As an Italian I just wanna say that Akman tried to help Jangmin out with the "cattiva sorte" sentence. In Italian we most likely say "sfortuna", but I think he wanted to help him translating it in a similar way to "mala suerte"... and Jangmin replied using "miedo" instead of "pavor" which was definitely easier to understand. Thank you, man! e.e
Dictionary says "miedo" comes from latin "metus". I don't know if Italian have any word coming from that root. Synonims are "temor" from latin "timor, timoris" and "pavor" from latin "pavor, pavoris".
Parlo lo spagnolo ma sono in italia per quasi un anno e non avevo capito quella frase e immagino che sia per quello 😅 sono abituata a sentire sfortuna haha e anche con con il piccione che pensavo che la parola era colomba🤷♀️

Don't worry. As a third party who is neither italian nor spanish, I can say that italy won lol. Akman basically got almost all the rough meanings of all the sentences except for the one on fears
WOW, Italy should have totally won by a lot. Based off of getting the entire meaning, Italy got it nearly every single time (except 1). Also, Min had things repeated to him slowly almost word by word, while as the Italian guy mostly guessed on the first try. Italy hands down.
Spanish at its full, native speed is notoriously hard to understand for non-natives, so the Italian guy would definitely have had to request slowed down repeats had the Spaniard not been deliberately slowing down his speech from the get go.

I had to ask my dad (he's from spain). The closest friend he has is Italian and they always spoke Spanish and Italian when they spoke and understood either really well. But my dad said that Italians understand Spanish better than Spaniards understand Italians.
I think it depends also on the cultural background of that person because some Italian dialects turn out quite similar to Spanish so it gets easier to understand it. But as an Italian I can say that Spanish people usually speak really fast so I'm like "ehmm... Once again, please! 😂🙏"
Ha Na but whenever I speak Portuguese or Spanish my friends don’t understand anything, sometimes It looks like their having a seizure 😂 (I’m french w/ origins btw)
No for who is saying that the Italian guy was fast, that is absolutely not true. He was speaking slowly in Italian and for me it sounded like the Spanish guy was speaking way too fast for us :)) So it's just a point of view.
When people don't understand a language they usually say "those people speak so fast"..I'm a spanish speaker and indeed I wasn't able to understand 90% of what the italian guy was saying...nonetheless the italian guy when repeating the sentences would do it slowly. ..anyways, the italian guy deserved to win.

Aside from that, I have a HUGE respect for people who learn any romance language not knowing any of the languages in this family prior, since they have a pretty hardcore grammar, tenses, genere and number flexions; if spanish wasn't my first language I wouldn't dare to learn any of the languages in this family by my own. Also, I'm not sure about this, but I think once I read that old Mongolian (or some variation of mongolian), is first place in difficulty, something about Tibetan monks spending a lifetime trying to master this languge, but I'm not sure so I'll just leave that there

As an Italian I just wanna say that Akman tried to help Jangmin out with the "cattiva sorte" sentence. Thank you, man! e.e
To be fair Jangmin helped us speaking slower even if it was unintentionally 😂
Dictionary says "miedo" comes from latin "metus". I don't know if Italian have any word coming from that root.

Spanish at its full, native speed is notoriously hard to understand for non-natives, so the Italian guy would definitely have had to request slowed down repeats had the Spaniard not been deliberately slowing down his speech from the get go.
