of concern for Aqua. I don’t think she would recognize if she was being followed home or consistently watched by the same person. Aqua feels that he would. I don’t think Aqua would try to intentionally isolate or intimidate anyone he has a genuine connection with. At this point, I think the only people that are safe are Ruby, Miyako, the Director (and mommy director) and Kana. If anyone slights any of the people he cares about he will do anything he can to protect or prop them up from the shadows. He has seen what how powerless he can be if something unexpected happens to someone he cares about, so he is compensating for it by trying to as perceptive as he can to prevent anything from happening from the shadows before it starts.
Damn, the subs in this are leaving out stuff left and right. A big thing i disliked about them was when it made Ruby say "My brother's obsessed with me" instead of "My brother's a siscon" because the whole point of her saying that is: 1. haha funni 2. Ruby is heavily downplaying Aqua's obsession and trauma because she genuinely does not understand it. She gets that he's been affected a lot by Ai's passing, but she doesn't truly grasp just how badly it is (especially since she doesn't even know what he's up to)
Me listening to a 30 min lesson : falls asleep Me watching Ed make a 3 hour analysis on a 20 min episode : diligently takes notes Anyways, wonderful analysis as always ! You never seize to amaze me and make me laugh 😂 French Ed gets me everytime. Your insight on the show as a psychologist and former director just completely breaks my mind. Sherlock himself could never...
After re-watching the episode with you I noticed something. In order to apply to the performing arts program of their high school you need to be affiliated with an agency. Yet the producer said that Kana is dirt cheap as she is a freelancer. So the (presumed) fallout between her and her agency must have happened in the past year. Could it be that she is so glad that Aqua is still part of "the industry" and desperate to connect with him because she has no other real connection left in the field?
It is also possible, that the rule is not ironclad and they can make exceptions, if you are already well established entertainer who is still actively in the industry. (I mean if it was an absolute rule, being dropped by agency would probably also mean being kicked out of the school/transfered from the performing arts into the regular part of school.) In the first place, the purpose for that rule is probably to have some guarantee that the you are indeed part of the industry, even if you are currently wannabe nobody (like Ruby). But while Kana is in decline, she should still have more than enough credentials.
@@sojtus8681 my intake on that rule is that it's there mainly so that they know where you are and why you're absent from some classes when there's a conflict, I'm not sure but in this school I don't even think they teach them actual showbiz skills, it's just a school that makes it easier for teen entertainers. I could be wrong tho
No spoilers; but to correct some misunderstandings: May or may not have noticed, but Kana’s invitation to her house had nothing to do with sex. She just wanted a place for the 2 of them to catch up, and it is true that she is still seen as a celebrity, although on the smaller side. When Kana told Aqua she was glad he was still in the industry, it felt like he was more taken aback than triggered(more he felt conflicted), as he’s hearing something like that come from Kana of all people; and from the way the show is going, Aqua looks like hes going to develop a sort of love-hate relationship with the industry. Clarification: Aqua recognizes that he has to network and promote himself as an asset if he wants to find his mother’s killer; and he knew the Director was someone he could trust because he was the first one to really speak on his level and treat him like a big brother/mentor figure; ie, take him under his wing. Aqua doesnt necessarily want to stop Ruby from being an idol. He simply wants to prevent another tragedy from occurring; to the point where he’ll become a murderer to do so. Stopping Ruby from becoming an idol was more a preventative measure, but when it was clear it wasnt going to work and his idea could likely backfire hard if pushed further, he decides to settle for the next best thing; which is allowing her to be an idol, but close to home where they can help in case of emergencies. One of Ai’s biggest issues that caused her downfall WAS the fact that she had no immediate family to rely on to help protect her in situations like the stalker one, after all. Both Kana and Aqua think that their abilities are less than they are; with Aqua downplaying how good he is because he doesnt realize that his “acting” from when he was a doctor(his ability to mask his true feelings on the set [in the hospital room]) are actually very effective in his ability to act, period. Maybe it was clearly hinted, or maybe its because its my favorite thing when two characters fall in love due to unorthodox methods; but from the end of episode 2 and all of episode 3, it was pretty clear that Kana was going to be Aqua’s love interest, as i just love the idea of someone like Kana being SO obsessed for YEARS with one upping/being better than this random kid who upstaged her that she ends up admiring and falling for Aqua. And finally, I believe that there is a very big possibility that Aqua and Ruby NEVER find out about each other’s past lives; for the simple fact that it brings NO benefit to the story’s narrative whatsoever. All it would do is ruin the relationship that Aqua and Ruby have, whether it be in the way you predicted or it simply makes their relationship awkward, as Serina WAS Aqua’s de facto idol, and Aqua was technically Serina’s first love. So I honestly think Aka wouldnt bother continuing that plot point for the simple reason that it only brings negatives to the storyline.
