41:19 holy cow, did not expect a Chris-Chan reference… Anyways, Palmer, you’re a good dude. Often persecuted for “wrong-think,” but just a genuine good dude. Onward and upward!
Once I saw those koss headphones, I kind of wanted a matching colored walkman. CRT tubes and tape mechanisms are in a similar predicament that there is one or few manufacturers and they're all pretty bad compared to what was produced when there was peak demand. Like a lost technology almost. There are probably like 5 new "premium" walkman type devices on the market now and they look the same and are super bulky because they all use the same boxy mechanism that can be found on the cheapest ones.
I never asked this question to myself but what was the better selling ‘Advance’ system at the time? Was the original design Advance a better seller or was the SP the better one? I personally loved the SP because I didn’t have to worry about batteries, it’s form factor or playing in the dark because of its back-lit screen. However the original Advance design was the better ‘feel in your hands’ design for me.
If Palmer's next project is developing the GBA to end all GBA's, I would be the first in line to buy one in every color option. Hands down my favorite system of all time. It is the most logical next step to apply what he's done with the Chromatic to developing the ultimate GBA. I agree with Palmer that ergonomics in particular should be the key focus for the new iteration. Get that down and the rest will fall into place. GBA all the way!
Damn PSP would be amazing!!! Also so quirky with the UMD, I think implementing the UMD drive would be the perfect thing for the ModRetro team to geek out over
But probably he has to wait another 5-10 years for the PSP players to grow older/richer so there are enough fanboys to enjoy a premium, forever version
You should get Meta to add the original Oculus booth as a home environment for Quest 3. OR, put it as a home environment for the brand new best in class VR headset that I really hope you're working on as I type and will release in the near-ish future. Seriously, there's never been another VR headset that nailed pretty much every element as perfectly as the Rift CV1 did relative to its time, and I would love for you specifically to put a new VR headset into the world that achieved that relative level or nigh-on perfect for its time with your own brand new VR headset again. :) Note: I personally think it needs to be basically a standalone headset that can also be used as a proper PC VR headset by direct wired connection [and wireless connection] just like the original Rift CV1. PS. Put the virtual retro game museum thing you were talking about as like a built-in app that comes with every system out the box as standard, and I think that would be sooo amazing. Basically the EmuVR for free as a pack-in. :D
Or, I say you should make a perfect SED/FED CRT that's thin and light and ideal for playing retro games, and then make a ModRetro SNES to go with it. Dream scenario. :D Man, I wish I were a billionaire and could turn some of the stuff I want into reality. Mind you, it's really the technical part I lack anyway, which I do think is really important to even just understand as someone who would direct other's to bring ideas like this to life.
@@TIDbitRETROshipping is crazy on the website, I’m pretty sure it’s a trick to say the chromatic is only “199” while in fact it’s 250$ cuz shipping is crazy expensive. The guy is a genius in marketing so that makes sense
If you, Palmer, could build a SNES handheld that took real cartridges and was in a genuinely nice and compact form factor, I would buy that in a heartbeat. you'd have to make it so it was barely higher than a SNES cart plus connector and barely thicker than a SNES cart plus screen in front, but that would be sensational if achieved. Seriously, make it and I'll definitely buy one if it's at the same high quality as the Chromatic. And, unlike so many other retro modern systems, this doesn't actually exist in any meaningful and certainly not store quality at all. It would be the modern SNES equivalent of the Sega Genesis Nomad. And, yeah, if you make a ModRetro GBA, I think I'd probably get one. I was so close to ordering a Chromatic, but the £200+ price in the UK [which includes the shipping cost] was just a bit too much for me. But for GBA, I might just jump in if it's done right. I can't quite decide it should be based on the original GBA or SP myself though. I mean, I think SP is easily the best looking and most portable and just coolest of the GBA's (I really did love the simple black one), but the original is clearly a nicer form factor to actually hold and use. Either way, it would so cool to get a ModRetro GBA--and then the ModRetro SNES at some point too. :D
This interview is incredible. The stories left untold are making me go crazy

I'm gonna guess that the Next ModRetro product is a CRT TV !
Id buy one
@@TheRemynight00 That would be awesome.
God that’d be insane

I'd love that. A CRT to surpass Sony's Trinitron.
Brilliant interview. The sheer balls in 2024 to say “Booth babes were awesome, actually” 😂
Those days are over. This would have been more brave in 2021 😅
I've always loved them--almost asked one out on a "date" once--and will always defend their existence.

Excellent interview, thanks!
So glad I bought the chromatic after watching this interview and can’t wait to see the game library they release
Can't wait to get my hands on my blue Chromatic!
Me too. I need it sooner rather than later before I change my mind (again) on which colour I want! 😅
@DaveFallows I'm having the same problem 😂
This was awesome! I watched this while playing Pokémon Crystal on my Chromatic!
I'm playing Donald Duck: Goin' Qu@ckers.
Make a gba chromatic!
The chromatic is awesome. I love playing Tetris on it lol. If you loved the gameboy growing up, get yourself one of these

I don’t believe they’ve never heard of Chris Chan.
Blesh there hearts
Never seen this guy in an interview really like him now.
I ordered 3 of these
I’ll order more GBA if that’s next
I love New PSP Aluminum, Top of line Screen, battery could be problem

Great interview with Palmer
I hope they make a GBA SP
and when you do a game gear fpga handhald, you should make it authentic and make it use 8 AAs :D
analogue pocket is the elephant in the interview
N64 handheld confirmed from modretro
Thumbs up to everyone

Euro/worldwide distribution. Please make it happen!
I want that light grey Chromatic, but I don't want to get it from GameStop.
Hate GameStop
GameStop does suck, but you do save a little money ordering their version of the Chomatic because you get free shipping through them.

can't t go wrong with palmer talking about hardware 🔥🔥
[]-)
He should team up with Nintendo and rerelease Pokémon gold and silver for the 25th anniversary.
Did he really say "GameBoy AdvanceD" 🙈
Damn RetroDodo pushing the MagaRetro Chromatic too
