I think that combat doctrine also matters. The USA never designed the Abrams for export. It was a tank designed to fight the Soviet Union in Europe against larger numbers of enemy tanks. The T-90 was designed to be cheap, reliable, easy to make and exportable to other countries. China and Japan both have different classes of tanks for combat in different environments. Japan has light tanks that can transport on nearly any road or bridge, but also heavy tanks for attacking enemy tanks.
Some tanks are the best for some countries and terrible for other countries.
Japanese tanks are limited by their railroad tunnels.
Japanese rails are mostly narrow gauge, so the tunnels are also narrow.

It is important on what ground the tank is supposed to be used. Hence the maximum permissible weight. After all, you can create an absolutely invulnerable tank, but it will weigh 100 tons. Each country has clearly defined the maximum permissible weight of its tanks for the defense of its country, on its soil. Also not unimportant are the problems with transportation by air, sea or rail. Weight is always a critical parameter.
Absolutely right, which is why the newest Leopard can get away with its enormous weight, being designed to operate almost exclusively in Europe.

In the 90's, France has already some prototype of turrets with 140 mm gun forr the Leclerc, to change the Leclerc in Leclerc 2. (NCO, Former french Tank leader which did the EAABC Saumur in the 90's and saw these turrets in tests in 1995-1996). The 140 mm OFL 2 is a very efficient ammunition and can pierce every armoured car.

Well, there is a project going on to upgrade the spanish Leopard 2e with more armord, there is already a unit complete with the number 312 .
This upgrade change is name to Leopard 2e Tortuga(turtle) with one of the main changes being is add on bar armord to protect the tank from hollow charge proyectails
For that is the leopard 2a7v it has a improved hull which is rocketproof
And in 2023 there will be a leopard 2a7a1 with a trophy system

@@pyroakakohleblock584 but anyways the challenger 3 owes its superiority to the germans. thanks to the German 120mm smoothbore gun, it will be able to break through the T 90s and T 14s head-on. the old standard engine from the challenger 2 is to be replaced by a German 1500hp engine which is supposed to bring the challenger 3 up to 100 km/h. the tower was redesigned and completed by the germans. a large part of the electronics is also German. The Challenger 3 project was completed in cooperation with Germany, since the British tank industry was technically behind and had to catch up. so it is written.

There is no T90bvm. There are T90M for the Russian army and T 90ms for orders from other countries. There is also a T 80BVM, but it has nothing to do with the t90, it is a completely different machine.

That's cuz their tanks are heavy and large, if you managed to fit that kind of engine into say a t-90 it would go light tank levels of speed

T-90MS is capable of knocking out any western tank on the market. I've seen real footage showing M1A2s being fucked up by one russian ATGM, which can be shot by any 125mm russian gun, including T-90M, T-80BVM, T-72B3 and Sprut SD.

T-90MS was made in 2019. that ATGM wont even be able to hit a modern abrams with APS systems on it, nobody is saying " oh the T series cant destroy an abrams should the situation favour them, but what you have to realize is that the T series tanks are severely disadvantaged in nearly every single scenario because they lack the onboard systems, tank layout ( depression being a huge factor) and overall surrounding support. if you pitted a T-90MS against a M1A2SepV3 in a 1 v 1 it's almost guaranteed that the abrams will win due to several key factors, better optics, better thermal imaging, better gun handling, an actual crewmember to load the gun making them fire nearly twice as fast as the T-90MS' autoloader could ever do, it's armor is stronger its hull down profile is smaller and least of not all, its ammunition is far superior to that of the T90MS.

@@Elbereth_TV there's at least 50 T-90MS. US units only received SEPv3 last year. You seem to have fallen for this myth that the Abram's FCS allows it to destroy any tank without breaking a sweat. Which is simply not true. The US may claim that it has an FCS so magical that it can destroy everything, but that's yet to be proven against anything besides ancient Chinese and Soviet vehicles like Type-59, T-62, and the downgraded T-72M tanks. Plus the US defense industry is literally known for over exaggerating and claiming they have the best when they either don't or they made something so ridiculously expensive that it's almost pointless.
Now back on the topic of trophy. Trophy on abrams entered service in 2020. Prototype testing is what started in 2025. The trophy system cannot intercept top attack munitions, or RPG 30. Which will almost always be used alongside T-90MS. T-90MS also has Relikt ERA, which combined with a newly welded turret, may have a chance of stopping rounds from the Abrams.
Off track from this argument, let's also note that there's a chance they may actually meet face to face in the middle east, where these may come face to face. While yes there may only be around 50 T-90MS with only Russia having them. The T-90MS based Karrar actually has a chance of facing up against the Abrams and other of these modern tanks of Iranian enemies. Saudi Arabia has M1A2S (just an American Abrams without some DU in the turret, UAE has Leclerc, Turkey has Altay based on K2, Israel has Merkava IVm, and Qatar has Leopard 2A7+.
