- Osaka, Japan has four ferris wheels you can ride without having to pay admission to an amusement park. I spent one full day going to each one for a ride. Each ferris wheel was unique - this was a pretty crazy day. And what a finale on Japan's highest ferris wheel - actual hot food and drink service 404 feet up in the air!
Ferris wheels in this video:
• HEP 5 - Ferris wheel built on top of a 7-story building
• EBISU TOWER - The world's first oblong ferris wheel
• TEMPOZAN - Former world's highest ferris wheel; with sunset view
• REDHORSE - Japan's current highest ferris wheel; with "kotatsu" heater and hot oden + sake service

The way Jeremy acted after he tried the can of food and bottle of spirits made my day. Once you learn to enjoy the small pleasures in life you are on your way..
Sake isn’t spirits, it’s actually rice wine preferably served hot/warm and is quite delicious!
We always try to ride a ferris wheel wherever we live. I love all the ferris wheels but I gotta say one where I can eat and drink is my fave. 😊 Thanks!
Nice! Puts London Eye to shame ... 🤣
Hope you’re safe, Jeremy! Though about as you were on that gosh hope an earthquake does not hit! Sure enough next day after posted. Different area I think than where you are, but still! Thanks for taking us along as always.
Thanks, yeah Osaka is safe. I did feel the quake here though
Amazing to have 4 Ferris wheels in such close proximity! Japan is really cool!
It is indeed :)
Hello from Cornwall, Ontario in Canada. I did a T1D meet up in Osaka back in December 2019 when getting off one of those "tourist floating cities" 🤣. If there had been more time , would have been joining you on the Ferris wheel jaunt. That last ferris 🎡 wheel with meal ...I was absolutely drooling! Hope your blood sugars stayed in range. Most likely yes, with all the trotting around that you were doing. Happy New Year 🎉 .. yoi otoshi wo omukaekudasai ! 良いお年をお迎えください
Didn't know there were T1D meetups here! Sounds fun. Next time you're here I do suggest the oden and sake ferris wheel - what a memory. BGs were actually quite good this day, mostly because I got a lot of exercise walking from the stations to the ferris wheels all day
@@T1DWanderer yes - exercise is the best for keeping us within TIR! It's like we're CURED ;)
Great video. Was near that biggest one back in April when going to SpaWorld, that amazing 6 story water experience. Very distinctive part of Osaka, and very suprising for an American like me, but not my Kansai born and bred wife.. She grew up in those hills of northern Nishinomiya, outside of Osaka. Jeremy, you are making me long for my next visit...
I was just talking about Spa World with a friend of mine a few days ago. We used to go all the time but haven't been there since before the pandemic. I love that place
Great Ferris Wheel vlog! This would be a fun day to recreate. Really enjoyed this one. If you ever get back to Orlando let me know. We can ride the one on International Drive
Sounds good! Thanks :D
Perfect timing Jeremy. Happy New Year! Always enjoy wandering with you.
Thanks! Happy New Year to you too
Hey, Jeremy! Another delightful day with you, reaching dizzying heights in your travels. Winter is here -- are you going to be doing any snow country travel? --charlie, sacramento CA
I hope so, I've been seeing footage of heavy snow in Hokkaido up north and getting the itch to go see it for myself
Happy New Year🎍
Now I'm heading for Ise Jingu shrine⛩️ ride on the midnight express, Hinotori🔥
Looking forward to watching your videos !🎉
Cool, how was the Hinotori? Happy New Year!
Wonderful! Thanks for bringing us along!
That is an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing. P.S. You are braver than me. Would not attempt this no matter how much sake!
Hm, so for some people they should try to serve the sake *before* the ride 🤔
Jeremy, hope you’re doing okay post-earthquake.
Thanks, yeah I felt it in Osaka but we're not in the affected area
Nice. Lucky you live in Japan. Much different than living in the US. Lucky you did not have to ride ferris wheel with your legs dangling out. Like a ski 🎿 lift.
Does Osaka get snow in winter?
Happy New year. Am glad that I found your channel, becoming one of my favorites. See you next video. Stay safe.😊😊😊
Great to hear, thanks! Osaka may see a few flurries once or twice, but usually nothing more than that. Every few years it'll get some accumulation. But you don't have to go very far north to see some decent snow - which I hope to do this winter
@@T1DWanderer looks like a very interesting city. Take care.
Jeremy, you joked yesterday in your video that it would be awful if, while you were riding the Ferris wheel, an earthquake would occur.
Well, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake has just struck western Japan. How very sad for all those people. Please would you put a video together letting us know what is happening? I hope that everyone will be okay.
I was watching the breaking news on Japanese TV yesterday and thought of that ferris wheel comment too. Unfortunately prescient :/
How'd you manage to wear a shirt that was almost the exact pattern of the blanket?
Heh I noticed that. Either a minor coincidence, or some major new space-age blanket technology that Japan is secretly testing out...!
Jeremy. Did you feel the powerful earthquake there in Japan?
Yes I felt it, and the house I was in had curtains and stuff swaying a bit. Fortunately here in Osaka it was minor, but the TV footage all day was pretty frightening
@@T1DWanderer lucky. I signed up for your newsletter. Thank u. 😊
Are you a dual Japanese/American citizen?
I wish you and all your viewers a happy 2024.
No, only an American passport
Why did you move to Japan? Do you have a Japanese lady too? Did we see her on the Auto train? Too bad about the Waffle House and the Waffle House!
I came to Japan to teach English, and stayed because I like it. You did see a Japanese lady on the Auto Train ;)
@@T1DWanderer Yes, I did see a Japanese lady! She was waving hello! So cool! So nice that you speak great Japanese!
