  • I first saw this type of board in wood magazine many years ago. Issue 147 March of 2003. While I really did not follow the plan per say I did use elements of it and proper credit where credit is due. I actually do use the template they provide for the layout of the dowels glued into the face of the board to represent the different diameter circles for rolling out different sizes of dough, etc.
    This project is made form maple for the board and cherry for the end caps on the board.
    I truly enjoyed this project and I know my wife will enjoy using it in our home. This project was in coordination with the "2015 Kitchen utensil build challenge”.
    I am posting below a Master list of participants in this challenge. Please check out all of their videos on making a kitchen utensil as well.

    I was wondering what the dowels were for. I read the comments below, so I'm that much smarter now! The board turned out really nice. Hopefully in return you get a load of biscuits and pies!

    Why not go to the lumber yard and buy a sheet of Maple hard wood about 31 " x 31" Then glue some 1x 3's under each end of it As I do not have a Wood shop at home or all of the tools for making one etc

    What a novel gift for a wife that bakes. I know what you mean about getting around to projects promised to your spouse. I told my wife that if I said I would do it she didn't need to remind me every six months...

    • @TheChrisPineWorkshop
      @TheChrisPineWorkshop  9 років тому +1

      Peter Brown That is how I understand it... for different doughs that one woudl roll out. I suppose it does not just include pie crust but yes it is a measuring guide for such purposes. Chris

    What kind of wood can these boards be made of?

    • @TheChrisPineWorkshop
      @TheChrisPineWorkshop  4 роки тому +1

      Many woods are ok to use for cutting boards or a board like this. The tint grained woods are best in my opinion... maple, cherry walnut. etc

    Could you please tell me what is the purpose of the dowels/round dowel pattern in this board? Thanks.

    • @TheChrisPineWorkshop
      @TheChrisPineWorkshop  5 років тому

      Sure! They are in the shape of circle and it is for measuring when rolling out pie dough...
