Thank you very much. You are a born teacher. I am so grateful to be able watch your process. I admire your work and look forward to practicing on my own. I had only worked on Aida and just ordered some evenweave. I feel I have a better chance for success after watching your video. Thanks for taking the time to help us newbies, even if some of us are past 70 yrs old. 😳
Thanks for this. I appreciate it. I enjoy working on Lugana, and Jobelan also.
I have cross stitched for years using left to right. I am definitely going to try this method as you explained and demonstrated this technique so clearly! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Thanks so much for the tutorial. Your work is beautiful. You gracefully stitch. Lovely to watch. Keep them coming!!!
Thank you so much Nicole ❤️
I'm one of those people who thinks they can learn any needlework just looking at books! I taught myself how to knit using #2 yellow pencils!
The first thing I made was a cable knit sweater for my dog! At least you could tell it was a sweater. Lol
I have struggled with my cross stitch in speed and quality of work. This tutorial is extremely helpful and will make a huge difference in my work. Thank you, thank you!
9/2/2023 - Nicole, Your video on stitching over one is extremely helpful and clear enough to see how you work those stitches. Thank you so much! Would you clarify how I can approach stitching on high count linens such as 46 count which I currently have. I don't know if I should work with full crosses or half cross stitches and should I work that high count over one or over 2 I do use single floss when I stitch high count but have never stitched higher than a 40 count linen. I have AVS Soie 1003 & Soie Surfine + Bohin #28 & JJ #10 Bead Embroidery needles.
Your input would be greatly appreciated.🌸🏵 I am a self taught cross stitcher & surface embroiderer with no needlework shop to go to classes or supplies.
Thanks for showing how to use the tail grabber tool!! I have not been able to grasp the sewing method but it was informative!!! 😀
You are a lovely stitcher! Thank you for your tutorial. I have learned a few more tricks to anchor my back threads!
you all prolly dont care but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost the password. I would love any help you can give me!
I really enjoyed this video. TFS. Hope to see more of you stitching. 🌸
Thanks for sharing your beautiful stitching and tips and tricks.
Thanks Nicole , love watching you stitch and also a great explanation of what your stitching
OMG Nicole thank you so much!!!Been doing the Ruth Sparrow method for maybe 3 weeks. Had to make a little drawing of it (hehe) to remember. But you answered a question I have been asking Karen on. When I am doing the borders up and down ( how too). Thanks for showing me. Going to watch this one over and over. Your such a help!!!!!
It is wonderful to follow your work with the needle. I have leaned very much . I stitch mostly the danish way, as I learned by my mum and her mother, but it is a very interesting way you stitch. I goes very fast. I think I might practis this way. I hope that you are going to show more in another video :-) Greetings from Denmark
You make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome tutorial Nicole...thanks❤️
Thank you! It was really helpful since I’ve been stitching on linen always over two.
Thank you for the demo! I really enjoy watching you stitch - it’s very calming. Loved your last stitch with me video too. Please do more (if they’re not too much trouble to do). 😊
Thank you Nicole I'm not new to cross stitch but it been quite a few years. Watching you has given me the confidence to go for it. I love watching you stitch it's mesmerising like mediation. Have you thought of doing stitch with me videos, I think that would be fun. Love Mandy xx
Thank you! I did one last week - ua-cam.com/video/OabfiMsJJ-w/v-deo.html :)
Thank you so much. I have over ones to sew and your video will be very helpful! I might have to watch it a couple of times while trying to learn the technique.
Thanks Nicole, your tutorial was very informative.
Thank for showing your method of stitching...your stitches are beautiful...I am going to try the number 4 glasses with 32 count...I do like 25 ct Lugana....
This was great! Thank you! forgot what 25 mushroom 1x1 - looked like! So excited now since i have a lot left over from past stash! :)
It was nice to see a closeup of the 25 count mushroom lugana. I've recently gotten back into cross stitching and I love the look of linen, but try as I might, my eyes can't handle the small weave. I purchased 32 count linen and I won't be able to use it because it's just too small for me. I don't have a local needlework shop so I have to purchase fabric online and the photos are hard to tell exactly what it will be like to stitch on (both the size of the weave as well as the color). So, thank you for your informative videos! Your stitching is lovely!
I have to say watching you has made me want to try in hand, Thanks for the video! xxx
That was really helpful and enjoyable to watch. Thanks for charging xx
That was fun!
Thanks! You make it look so easy.
Thank you! Very informative - I learned a lot today 👍😊
wow, that goes so fast....definitely learning that technique tonight!
Thanks for the refresher Nicole!
Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful week.
Thank you. Have to watch several times to get it but will eventually.
Thanks for the video, I actually learned a little bit so that makes me happy!!!
Tammy
Great tutorial Nicole happy stitching xx
Yes it helped ~ thank you! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Very helpful, thank you so much!
Ooh. I’ve never seen that tool to catch the thread. Thank you. I’ve needed that.
I had one that I lost track of my beautiful handmade thread catcher and I didn’t know what it was called, so thanks for including the link. Yay!