Hey, I really like your analysis of the characters as a psychologist. The way you manage to catch hints about their behaviours and though patterns based off your knowledge makes me appreciate the story even more. I've been reading the manga since I saw the guys from trash taste talk about it in their presentation of next manga awards back in august 2021, even bough the official french release as soon as it came out (currently vol 6, and soon vol 7) but sadly for me, my friends aren't into this genre. I found your channel searching people catching on how massive aqua's trauma is. Love your content, keep up the good work!
when you re wound that karaoke segment i was focused on kana the whole time and didnt pay attention to what aqua did, even the second time around i didnt pick up on it, your insight made this episode way more enjoyable, or at least in my case. and for the ham actors, honestly i didnt think much and hated the performance as it was poor. once again thanks for pointing out the effortand skill behind the delevery, thanks for the analysis, and i'll catch you next week , take care Ed!
37:04 woah that prediction blew me away. Like his attention to detail is so insane that a single word can completely map out an entire aspect of someone’s personality.
The opening is mostly from Ai's perspective, it's not uncommon that the message from the opening isn't that joined to the images of the second, the MV shoes it better what the lyrics try to say.
I can't believe that I've watched over 10 hours of reactions and analysis on just 3 episodes of anime. But this is awesome! Very insightful, while still keeping it entertaining! Can't wait for the remaining episodes and analysis.
Hi, Ed! I watched your stream live (albeit just lurking, haha), and I enjoyed your commentary and analysis, especially post Oshi no Ko EP3 (when you read 45510, OP, and ED). Looking forward to your future vids (even with other anime). Self care, man :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! edit: 1:24:32 - "were six minutes in" I FUCKING DIED😂 anyway, back to my usual rambling in your comment section. yes, kana is indeed best girl. and the fact that you predicted that the producers are just using her is so *chefs kiss* (wizardry). i really love how they animated kana. i feel like even the animators knows shes best girl. your breakdown on kana when she was following aqua, and on aqua when hes in the karaoke with kana is so gooood. its amazing how much psychology stuff you were able to find and i cant wait for the next episodes to see how much more youd explore. it really feels like this anime is made for you given your knowledge on psychology, and your background with the theater and voice acting stuff. your prediction power (wizardry) just grows stronger because of your background and stuff. you also mentioned how aqua is stuck on the past, and how ruby is looking towards the future. i think its pretty obvious, but it also connects with the ending with aqua walking downstairs and ruby walking up. though you kinda explored that last week i think, so yeah. anyway, kana must be protected ❤️
This is the only way I've put my psych minor into practice lol Love the way you're analyzing everything and basically cooking the story as you go, while making me think and pull out my notes from my psych courses to have epiphanies everytime 😂
It's Thursday and I just finished the video. It was amazing. I can't put into words how much I enjoyed seeing you react to Kana's questions and then notice how she was testing Aqua's needs according to Maslow's hierarchy. Blew my mind. Thank you, and thank ProXyt for all their hard work, you both rock.
Great video Ed!! I'm on my first year of studying psychology and your videos are amazing xD I've also been learning a lot about myself through this, your description of someone with an anxious attachment style hits way too close to home dhdhxgdgs. Looking forward to the next episode with you! (It's one of my favorite scenes, I can't believe we got cockblocked shdgddgdg) Keep up the good work!!
