I play a lot of Money Idol Exchanger and have noticed that I was playing like a champ in it due to how responsive the dpad was. I didn't notice how accurate it was prior to playing that game!

If you're looking only to play gb/gbc this is the most premium device on the market. Other devices use filters to hope to look like gameboy and chromatic. The very specific and beautiful screen, the alloy body and feel in hand, buttons feel awesome and the dpad is accurate. They did great and with any luck this will get support and we'll see other products later on.
I'll go over negatives. It plays only gb/gbc. I don't consider this a problem since I intended to buy a military-grade gameboy. Battery life isn't as good as any og gameboys due to backlight and higher intensity of the screen. Expected, honestly. There are light scratches across the IR sensor out of the box. It won't affect anything and isn't terribly visible but it's there. The menu button is a little tough to hit due to being nearly flush with the system. That's everything negative I can come up with. Everything else is fit af. You can shake this and hear nothing at all rattle. Amazing device.

However, the scuffs are almost non existent and something I really don't even care about anyhow 😛 and like you said, this is a premium device and agree with the quality of the case and especially the screen! Well, I think it's both. It looks to me like the best game Game Boy/Game Boy Color system you can get right now, but the price is dang expensive. Getting it in the UK plus shipping is over £200. 😲
Once I get this in, and get a feel for it, if I like it, then I would absolutely 100% want that. But judging on just videos alone, I think I am already excited for something like that.
The Analogue Pocket I _believe_ uses a custom screen as it’s exactly 10x the resolution of the OG GB which makes the filters for it very good. But I believe the build of the Chromatic is a lot better, the pocket has some issues where it’s really easy to knock the cartridge while playing. One thing I wish the Chromatic had was a green screen OG GB filter, which I believe they said would be added in a firmware update?

So what you were saying about the carts knocking loose in the pocket, that's something that I wasn't able to replicate with the Chromatic. I can vigorously shake it and the cart stays out and fits in nice and tightly. You don't hear a single rattle when shaking either. I think you're gonna love it!

@@LitchAzazel honestly it's hard to tell for me since my GBC isn't backlit, but if I look at how the same game looks on my SP and the Chromatic, the color temperature looks about the same. The Chromatic is also crazy bright but thankfully it can be dimmed.

I have long lost my gameboy color and when I saw the Modretro being tested out at my local GameStop (yea an employee had actually broke it open for anyone to try out. Can they do that?) I immediately loved it in ways I didn’t for some reason with the analogue pocket, Miyoo, or others I had seen. I went all in and got the six pack of games from the website and am so looking forward to newer games in the pipeline. Now would I have gotten one if I still had my old gbc? Debatable but now I’m glad to have a proper “evolved” gbc to enjoy now. The future is retro!

It’s a niche that will set this apart from the other sbc-type products. I mean, what old Gameboy fan doesn’t want to break open a brand new gameboy game again and comb through the manuals like the old days.
I can't get Nexzr or the Nexzr caravan disc to work on my duo, its probably not on current firmware but the 1st 3 updates Nexzr didn't work. I do have a few pc engine games that did work after I updated the system.

Sometimes the console randomly crashes with some games but then it will work just fine with the same game. But then there are games like Popful Mail that simply just break after the first world map. That's a real bummer.
I was able to do that with my GameStop preorder. I put $50 dollars down when preordering the unit then paid off the rest in parts 50 at a time until the pick up day.
I am in if the NES Online Controller works with it through Bluetooth. The type C out goes to a monitor so I would definitely buy it. Especially since it has a Seventy dollar game with it.
@JM-pm1yb I paid a hundred for Dragon Quest for my Tandy Vision One recently and another hundred for Lock N' Chase 2 Revenge of Lupin. I am definitely picking up Dragonyhm Chromatic Version. With shipping and taxes it will be around that. Seventy.
I think $120 - $150 would be ideal. But you have to take into account that they created the screen and body. You have cheaper options if you want, or you can just ignore it if you’re not interested. Because it is an expensive retro console, and it won’t appeal to everyone.

There is if you want an aluminum alloy case with sapphire screen! 😁 And since GameStop lets you pay pre orders in parts, so I had a friend pay off a debt 50 bucks each time at the store and I paid the last 50 when I went to pick it up so for me it worked out great 😃

It’s got a dedicated screen made from the ground up exclusively for gameboy, it doesn’t have to share the screen with other device’s screen sizes making none of them look authentic. It’s just good at its thing and nothing more and that’s what some people want.

Looks very pretty! Most of the retro-inspired FPGA devices strike me as a luxury/vanity item rather than something I would actually want though.

@Sarumaru Feel like those sensor scuffs come from the packaging itself. No way to avoid that without putting film over the sensors before packing.

How accurate would you say the colors are to an original Gameboy Color? I have the Funny Playing GBC and the colors are way bright and look a bit off.
