Looking for the haunted waterfall of Osaka | Genji Waterfall

- I went looking for the small but impressive Genji Waterfall one sunny January morning. Genji Waterfall is in the forested mountains of Katano, a small city in Ōsaka Prefecture, Japan. The waterfall, nearly 18 meters high and tucked away in a small corner down a small path, is said to be haunted. If you visit at night, you may hear ghostly crying and weeping coming from the rocks around the waterfall. The story of how the ghosts began is a tragic and violent one. What a spooky place!

Whatta great story. Hollywood, eat your heart out. Would you say, after all the traveling you've done, that Japan's folklore is richer than most places'? You mentioned "Tale of Genji," and did you sense a connection? I'm from Chicago, which certainly has its folklore. I grew up going to the movies where John Dillinger was gunned down. Chicago folklore is recited with a sneer.
I wouldn't say the folklore is richer necessarily, but there is a lot of it about. I usually don't know anything about it until I do specific research though, so I bet I miss a lot of the stories

@@T1DWanderer yes. this end of the year I took my family to my hometown and my son 7 years old took the Rinko for the first time! He is a fun of your UA-cam even if he doesn’t speak English! It would be very surprised if he can watch Kishu Tetsudo at your UA-cam!

Hi Jeremy, is it possible to visit Japan as a tourist, non Japanese speaking and relying upon a smartphone translator app for communication with locals?
Yes you could do that. If you speak simple English slowly though, most people (like train and store staff) would probably understand you. Apps can help though
