Recently, I heard in an interview that her late mother was an opera singer. I discovered her by accident recently listening to an interview from Mexico thinking I'd practice my Spanish but it was an English interview with her in Mexico. After the interview I looked up her songs on UA-cam & was mermerized with her talent.
Damn, I enjoyed that so much more than I realized I would, and I was expecting a lot from LP! You’ve helped me realize that I don’t listen to them enough.
Another great review! I, too, am fascinated with LP🤍 they are definitely a vibe! I find lyrics very important, as well. It's definitely frustrating not to understand the words. That being said , though, I agree LP is an artist who is stretching the bounds of how to sing a song and deliver lyrics. I believe their intention is to be more conversational by softening the voice and intentionally slurring the words. Unintelligible lyrics is something Michael Stipe, the lead singer of REM, was famous for. Very few could understand what he was singing, but everyone was so taken with it. Keep up the good work with your videos! Very much enjoyed this one🤍
Happy New Year!! Please react to Elaine Duran’s version of “Because you loved me” by Celine Dion. She is a filipina singer! You should listen to her. Can’t wait for you to hear her amazing voice. Wohoo!!
have you heard any BTS songs? One of their songs called "Lie" samples the opera 'La Vida Breve' from Spanish composer Manuel de Faya. The song is sung by only 1 of their members, as a solo song. The melodic composition is very interesting and relates to the title of the song. 2 of the members of BTS write a lot of their songs, and a lot of their songs are inspired by certain art or literature. Their lyrics often have double meanings or references. They even wrote a song based on Pluto being demoted as a planet lol (as a metaphor for being forgotten/abandoned). Some songs you might like of theirs are: - Black Swan (classical mixed with RnB. Song is about losing passion for your craft = an artist's "first death". There is a version of this song that uses a more classical instrumental arrangement and they had a contemporary dance company perform a dance to it) - Blood, Sweat and Tears (song is based on a book called "Demian” by Hermann Hesse and is about temptation) - Pied Piper (based on the german tale Pied Piper. Serves as a double meaning for a message they wanted to send to their fans) - The Truth Untold (song is based on an Italian tale called La Città di Smeraldo) - House of Cards (jazzy influence mixed with RnB) - Singularity (Maxwell neo-soul style of song.) - Still With You (jazzy type of ballad)
Please consider reacting to Angelina Jordan's performance of Bohemian Rhapsody from America's Got Talent (AGT) - Champions edition, broadcast January 2020. Angelina is a true prodigy, having won the Norway franchise of the 'Got Talent' series of shows at age 8 singing jazz compositions. She was 13 while competing on AGT. For her audition there, she delivered a stunning rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody that got more than the attention of the surviving members of the band Queen. Jess, since you asked me put my comment on your last video I do so. I would like see your reaction to Dmitri Hvorostosky's singing. He was a Russian baritone, who unfortunately died 2017 at the age of 55 to brain cancer. He sang opera, but also Russian romances and popular songs. Here is a link to his concert with Anna Netrebko at Moscow Red Square. It is an encore for the audience after two hours of opera singing. The ral candy is in the last note Dmitri takes.
