- British Heavy Metal legends Saxon have released the second single, “𝕽𝖊𝖒𝖊𝖒𝖇𝖊𝖗 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕱𝖆𝖑𝖑𝖊𝖓”, from their upcoming album, 𝕮𝖆𝖗𝖕𝖊 𝕯𝖎𝖊𝖒 - set for release February 4th via Silver Lining Music. Pre-order here: smarturl.it/carpe-diem
"I wanted to write a song about Covid, about the people that have died, and give my perception of how it seemed to happen” offers Biff Byford. “Certain aspects of it all are quite mysterious, and of course, it hasn’t finished yet, has it? We should all remember those who have died as a group of people not really knowing why they died, because the information wasn’t there.”

The release of “Remember the Fallen” is also accompanied by a reportage-style video montaged with footage of the band’s individual recording sessions. Listen To/Watch the recently released “Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)” here: • Saxon - Carpe Diem (Se...
Produced by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept) at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire with Byford and Sneap mixing and mastering, Carpe Diem strikes the ear as one of the most essential British metal statements of the last few years and not lacking in pace or bite, an album which will ignite the joy in stalwart supporters and attract a whole new legion to the Saxon fold.
Sneap, himself a guitarist and producer of some metal repute, ensures that Carpe Diem does not lack one ounce of grit or sharpness. “Andy’s obviously a very good guitarist,” says Biff, “but he’s not a blues-based guitarist like our guys are, he’s more of a modern style player. And that means the boys (Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt) love working with him because, again, it’s all about the intensity. Andy’s always pushing the envelope, he doesn’t let them get away with anything. They have to play it for real, full speed. He gets great sound, and we want that Gibson/ Marshall ‘80s sound even if they’re not Gibsons and Marshalls. We try and retain that British metal guitar sound that we created for Saxon, and he’s definitely an ‘80s child.”
Despite a career which has spanned 44 years with over 15 million albums sold, including four top 10 UK albums, and having played to hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide, Saxon are revving up for one of their busiest eras yet. “We’re gonna be quite busy this year,” says Biff. “We’re doing a UK tour later this month, there are festivals which have been rescheduled from two years ago, we’re looking to go to America, we’re also going to tour Europe and like everyone really, we’re just keeping our fingers crossed that everything works out and we can do it all. We’re also recording the second Inspirations album, and as we do that, you never know, we might write a few songs for the next Saxon album…”
As you can see, Saxon remain committed to seizing every minute of every hour of every day. Carpe Diem indeed!

Very sad.....but this Song shows Covid....what Metal is. Hope!!!!!!
🤗
Super !!!!!
Sorry dude. That sux. RIP your dad
amen 🙏
Outstanding. One of the few bands that never took their finger off the pulse. And only get better because of it. God bless Saxon.
Amen.
Amen, Keep it going Saxon. True warriors of the road.
What person in their right mind would not rather see Saxon when they were younger and when Oliver and Dawson were in the band? No Rock act improves with age. None.
@@barrysmith839 should band retirement in their youth to preserve the songs? Don't musicians deserve to live? What has Oliver done of late? This pisses over alot of new release. A man who always looks back has no future.
What god?
I am 64. Saxon make part of my Rock life. Explendit band. Tnk U! Saxon!
Saxon is the biggest band of all time! If Saxon has 1 million fans, I'm one of them. If Saxon has 5 fans, I'm one of them. If the world is against Saxon, I am against the whole world. Saxon forever!!
I'm also 1 of the 5
Yes another new Saxon single!!! This one has some very powerful lyrics, and that chorus is extremely catchy. Also damn does Biff still sound amazing.
@Rich Krikorian No, he's waiting for his chippies (the intravenous kind).
Couldn't have said it any better
Just...RESPECT!!!
Biff at his 71 (!) years, still rocks!!!
Classic Pure British Metal !!
Biff's voice as always Amazing and the Guitars riff are killer!!