Appreciate you a ton! And also yayyyy for studying psychology ❤️🙏 Hope that the videos help in solidifying some of the concepts being taught but also thank youuuuuu 💗
You got me to realise something interesting. Kana was called a Genius Child actor, her ego got a bit inflated by that. When she met Aqua she realised someone can be a far greater actor than her & thought she had to become better. Aqua was told he had a lot of acting potential. He attempted to start that career... & after coming across many aspiring actors he deemed as better than Him.. He completely Gave up on acting. Basically Kana & Aqua had the opossite response to their career when facing someone better than them
It'd be kinda neat if the Director and Kana team up to try and get Aqua into acting, the way Aqua and Miyako kinda manage Ruby's career Then for symmetry Ruby needs to bully Kana, I guess
The ultimatium analysis just schocked me for real, so much information from one or two scenes that just got decipher, can't wait for you to see Akane and her character development. Also I fking lost myself when u made the prediction about Kana thinking she was valued by the director but in reality they didn't care, actual wizardry right there.
The visuals in the opening have little to no correlation/nothing to do with the song ‘Idol’ by Yoasobi. The entire OP song is based on Ai’s perspective of life in the spotlight.
Don’t like the distraction of chat Missing lines in this show can be huge so just pause the episode instead of letting it run while checking on chat Find the whole talk about Kana leading Aqua on off the point , especially when she explains her reason that she can’t be seen outside easily. So they need a private space
Ed's stream, Ed's rules. He wants the chat, he wants to engage. Believe he's said before about how these videos and streams aren't merely for him, but also to help people with mental health/awareness/learning/et cetera.
I personally think aqua is only one ever able to nail the creepy roles Or the roles that are closer to himself As suggested in episode 2 when he had epic fails in acting
@@Vedhon I called em epic fails since he was, as a child, someone you'd consider to be a master class actor but turns out is actually just your average Joe If that can't be called an epic fail idk what is Not saying it in a bad way tho I'm just stating the facts as they are.
The "Oui oui" is killing me. XD Its because I'm eating isnt it? My guard is down, so watching you while eating makes you seem more funny and affable to me! >:3
My peak was a peak because it marked a time where I felt stress only from school. Almost none from elsewhere. After HS my life was only stressful moments with spots of no stress. Not a peak for a personal high; a peak because emotional strength and will power only went down from there. Thats why when I realized it the force of spiritual impact was immense.
There are a lot of different translations for the opening found on the internet that might prioritize different things. Exact translation/“accuracy”, spirit of the translation (maybe they’ll change up some lyrics that natives of the language might not understand literally or culturally that might slightly sacrifice an exact translation and “accuracy”), sounding like the original song, flowing well and not sounding awkward in the language it’s translated to, etc.) Japanese is just so different from English. Some people will have their preferred versions of the song. YAOSOBI made an official English version of the opening too.
It would be really interesting to see you analyze Kuzu no Honkai it's based in the work of the coauthor of oshi no ko,and I think you'd have a field trip with the psychology of the characters 😂 I decided to watch oshi no ko bc I'm a fan of how human Kuzu no Honkai is!
Alright, I'm starting this video on Monday, let's see how long it takes me to watch it complete. Also, I believe I read in the chat that today was your birthday. In case that's right, happy birthday, Ed! We all are so lucky to have you, thank you for being awesome! In case it's not your birthday, who cares! We are still lucky, and still thank you for being awesome! Keep having a good week and see you around!
I'm only on your reaction episode 3, but I just saw episode 7 of the show, and I'm really interested to see your thoughts on it! Gonna keep going through the reaction videos to catch up, but that sure is a lot of hours of psychological analysis to get through.
I really wish i could've made it to the stream, but life happened. Im hoping I can make it to the next one, but also, happy birthday whenever that is bro.
