After refitting cams with timing pins in place, you call the far pot with cam lobes uppermost No 1, it’s actually No 4 on its compression stroke. Nonetheless a great video and very helpful thank you.

My cambelt has snapped on my ford focus 2012 1.6 diesel, is it salvageable. Would it be cheaper to get a new engine or to purchase the valve lifters, crank shaft, cam shaft etc. Thanks love your video
Hi again I have reassembled the camshafts but when I put the aluminum plate back on, i cannot seem to find anything locking the camshafts form moving sideways? Therefore are they supposed to just float or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks for all your good answers
How did you get the stubborn injector holding down bolt out? I've only been able to get one out, all the others won't come out and one has stripped the star drive head. All was going so well until this point. Cheers
2 choices here now if the torx heads have snapped, .. wind 2 nuts down the thread and lock them together l, then use the bottom nut to loosen, if not vice grips and replace them.
While this is the case for most belts that strip teeth after they have had work done, this particular belt just was well over its replacement time and failed. Poor maintenance unfortunately.. but a lot of people don’t want to spend money on things they cannot see in this day and age so it just waits for it to fail catastrophically and then your faced with an even bigger bill!
@@Chris_CDB I'm a great believer in the old advise of cam belt replacement, 60k or 5 years whichever comes first. All timed correctly then. Some garages don't do it.
cambelt stripped teeth so its like a broken cambelt.valves hit pistons but instead of bending valves like most do it broke the rocker arms.which means he didnt have to take the cylinder head off
Hi. Mine broke and the motor is not lined up. When i assemble this and enter the pin in the flywheel, which piston should be at TDC when i set the locking pin in for the camshaft? Is it the piston nearest to the timing belt? Also as far as i can see you can put the diesel pump in to ways, rotated by 180 degrees. Does that matter?
Hi, are you able to assist with crank timing on 2012 Peugeot 3008 2.0L Hdi (Ford Mondeo 2.0L TDci) RHE Engine, without pinning the flywheel? Original Dual Mass flywheel removed so no pinning holes to time or pin the crank with.
Are you certain there is no timing holes on the single mass, as it should still have a pin hole regardless?.. the only other way you can do it is rotate the engine to top dead center, pin the top cam wheel, then remove the starter motor and put a flywheel locking tool where the starter motor goes, which locks into the teeth, then mark the crank pulley with paint pen to double check it doesn’t move.
It’s not going to make any difference to the engine running because of the material of the camshaft, the profile will be ground the same so the engine will run as it should. And to be honest you can bleed them, however most just chuck them back in and run the motor, they soon re adjust.
@@Chris_CDB @Chris_CDB I just missformulated. My dilema is, if ford and peugeot uses same engine DW10BTED4. Why peugeot uses cast iron cams and ford steel cams. And why they are not interchangeble by part code. A cam from peugeot (cast iron) doesnt have ford on compatibility list, but i think they shoul work on ford.
Hi, i have the newer version of this engine, same problem because 9 out of 10 i have been ripped of 7 years ago. Car has 315 000km and belt had been "changed" at 180 000km. How sure are you that the camshaft lobes have turned? Because i want to do this myself and camshafts are a pretty expensive.
@@Chris_CDB EGR pipe to intake and intake was severely contaminated with soot @ 315k km. Couldn't believe the engine didn't throw a faultcode. Now it pulls so much better, effortless. Only problem I had was starting the car after all the work. So much air in high pressure side. I needed a helping hand to open the injector lines one by one. And then trying to get it running. So glad!
You take a syringe and put diesel in the filter housing. Fill it up as much as possible. Because they don't fill it up when you put the ignition on like Mercs do f. example
Very easy, if you have a good pump.First get the fuel to the pump through air valve at the top of the fuel line use simple rubber bleeding manual pump. Then connect the same pump to the return line by the alternator. Need some patience. You do not have to be perfect with bleeding, can leave a big air bubble near the pump. Later weaken off all 4 injectors nuts and start the engine.
The parts alone are several hundred pounds, it’s not a quick or cheap job you are correct. However in this instance the buying of the car and the repair to the engine has been under what they go for market value, so it was worthwhile doing.
Because the valve opens direct vertical to the piston, they do not open at an angle, so they do not bend the valves. They come into contact and the weakest link breaks.. (being the rocker arms)
@@Chris_CDB thanks for the reply, that makes sense but kind of seems like a risk to gamble on. i got a exact same engine that belt slipped on and probably this happened.
@@hovet875 it’s very very unlikely to have bent any, just usually the damage that is listed here!, if you are local then I am happy to take a look/assess the damage!