Nigel and Nibbs a perfection
SAXON FOR EVER!!🤘🤘
Still All Guns Blazing.

Hail metal brother
Saxon & IRON MAIDEN !!
I'm 49, and STILL love to mosh. Age is just a number.
This is Saxon 2022.
Hard driving music with respect for those who fought and lost everything.
Pure Saxon, a fitting gesture to this awful mess we're in , well done lads Biff's voice gets better with age.
Yeah and blame the politicians as usual....the fucking CHINA VIRUS....and they're all in bed with CHINA
The world needs more metal.
Saxon are a great band and this is yet another great metal track.
Like fine wine, the older the better, SAXON is forever
Started listening to Saxon in 1978 in Ireland still listening today
Right now with covid. Thank You SAXON.
Andy has the golden touch, seems he did here what he did for Accept and Judas Priest. and that's when Saxon's an excellent band to start with. its the perfect combination
Wow, didn't realize he produced any of Accept's albums. Wasn't their latest, To Mean To Die, was it? I loved Overnight Sensation, but when it came time to see them in Toronto, Mark Tornillo had throat problems and he couldn't sing that night. They played, but the other members filled in the vocals so Mark could take the night off and rest.
Been a Saxon fan since I first heard 'Wheels of Steel'. And they just keep getting better and better. Killer song guys!
Same here.. Greetings from South Africa.. Pity I will never see them touring here.. Africanisation has taken over our airwaves since the ANC government took over.. Now its bongo drums and squeezing.. So sad....
@@vernonslabbert9951 With the more radical elements of The ANC "coalition" being blatantly and violently racist. Dangerous times.
My daughter lives in Limpopo. I feel for The Beloved Country.
One of the most underrated British metal bands
A Great and energetic song! This album will be a killer one (as usual for Saxon)!!!!!
My brother and I met Doug at bogarts in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. He spent a couple hours talking with us. What a genuinely nice guy. His stories were amazing as to the life he's led and how he got into Saxon. These guys never disappoint and are true metal heroes!
The best band of the world I love you Saxon 🇬🇧🎸🎵
This Saxon still shows his mighty and strong arm!!!!!
Like a lighthouse in dark times. Saxon, you guys are outstanding, always and ever !
You could've played this video with this song and a still of the Wheels Of Steel album cover and I would've thought it was a song I forgot about. Timeless Saxon, absolutely timeless!
Without a doubt ⚔️
Incredible how consistent their quality is.
Best band in the world
Probably the universe
Kick ass!!! Saxon never disappoints!!!!!
This song and video are so fuggin awesome that it gave me COVID!
THAT'S FUGGIN METAL!
🤘The mighty Saxon🤘Good, since the beginning of NWOBHM.
Can't wait to hear the new album.
I've been moved listening to this song...Biff's voice is still great.
Hail to the Saxon 🖤
Oh yeah !! Saxon still my favorite NWOBHM band. Simply love these guys.
Me too! More Love Priest and others, but these guys are consistently great with every release and have SOOOO many of them!
Fantastic Song. Pure Saxon at it's best. Reminds me at Power and the Glory.Saxon Rules. Living Legends 🤘🤘💪🤪
For all the Years that They've been around, I finally started Listening to Them just last Year. They're one of My Favorite Bands now. There's Not one Single Song by Them that I Don't Like. They're Phenomenal!!! They've only gotten even BETTER and More Powerful as Years went on. SAXON FOREVER!!!⚔️🛡️🎸🎼🎵🎶
its best in good English
YES ! SAXON METAL LEGENDS!!!!!!
@@DaveWarpony65 Boy are you in for a treat! Lost track of them after the late 80's and thought they were gone. Rediscovered them around '97 with a 4 band/2 song each compilation CD with Unleash The Beast and Circle Of Light. Those blew me away. Then, Eagle Has Landed II had Forever Free live on it. I FELL IN LOVE!!! So I know how you feel! Started searching their 90's catalogue out and became a fanatic ever since! Burned twice in '05 and '08 when I was supposed to see them, but have seen them every time since Call To Arms (twice on that tour!). Love EVERY album by them!