Best girl kana. these vids are great i mean how'd bro predict that the producers are using her bro is predicting soo much and it's coming true it's almost aery like I swearrr. You legit predicted that the actor don't give a f like howw. Also god what did i just see 1:22:58. Anyways Kana must be protected, your reaction was funny at the end. The episode keeps endingteasing the next ep broo i even read some of the manga its just too hard to wait.
Oh ed if you're feeling like this to kana then i'm waiting for when the girl 3 coming into the anime xD Great analysis as always Need longerr vidss lool
Paused at 2:23:26. SharkmenRO you have that completely backwards. The way I read your comment it was D&D doing the wrong. GoT S5 was the one in the wrong about the book if anything.
People keep comparing Aqua to Light Yagami. I see him more as a variation of LeLouch Vi Britainia. I'd love to see you dissect Fruits Basket or Horimiya.
Ed went al Rebel-rebel on us; putting on that goofy red hat. Now he has 1/8 more HP... OK its not Green but we can't all be an elite American fighting force.
just to put it out there, there's nothing objectively better about the other subs, it's just another way to translate it, chat was just used to the other ones
"On a meta level is this show a lie" Yes, definitely. As someone who studies animation. One of the most important bits I learned that fundamentally, you are trying to lie to your viewer into thinking that these drawings you made are actually moving. And stuff like even simple audio can transform a simple choppy animation into a living scene. Even the WORD animation comes from anima, you are giving the drawings a soul, a fake one of course. And this is just the visual angle of the show. Of course this is also a scrip, and the characters aren't real.
This all of this!! Nahuel you’re amazing! Glad you brought this up cause yes you get a golden dorito (I give self care Doritos on stream and this is a golden comment )
Is it clinging to the past when you were always the same way? Remember that the temporal element of things is not 3 sided. Are you living Paralel to your current self (Yes, I feel that more); are you just prior or looped in your POV. Prior not as in past but as in cromagnum or lizard. prior evolved thing vs current race. Are you as you are meant to be but ahead of being that thing (the destination and not the journey). Are you in fact your own Grand parent? Any sci-fi or comedic time use can apply to ones POV; so why limit it to 3.
Shojou or otherwise I would feel immensly possessive of the scenes. You are not allowed to alter anything without me telling the crew involved directly yes to their faces and getting video evidence of the whole process. Nothing gets under my skin more then some douche thinking they have a right to massacre the flow of a story. I will be top hierarchy of the full process with no voice over mine in terms of veto power. If it does bad I want it to be MY FAULT alone for being unreasonable. I am rarely confident that my failure in such a case would have the probability of 1% max. 99% success rate because I made sure fans got the manga/LN what ever as direct as possible. Zero excuses when CGI exists along side anamatronics and such. If my first attempted failed because of fans actually not liking the faithful showing then it would be never again. I am this strong about it due to Promised Never Land. Long story short 2nd season does not exist contrary to what you might find it is that terribly done. The mangas final arc is a real head scratcher where I am just not sure how I feel. It could of been different but not sure about better. My expectations were raised to high.
The fun part of seeing Kana and Aqua interact is that homeboy cannot keep up his edgy act around her. She's too real for that.

Ed's stream, Ed's rules. He wants the chat, he wants to engage.
Believe he's said before about how these videos and streams aren't merely for him, but also to help people with mental health/awareness/learning/et cetera.
I personally think aqua is only one ever able to nail the creepy roles
Or the roles that are closer to himself
As suggested in episode 2 when he had epic fails in acting
He didn't have any "epic fails" he came simply to the conclusion he is very average needing lots of work to reach little results
@@Vedhon I called em epic fails since he was, as a child, someone you'd consider to be a master class actor but turns out is actually just your average Joe
If that can't be called an epic fail idk what is
Not saying it in a bad way tho
I'm just stating the facts as they are.
I really enjoy watching these, and I tend to watch them on Saturday while I'm playing a game that I can easily pause.
Happy Birthday mah man Ed
Thanks ❤
A comment for comments sake, is a fair trade!
