Welcome back! Let's continue with "Rahdo's Goofs"
If you find Goofs I didn't notice Please leave Timestamps :)
Thank You
12:05 Again, the Die used to Dictate goes back into the Cup...
Will not make a note about this again because it's clear Richard will do this goof every turn... Just remember the Dictate Die goes back to the cup
29:51 No... That Brown die is from the Supply... The one you had is in the Citizenry... Cheater!! :p
31:19 And should have received $1 more because of her Pirates!
40:17 And should have received "2 due to the Terraforming Bots that give $1 when you Settle a World and an extra if it's Brown
My family learned both this game and Race for the Galaxy by watching your videos. Thanks for that; we had some great game nights as a result! We like the fact that you explain a few different alternatives so that we can understand why players might decide to choose one decision over another.
29:50 Richard surreptitiously steals a brown die from the general supply :)
He's like that! Keep an eye on him!! Noted :) Thanks
At 10:12, I yelled "Take the space docks, TAKE THE SPACE DOCKS!" at the screen. True story.
TheGreatHamEl now that's what i call audience engagement! :)
I was yelling the exact opposite thing!! I know how hard it is to come across a planet of the color you want, and these gave you 3 moneys total for finishing them :(
Excellent tutorial. It clarified a few of my questions. Thank you sir.
Good video. Much better understanding of the options now.
17:00, it's kind of a personal preference, but if Jen's second production die is going to get wasted, use that to take the ship action, then, potentially get a free ship and/or production action. That dictator action is a nice benefit but using it does take a die off your board. I think you should only use it for actions that are guaranteed, or completely and wholly worthless anyway, which most of them are not.
Rahdo, you mentioned that your top two games of 2014 were Shadowrun and Roll for the Galaxy.
I liked that you did a runthrough but there was a lot of confusion and alternate decisions and mistakes you were trying to emulate making it harder to follow than I think it would be for real.
Since you both love the Roll for the Galaxy it would be so much better and TOTALLY AWESOME if you and Jen did a real runthrough and we could see how the game really plays out with two actual people. I personally would really like this! I think others would as well!
NightRunner9 well, one of the stretch goals for my kickstarter campaign was Live Playthroughs with Jen, so this might be a good candidate :)
***** WooHoo! Here is me crossing fingers, eyes and toes! Without falling over! 8P
The Dictate die goes back to the cup, see page 3 or 4.
Kurt B yup, that's already been noted in the vid and the show notes :)
***** Ah sorry, I must have missed it. Don't you usually put a note on the video where the mistake occurs? Anyway, thanks for doing these, they are always helpful!
Kurt B ypu, it's mentioned a few times (in the first video and the extended video). you can see where in the show notes :)
I love Rahdo's videos, but this one is a mess. Luckily it's quite rare this happens to Rahdo, but this is an example of just reading the manual is quicker and easier. Thanks for all your efforts though Richard, very much appreciated :D
25:40 I'm not sure, but I think Rhado is making the shipping technology more powerful than it is, the tile says it gives him "+ one MORE shipping as if he had an extra white die", so I think he should have at least one die in shipping fot the tech to work.
He doesn't need to have any die in that phase... it's been covered by the designers at BGG and it's on the rules pag.11:
Q: Do I need workers assigned to a phase to trigger powers that occur in it?
A: No.
Paulo Renato
Thanks! :D
Jen didn't have to assume you were going to activate "Explore"; a 1/3 chance (from the white die) is better than 1/6 of getting "Shipping" any day. But, in other situations, predicting your opponent probably is more important, so that was good to see.
Interested in this game, but one thing bothers me: Why have dice when you can change them into something else when you don't like what you rolled?
To make the game more about strategy and less about luck. Without the manipulation you are just rolling dice and hoping.
But really you can only change one dice for free. The dictator move is far less efficient but gets you what you need.
33:30 Instead of dictating, Jen could use the Space Mercenaries to reassign her red die to Produce for free, use her diamond die to activate Settle, and still have three dice on Explore.
EDIT: ah, you remembered at 37:20, I guess you can disregard my comment :)
I enjoyed the video. Do you change dices based on tecnology to others behind the shield afer rolling?
nope, there aren't any techs in game that i know of that let you purposely change dice
at 33:30, you shouldn't have her use her red die as her "action" die, since she can additionally reassign it with her tile. She should use the white develop die as the action die, allowing her to still move the red die elsewhere.
+rima abisamra oh I see you mentioned that about four minutes later, just had no note.
After having seen several runthroughs, I can see that Jen is definitely a better player than rahdo.
can't argue with that!
rahdo, sorry i'm a bit confused. I thought you could only get 3/4/5/6 credits if the dice corresponds to a blue/red/green or yellow color....so is it not based on dice color but on the planet type itself?
if you're getting points, you get 1,2 or 3 points based on matching the planet color to the two dice invovled. if you're getting money, it's alll about the planet color
:)
ughhh i can't believe i had missed that. Had been playing the trading wrong all this time! it makes much more sense. Thanks for the help!
Typo in the subtitles at about 40:18. It says "2 instead of $2
FIXED! :)
It might have been easier to play through rather than keep speculating over that move. I was lost... :)
Shipping was rolled by the dummy last turn (from the first video), why didn't Jen ship last turn?
EDIT: added as a comment on the first video
She didn't ship because even though the phase was activated she did not have a die/worker underneath the Ship action
Question: you use a generic white dice as the dummy player? Love your playthroughs.
yes, that's the official rule for 2p games :)
@ 29:50 you accidently add a second brown dice when explaining your shipping options. Rather than putting the one original back you grabbed another
+Stranglebat it was already noted... thanks
31:15 Jen forgets to use her piracy power and misses the opportunity to get an extra dollar.
noted :) Thanks
Love you rahdo but I think you drink too much coffee that day
40:28... Did not use his terraforming robots to get a couple of bucks
Noted... Thanks :)
At 36:46 Dictator die goes back in cup, not into citizenry Also at 40:51, same thing.
yup, that was noted in the klingon subtitle goof report :)
Strange, I saw the other corrections, but for some reason those do not show up for me with the subtitles on. They should appear at the time of the mistake right?
iirc paulo noted it the first time i goofed it and then didn't for the repeats :)
if you click the ... below the video, one of the options is 'transcripts' and you can see a full list of every goof in the subtitle track :)
Ah okay, makes sense. Thanks haha. Really enjoying this game :)
Dictate dice go back into the cup, not the citizenry
yup, watch with klingon subtitles turned on and you'll see the goof was noted (along with other ones!) :)
I love your videos, Rahdo, but I found this one incredibly difficult to follow.
Joe Martin sorry 'bout that
I thought it was great! But I was familiar with Race for the Galaxy. My family and I watched this video instead of reading the instructions and our first game was pretty smooth.
19:58: I think that this is not a production planet for rare elements. Rahdo should not produce a good.
You can produce in any non grey planet unless it specifically says you can't and I don't think any does
I normally enjoy your video's but this is just unbearable :), you should really consider not devising 5 different scenario's for each possibility because it makes watching the vids extremely tiresome. Of course you do this to aid the viewer and you only want to be helpful, but in this case it was detrimental.
It was useful for understanding how to play.
It is called EXTENDED gameplay
Yeah, that was a lot of changing his mind over every single move over and over again. He could just use whatever choice and move on to have an understandable game flow. :\ It does not have to be optimal, it's just about learning. When I teach a game, i don't care to make the best move, I just care to make sure people understand what's going on one step at a time.
jesus christ get on with it.....
Spira Crepsley please, just call me rahdo :)