To be honest, this is my first song i ever heard from Saxon and i'm out of words.outstanding song, killeer riff🤘
You have SO MUCH to discover, young Padawan!
Saxon rocks.. Since the late 70's.. I've been a fan since I first heard strangers in the night all those years ago.. The masters of rock.. And the founders ôf the new wave of British heavy metal... Greetings from South Africa !!
I saw these guys steal the show when they opened for Iron Maiden in 1983! Have been a fan ever since!
What a killing voice, song, guitar riffs, bass, rhythmic and good heavy metal sound!? Amazing! Biff's voice is getting better as he's getting older!? Great and fantastic band! Great album! Greetings from Serbia!
I am 56 years old, i hear Saxon over 30 years (i think longer) what a nice Song and the proof that old means not Boring or to be stuipit. That rocks! Cool, fantastic, awesome what ever!
🤘
58 years old been with these guys since 83 greets from The nederlands
Absolutely love Biffs son Seb is in on the chorus!
And the song is already a classic!
Great great great! Greets to Yorkshire, from Saxony!
Haven't heard a single bad Saxon album since the beginning of the new millennium. You guys are like a good slowly matured scotch. Will certainly get the next album!
One of the best songs they've done in years. Superb work Biff and all the boys. Love how Biff's lyrics capture the mood in an honest and direct way.
Musically it's a good, but not close to mind-blowing or something like that. Would never call it "one of the best songs they've done in years". They have much better songs from the last 2 albums. The lyrics... well, they should've stayed away from this topic.
Away with you, heretic.
@@marinhrabric6162 I know what you are saying. I think it's a catch 22 situation. On one hand, it perfectly describes what the situation was at the time and it's a good historical perspective. However, knowing a lot of people lost many loved ones to Covid, it may be like touching a soft spot to listen to it and hear the words. I loved the fast pace of the song and played it almost every day for 3 months when it first came out!
I lost my Grandpa to COVID, back in October, it really hit hard. Saxon is amazing, thank you for bringing awareness to all those who lost their lives. This singlehandedly is the most important song on the entire album. It probably is one of the most important songs ever made really, because of what it means, and the story behind it.
Finally we get some classic heavy metal....Respect for Saxon
Great Song - Thank you SAXON for the TRUTH.
Signs of the times, this song is incredible, great job , Saxon still rocks hard 🤟🎸
Sounds great! Saxon forever!
SAXON ? THE BEST HEAVY METAL BAND EVER!!!!!!!!! POLISH FAN 🇬🇧/🇵🇱. CONGRATULATION!!!!!
Wow, Paul Quinn seems an adorable elderly and he still gets killer riffs out of his guitar. Very good track
Metal school bro 😉
SAXON WILL RULE THE GALAXY FOREVER!
Saxon was my first concert back in 2011 when they played at the Key Club in LA. My dad dragged me along, I was only 14 years old and pretty naive to Metal. I'll never forget that night. Hearing Demon Sweeny Todd, Hammer of the Gods, Heavy Metal Thunder, This Town Rocks, Princess of the Night, Motorcycle Man, and so many others. Ever since then, I've seen them 4 more times and represent their music every chance I get, CDs, shirts, vinyl, patches - all in on the Saxon fan club! I've had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Glocker (also in LA) and gotten their autographs while in Houston right before the pandemic. They are the only band that I prefer their new sound vs. their 80s/early 90s.
