I honestly think he's a bit like Geddy Lee. Time was kind by filling out his lower register even as it robbed him of the high notes. Still an absolute force live, after all these years.
I had the pleasure a couple of years ago of meeting the band and listening to them record the Inspirations album next door to where I live. Biff is a lovely guy and was great to talk to.
I am both amazed and stunned with the consistency of this band writing awesome music and catchy heavy tunes all those years. Never too complicated, never over the top, never quite new but always refreshing, beautiful little songs. These guys are the epitome of metal. In your face, melodic and makes you bang.
The Saxon Legend will Never Die... They just keep laying down these Great tracks. How many of their contemporaries compare ? Absolutely NONE... Saxon Forever !
when Saxon opened for Motorhead at The Pageant in Saint Louis back in September, 2015, i was lucky enough to meet the bass player of Saxon & speak with him a little and also shake his hand, which is a great honor to me, considering that it was the first & last time that i would get to see Motorhead in concert.
I am lucky enough to have seen these guys twice. First time at Download festival and second time at Rock City in Nottingham. This is by far one of their heaviest songs and catchy as hell. Old and heavy...Long live Saxon!

I'm 44. & I like Saxon. I went to the show in Kent WA. Exclusively to see Saxon. They were every bit as good as Judas Priest. That show rocked. I spent 190$ on alcohol. LOL! I did have a ride home BTW.
Saw them open for Priest (for the first time on that tour) and Saxon was straght better. (Priest was really good, btw.) Had a long conversation with a guy from London a month later in Boston during intermission of the last Rush tour while wearing a Strong Arm of the Law shirt. He was surprised to see someone on this side of the pond in the Saxon shirt, so I told him about the concert and that they deserved the respect. He knew that, but was stunned that an American did. How they never made it over here, I will never understand.
Oh YEAH!!! The old lions of the NWOBHM have bared their fangs once more. Biff Byford is pushing 70 and his voice is still INCREDIBLE after 4+ decades. Amazing! GO BIFF!

Biff byford and Paul Quinn are the only 2 original members of the band leaving those 2 in their 60’s and the rest younger. The first Saxon album came out in 1979 when they were touring England extensively with MOTÖRHEAD (the original incarnation)It’s good to see that they are one of the last few bands from the N.W.O.B.M. Still making an impact!!!
My first metal band!!!!! I was 12 years old when I was listening to "The Eagle has landed"!!! Love them!!!! Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
My first with Saxon 1980 with Wheels of Steel . Great Heavy Metal Band to this day, Good Times from GER.

Iam not a native english speaker so feel free to correct me or add the words where i wasnt sure what ive heard,... the (???) parts
Anyways... amazing song, havent even expected Saxon to fail me, and they never did :)
zexedearth89 Thanks for the post. I'm hearing just a few words different. Let me give it a try.
Come worship at the Metal Church, let your voices rise as one
Stand before the barricade, prepare yourself for what's to come
These walls will resonate tonight to the sound of screaming hordes
Decibels will raise above to fill this concert hall, are you ready to begin, then let the hammer fall
Like a Battering Ram x3
These walls will turn to dust tonight long before the aftershock
Foundations crack, buildings shake, reverberate in pounding rock
Through the smoke you hear the sound, sound of metal striking steel
Do you feel adrenaline racing through your heart, take it up to overload, let's tear this place apart
Like a Battering Ram x3
Let our voices fill the hall
Like we've never done before
Let me hear your battle call
OoooOOooOoooo, Let me hear your battle call
OOoooOOoooooo, Let me hear you one and all
Welcome to the house of steel, this is where we stand or fall
Capturing the atmosphere trapped inside these hallowed halls
We stand inside this Metal Church, together now we are reborn
Decibels will raise above breaking down the walls
Crank it up to overload, watch the hammer fall
Like a Battering Ram......
punktexas Thanks man, you are totally right :D
As i said, it needed a native english speaker, cus i just cant think of all the possible words even if i know them!
Cheers!!
One of my favorit bands!
Great stuff every time!
I will listening to Saxon till my last breath comes!
Love the riff
SAXON IS ALWAYS FIRST CLASS I SAW THEM ON THE POWER AND THE GLORY TOUR I STILL HAVE THE CRUSADER POSTER THAT I BOUGHT AT THE SHOW THOSE WERE THE OLD GLORY DAYS IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE IN FOR A SECOND AWAKENING! ROCK ON SAXON!
Damn this song kicks ass !
it was even better hearing it live at The Pageant in 2015 when they opened for Motorhead & you're only about 15 ft away from the stage
Why is it every production Andy Sneap touches turns to gold?!?!
Never been a fan of Saxon but this tune kicks some serious ass.
Damn, how have I not been listening to these guys for the last 20 years?! Awesome...
Music starts to play:"Hmm not bad."
Biff starts singing: *needs a new pair of pants.
Robert Baratheon
Biff byford and Paul Quinn are the only 2 original members of the band leaving those 2 in their 60’s and the rest younger. The first Saxon album came out in 1979 when they were touring England extensively with MOTÖRHEAD (the original incarnation)It’s good to see that they are one of the last few bands from the N.W.O.B.M. Still making an impact!!!
Saxon proves that age means fuckall with musicianship and vocals