Always love your videos!! Thanks for showing us your gadgets too :D I think that Doololly is also referred to as Fiber Hiders? Need to get one of those :)
Yes, that is correct! They are so useful!
Thanks for sharing. Your threads lay flat with two. Mine always seem so bulky and puffy. I like them to lie flat. Just a note for those asking: on the video folks can click on the gear or flower looking symbol at the bottom right of the screen, click on playback speed and click on a lower speed to help with details.
Yes, I meant to mention that! Thank you!
Thank you, really enjoyed the 1 over 1.
Thank you ! YOUR VERY KIND! TAKE CARE!
Ty so much
Now can you show me left handed...just kidding 😂. Your work is great, you are so proficient. Thanks for the demo.
Love your method of stitching. Question: What do you do when you use overdyed floss? Thanks!
I do the same thing. I don’t stitch one stitch at time. It just get it a little less variegated look, but I’m ok with that.
Thank you, enjoy all your video"s Happy Stitching Jennifer M.
Thank you for this Nicole!
When I start with 2 threads I leave the loop on the back and stitch my thread through it. Very clean.
Yes, I usually do that when I'm stitching with two threads also! This thread wasn't quite long enough to do the loop method though.
@@nicolesneedlework2118 I am not surprised you do this. What I didn't know about was how to fix those pesky threads that don't get anchored down and how to fix them. Thank you! Enjoying all...🧵
Thank you so much for the demo. Did I understand this right. Horizontally you stitch the X in one direction and vertically you stitch it the opposite? If so I am thrilled. I thought the X's always had to cross in the same direction on a piece and never knew which was the correct way to start. I wish I could stitch half as fast as you do. I could watch you stitch all day. It is comforting... LOL
I made a diagram to explain it a little better... drive.google.com/file/d/1V7tuohzP2MWsgUwm6DIeGzJ7HvZXP2Im/view?usp=sharing
Thank you for the demo. I’ve looked at the diagrams on Ruth Sparrow’s method but seeing a video made a big difference. Thanks again for all your inspiration.
Thanks! Very helpful.
Marilyn
No need to railroad two strands when going left to right and back right to left? Your stitched look like they are laying flat and perfect! Thank you Nicole❣️
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the tutorial, really enjoyed it! Take care...Wish us southeastern stitch....Please let us all know if there are any regional retreats that you know of that may be happening in the Fall....Didn't know of one in Myrtle Beach, shoot that is close to me! Need to get to Fire Poppies someday soon. Again, thank you...
I think there is a Facebook group for a Myrtle Beach retreat that is trying to happen in 2021.
Is there a clock or watch close to you?
Again, fast, fast, fast. It’s so nice to see you going fast. Love it. Nicole, when we stitch in hand the linen got so wrinkled. At the end you probably iron them. Am I right 🥴❓ Could you show us a little bit about iron the ended project❓I’d really appreciate it. 😍
Thank you. Xoxo. Miriam
Yes, I iron my pieces when I'm finished stitching and then once my framer stretches the piece, there are no wrinkles!
I’ve heard the reference before of starting the stitch on a vertical thread but I don’t understand what that means. Why? I’ve only stitched on 14 count Aida but want to move up. (Just getting back into stitching.). My Quilting is sitting on the sidelines 😢. Really enjoy all of your videos -and Ginger and Oreo 😻😻. Thank you.
Thank you! Linen is a woven fabric, so there is a warp and a weft. The vertical thread is the warp. I prefer to start at the vertical thread - it helps me to keep track of where I should I be stitching. If I come up at a horizontal thread, then I know I’m in the wrong hole (when stitching over two). It’s hard to explain! I’m sure there are videos or websites that can explain it better than me! :) Good luck!
Nicole's Needlework
Thank you Nicole
Thanks
Thank you for the demo! That looped needle threader that you used to hide your tail on the back is darling, do you remember where you got it? I would love to purchase one. 😊
Thank you! Yes, I posted a link in the description box.
Nicole's Needlework Oh my goodness, I didn’t even see it the first time but now I do! Thank you so much!💗
Hi Nicole - did you tell us which scissors are the best? Mine all blunt very quickly - thank you! 🏴😊
I love Dovo scissors (unfortunately, they have just gone out of business though). You can still find them, but they’re more expensive now.
Hi. Thank you so much for the video. Ive been so inspired to stitch since watching your videos for the last few months . I bought some fine embroidery needles, called ' Straw" needles. The eye is so small .I spend forever just trying to thread the needles. I have obviously chosen the wrong type of needle, but they do say they are for embroidery. Why is the eye so small , and how on earth do I thread them , without needing 100 goes at it ?
Oh wow, I have no idea! I have never even heard of them. Yes, definitely try a different needle! Good luck!
Since you only do a half stitch going right to left, then back left to right to complete the stitch, do you use this method with over dyed threads? Don't you loose the variegation?
No, I do the same with variegated threads. I may lose it a little bit, but not enough to change what I’m doing.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video. I have the black Dovo’s but seldom use them as the tip isn’t sharp. Will pull them out now that I see how you cut with them. Dilema_. If Nicole has it, I need it, so where to get the attachment to hold your threader on your scissors? I can never find my threader. I really appreciate all of your videos. Of course, I am so often enabled!