Saxon, you've got fans across the age spectrum; keep kicking ass and writing the best Heavy Metal songs of any band. Can't wait to see you guys live again - to fill my head with heavy metal thunder!!!
u r a lucky man
That's a cool story! 2011 was my first time getting to see them. Loved them as a teen and 20's in the 80's. Lost track of them in the late 80's (thought they were done), then rediscovered them in the late 90's. After hearing Unleash The Beast on a compilation CD, then Forever Free on Eagle Has Landed II, I became a fanatic! Burned on seeing them for the 1st time in '04 on the Lionheart tour when they couldn't get work visas for the tour. Was going to see them 300 miles away in Cleveland when the bar owner found the number for "that guy in Canada" the night before the concert! 2nd time they were supposed to play in Iowa at a metal festival in '08. Passport requirements started coming in and that was the only one I could get my passport in time for. Festival got cancelled two weeks before it happened. Was going to make it a 1000 mile (1 way) road trip on my bike! Saw them every time since 2011 (that one in both Detroit AND Toronto) except when my girlfriend crashed her bike the day before I was to see them in 2015 with Armored Saint! A dream concert for me happened when I saw Saxon and Priest together in 2018 when I took my brother in law in London Ontario. Pure gold! Nice when you find a band with such a catalogue that blows you away, eh? Cheers from Canada!
This is a prime example of why these guys are still around after so many years! Nothing ground breakingly new, but an AWESOME familiourness to this along with Carpe Diem! Kinda like your favorite jean jacket that is old and worn but still feels good when you throw it on!
Saxon : That’s what’s it all about . Pounding Metal 👌
This is outstanding
Such an underrated band!
Still current
Still valid
Still fucking rockin!
Great job boys!
Saw you boys at the Omni in Bezerkely, CA circa 1983?
Wow! Good times
Maybe underrated now days, but a legendary band for sure. And a great influencer of other bands.
Why underrated? Very appreciated.)
Doug's guitar work is tasty! And Nibbsy and Nigel driving this vehicle is fuggin SWEETNESS! Paul and Biff in TOP FORM!
Nice to see and hear Young Seb rounding out Pop's fantastic voice! Holy Shiza...
If you haven't yet, check out the brilliance of Heavy Water... Seriously!

Another great Saxon song! Really looking forward to album. Saxon are one of the most consistent metal bands. It's really cool that they still sound so good so late in their careers.
Absolutely! They are my favorite band due to their large catalogue of consistently good releases!
Great way to kick off 2022
If the two singles this band has released are anything to go by, this upcoming album will be one of their very best. The band and especially Biff sound on fire!!
Saxon hit this one out of the park.
Headbangingly Great ! Saxon never lets us down ! Sending a scream to Biff you still sound as good as you did 100 years ago !

Истинный SAXON!Хорошая песня,истинный металл!Hail from Russia!
Так то оно так, но правды в словах песни нет. Даже рокерам это под запретом?!?!?!
@@valeriytsiganou5424 No disrespect but the rockers you mention who are BANNED must be a BAN from your government. A ban on your people because out here, in the west, we are FREE to listen to who ever the fuck we like. I could SEE how the Russian government would BAN certain music because music and words make people THINK about change and the future and those in power in Russia don't want a revolution because they would LOSE their power. Keep rocking, any way you can, and remember, we Americans share the save values as your people. Take care and God Bless

Good Song from my favorite band. Unleash the Beast is my fav album of all time!
Great album indeed
Awesome album
SAXON as the great band they are from back in the 80s they wrote about circumstances in history like Broken Heroes Dallas 1PM and a song like Remember The Fallen shows wonderful character of the longevity of this special metal band and as their lineup has changed a few times to me as long there is BIFF to steer the band the silver eagle will fly high I have loved them from the start specially the bike songs like Motorcycle Man , Stallions Of The Highway, Wheels Of Steel , Princess Of The Night to name a few and for the record 747 (STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT ) when I heard them for the first time I was a stranger to their music and I never looked back as they become that WHEELS OF STEEL forever in my life
The pure sound NWOBHM... OMG love this...
Still listening and loving Saxon since 1980..