The "Oui oui" is killing me. XD Its because I'm eating isnt it? My guard is down, so watching you while eating makes you seem more funny and affable to me! >:3
2:36:29 proof that Ed isn’t clairvoyant… Or at least, that’s what he wants us to think. Maybe he did it on purpose to try and shake us off his trail.
Sith Ed
I love how you do 3 hours from 20 minutes
There are a lot of different translations for the opening found on the internet that might prioritize different things. Exact translation/“accuracy”, spirit of the translation (maybe they’ll change up some lyrics that natives of the language might not understand literally or culturally that might slightly sacrifice an exact translation and “accuracy”), sounding like the original song, flowing well and not sounding awkward in the language it’s translated to, etc.) Japanese is just so different from English. Some people will have their preferred versions of the song. YAOSOBI made an official English version of the opening too.
happy bday my man, great stuff
Thanks 🙏 Glad you’re liking it ❤
It would be really interesting to see you analyze Kuzu no Honkai it's based in the work of the coauthor of oshi no ko,and I think you'd have a field trip with the psychology of the characters 😂 I decided to watch oshi no ko bc I'm a fan of how human Kuzu no Honkai is!
Thanks for changing subs
I'm only on your reaction episode 3, but I just saw episode 7 of the show, and I'm really interested to see your thoughts on it! Gonna keep going through the reaction videos to catch up, but that sure is a lot of hours of psychological analysis to get through.
THAT ENDING XDDDDDDD
O7
1:57:33 Ed you have sinned, "Hello there" is a peak acting scene
I can't wait for your next episode react. It was an amazing one for both Kana and Aqua moments.
Ed: "What do you mean by that?"
お誕生日おめでとうエドさま
Thank you ❤
Masaya Kaburagi will become one of the more interesting character later down the line. I have complex feeling about him.
2:40:20 I want more evil ed asmr
Next time 🥹👀
Wizarding from the start
Oh ed if you're feeling like this to kana then i'm waiting for when the girl 3 coming into the anime xD
Great analysis as always
Need longerr vidss lool
Happy birthday
Happy birthday Ed😊
I just realized that the Manga they are talking about was the same one the gang in Kaguya read.
Kana surviving on canned food means she was lying about having enough money for constant Ubereats....
You force me to watch the whole reaction due to how insightful you are in relation to other reactors.
Paused at 2:23:26.
SharkmenRO you have that completely backwards. The way I read your comment it was D&D doing the wrong.
GoT S5 was the one in the wrong about the book if anything.
Kana is best girl
Kana supremacy 🛐🛐🛐🛐
Oh boy oh man..the analysis 🙃....
16:35 speaking of inside jokes, why does that reaction from Kana remind me of Kaguya-sama anime?
because its the same writer
Happy bday Ed 🎂
Tbh ed didnt predict about the mangaka. I would be pissed too.
Almost halfway through the manga, and if im correct, youre gonna have a field day with the later episodes lol
GL😂👍
Damn the title again 🔥🔥🔥✍️✍️✍️
People keep comparing Aqua to Light Yagami. I see him more as a variation of LeLouch Vi Britainia.
I'd love to see you dissect Fruits Basket or Horimiya.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ED
1:17:20 bad feeling. Because i actually have manga ideas and i want only anime.
Ed went al Rebel-rebel on us; putting on that goofy red hat.
Now he has 1/8 more HP... OK its not Green but we can't all be an elite American fighting force.
Happy birthday.🎉
Happy birthday ed
Ed the wizard strikes again 😂
1:11:30 no fuckin wayyyy
just to put it out there, there's nothing objectively better about the other subs, it's just another way to translate it, chat was just used to the other ones
Kana can get through to Aqua. She is what Ai was to him in his past life
my fav is the blue haired girl
Im just saying if you read the most recent chapter in the manga, you would be screaming "Noooooooooo!"
Feliz cumple (•♡•)/
Gracias ❤️
"On a meta level is this show a lie"
Yes, definitely.
1:29:55 maybe because she didn't have a dad?
2:08:00
Kana is best girl
Is she best girl?
I mean maybe in this show, but Marin from my dress up darling is still best girl.