I found that in the jewelry section of Michaels a long time ago. I have no idea what it is even called! LOL!
I wanted the same as Nicole and while I didn’t find mine at Michaels I can tell you I found them at my Hobby Lobby they are mini Lanyards found in the jewelry isle. I would insert a picture if I knew how lol! Item#748640 pack of 10 they have a price of $2.99 but I think mine wee only like $1.75 must have hit a sale or something!
Great video. Didn’t quite get how you did vertical and horizontal letters on single threads. Will watch again.
Yeah, it was a little hard to show in the video. I think I need to add a diagram.
Nicole's Needlework that would be wonderful thank you so much
I made a diagram today, hopefully it will help show what I was trying to say! drive.google.com/file/d/1V7tuohzP2MWsgUwm6DIeGzJ7HvZXP2Im/view?usp=sharing
Nicole's Needlework thank you so much.
Thanks for an informative video. Do you wear glasses normally? Did you choose a 4.0 in place of a magnifying glass?
Also for an evenweave, there is no warp and weft correct?
I am fairly new to cross stitch and would like to try a 1 over 1 on 25 or 28 count evenweave.
Yes, I wear glasses normally and yes, I wear the magnifying glasses instead of using a magnifier. There is still a warp and weft in evenweave. The warp is the vertical threads and the weft is the horizontal threads in the fabric.
@@nicolesneedlework2118 Thank you! I may try magnifying glasses. I currently use a magnifier but sometimes I can't get it set just right, if you know what I mean.
I have never stitched ‘in hand ‘ before, does it not affect the tension? Also what do you recommend for storing floss?
I have only stitched in hand (it’s how I taught myself) and I don’t have any problems with my tension. I use many different things for storing floss. If you go to my FAQ video, (ua-cam.com/video/czITc1uUmdE/v-deo.html) I mention the different ways I store my floss.
Question: Do you wax your fibers? I have noted lately working with Weeks at this time that it is unraveling more than I want. Even on a shorter 14 in strand. I do wax my silks but I do not note the unraveling as much. The Weeks fibers have been actually separating on me. I have not been working much with the other cotton variegated threads right now. I was just wondering your experience. Thank you.
I do use Thread Heaven on some of my silk threads also. I have been stitching a lot with WDW lately and I do notice they fray a little more at the ends, but not really unraveling that I've noticed. You could try wax or thread heaven (or something like it) on your WDW if your having trouble with them, maybe try a new needle also. Good Luck!
The silver hook and needle threaded on the front page of this video, is it something that is still available for purchase? If so where might I find one.
Yes, it’s called a “Fiber Hider Tool.” I got mine at Stitches ‘N Things in Fenton, MI - www.stitchesnthings.com/detail.cfm?ID=57505
Thanks for the great tips. The piece you use to hold your needle threader on, where do you find those?
It is a Cell Phone Strap Lariat Lanyard (had to Google it). They can be found on Amazon, Etsy or in the jewelry section of craft stores. Here's one I found on Amazon - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011GF0MA/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thank you!
YES!!! Thank you so much Nicole for showing us. I have a project that I think I want to try over one on so this is perfect timing!! Have you seen the sexy glasses called Mighty Sight? ROFL My husband gave them to me as a gift. They are magnifiers with LED lights. 😃
LOL! I haven't seen those, but I'm going to have to look for them!
Loved your video!!! I have a pattern that I would like to stitch on 16 ct Aida can I use one thread or would it be to thin looking?
You might be able to. I would do a little test and see how you like it. It's really personal preference!
I would do 2 strands on 16 count aida
For beginners on linen, what kind and size would you recommend?
You might want to try a 28 or 32 count linen. I think any Zweigart base linen would work (I personally love their linens). Good luck!
Nicole, could you also share the source for your project bags? Thanks!
I have gotten some at my LNS and some at the Container Store (www.containerstore.com/s/office/paper-file-storage/aqua-vinyl-and-mesh-pouches/12d?productId=11001110). I think you can also find them on Amazon.
WOW i saw your title and i said YES!, but no too small i could not see what you are doing and for a newbie. please can you do it again for NEWBIES but with larger fabric count? like a 14 count so we can see what you are doing, PLEASE.. its a great video but i cant see it... HELP Newbie in Haines City, Fl.
Wonderful tutorial, thank you! May i ask what they are called, and where you purchase the floss 'holder' you have the skein of floss stored on? Ive not been able to find them online, probably because I don't know what they are called lol.
I was stitching on 25 count over two (which makes it 12.5). It may have been the over one that was harder to see. Sorry about that!
The floss tags are called Thread Drops by Access Commodities.
@@nicolesneedlework2118 thank you!

Half of your work is out of the cameras View. Otherwise a good tutorial.
Sorry about that!! I'm still new at this! I really need to get a tripod made for filming!
You are a natural in front of the camera and it’s nice to see all you’ve done.
