    Very nice project Jack, that decorative touch with the darkwood really makes the piece stand out. The weight of that oak must also make that very stable when used for your utensils.

    another great example of what you can do with simple jigs - looks great, i have to admit i was wondering about using the jig for designs other than straight spines.

    Great Build Jack! Gotta ask... Have you been hit before by a board with out a kerf riving knife on your table saw. Had mine off this summer and bumped my piece into the blade with my push stick and got nailed in the stomach. I don't stand behind it any more! Rofl Keep up the great work!

    I'm not sure those "splines" add much strength to the joint. Other then the glue surface, there's very little mechanical advantage added. If the keys were reversed it would add much more strength.
