Isn't LP just phenominal? Her vocal control while she swoops and climbs and belts and whispers is extraordinary. She is a unique bluesy, jazzy, poppy one of a kind.
Her parents were opera singers and she writes her own original songs too so my thoughts are: she had a unique voice and a unique opportunity to use her parent’s expertise to train it to be the absolute best. Not to say that she didn’t figure some stuff out for herself along the way, but knowing how breath and vocal chords work could only benefit her in this mastery (wizardry).
She also whistles like there is no tomorrow. Unique.
This was heavenly to watch! LP is both a singer and songwriter , having written for Cher, Rihanna, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion and more. LP is absolutely phenomenal and her vibrato is part of what makes her uniquely so. Her mother was an opera singer. LP recalls a time when she was in the car with her mom and singing along to the radio and her mom turned the volume down and asked “ Is that You?!” She sang in choir and her vibrato carried even then. She’s from New York and sang in clubs there before moving to LA. After SXSW in 2006 there was a bidding war for her and she signed with DefJam. This performance was for an EP Into The Wild: Live From the East West studios. It is one of my favorite recordings. She’s very well known overseas and in South America. Unfortunately she has not been promoted well in the States and so she’s not as well known AS SHE SHOULD BE! . I just saw her do a show in Chicago before Lolla and she was just amazing. I would recommend anything Live. Some of her best known songs are Lost On You, When We’re High, Someday, Into The Wild, Strange, Switchblade, Levitator. My personal favorite is Forever For Now. Along with an amazing vibrato and vocal control LP is also known for her impressive whistling. I simply LOVE her. This was incredible to watch. Thank You 🙏
Thank you! Now I don't have to write anything... ;)
Just saw her live for the first time headlining Edgefest, Wy. She was incredible, so talented and she performs with such contagious joy. She is amazing.
so cool her mom was an opera singer! I agree, her vibrato sets her apart
@@ENTITEA I’m hopefully going to see her in April, I’ve been watching live performances to prepare. I’m glad they’re amazing live
I saw her in person in SoCal a few years ago. I felt like the luckiest person in the world. As I understand it Beyoncé made Halo famous but it belongs to LP, no? No matter. I haven’t ever felt about an artist as I feel about LP. She warms my heart!
I love how you do actual deep analysis. Not just on technique and saying whether it’s good or not. You break down even the smallest changing of a vowel and tell us how it stood out to you and what it did for the performance. I love your attention to detail in these videos it’s exceptional.
True. Out of all the dozens of "vocal coaches" I've seen here in YT, her analysis is definitely one of the best (if not the best).
Thank you! That is very appreciated!
Every time I listen to Halo I get goosebumps
Because both you and LP share operatic background, it was a delight to get a knowledgeable walk through her toolbox! Her voice is changing the world!
49 years years old and just now finding LP, couldn't be happier to find such a TALENT and your reaction was so in dept and insightful, thank you!!
LP'S Mom was an opera singer, but died when LP eas a teenager. But o be honest LP admits in a video that covers her career for 20 yrs. that she take opera voice lessons
and is trained , but she didn't want to sing opera.
LP is also an extremely prolific songwriter for quite prominent singers like "The Back Street Boys,".
She she was aloud kid so she sang alot.
I believe having those strong wind-FILLED lungs are the trick.
I saw LP years ago on I think it was a PBS Program like "Austin City Limits,"
with her famous ukele & i loved her style immediately.
I too ,as a singer ,songwriter. guitar player myself & professional recording artist , but although I was discovered by Columbia Records/Sony Music, and quit a few top producers, but i DID NOT want a manager. I enjoyed doing gigs with top musicians in ll kinds of venues.
My favorite singer - ANNIE LENNOX the Soul Sister from Aberdeen who ARETHA sang WITH & that says something.
But I also love Joni Mitchell, LP, SINEAD O'Connor, NATALIE MERCHANT, BILLIE HOLIDAY (of course)and the late DOLORES O'RIORDON.
May i recommend an addictive song by LP?
" LOST ON YOU"
LP IS LP!🎶💖
I like Beyoncé version, but LP's version makes my face hurt from smiling and my heart burst with joy. Truly. It's an entirely different song when LP does it.
The song IS originally from Laura Pergolizzi
@Anthea13 LP is an amazing and prolific songwriter but she did not write this song. Halo was written by Ryan Tedder and Evan Bogart, not LP.
@@lauramarziano1182 thanks for this info. at least i know the facts, but to me lp IS halo
I love the way you described LP’s voice as having a “shimmer”…..🥰
Recently discovered and fell in love with LP. I loved hearing your expert analysis of her vocal abilities, and you are cute as a button (British term) and your enthusiasm (and knowledge) is infectious! Thank you.
Brilliant. I'm glad someone analyzed this performance. Actually one could write a 10 or 20 page essay on vocal technique, filming and editing choices, stage presence, incredible use of dynamics (tension/release) and so much more. Cheers.
I have never seen a bad reaction on LP. It doesn't matter who it is, no one can anything negative about her. Simply amazing artist
This is the kind of reaction that teaches a lot! Your way of analyzing her phrasing is so refreshing. Love it.
Thank you! 😃
How much do I love this newly discovered treasure of the artist that is LP? Enough to watch these deep analysis’ even though I’m not a singer, artist or have the slightest education of music. I’m just here for it. ❤️👏🏼❤️🤩💕
She’s absolutely amazing and her voice is stunning and I’m such a huge fan of hers and should react to more of hers like when we’re high , one last time and goodbye and the one that you love
There will definitely be more to come in the future!
I can't count how many times I've watched this video. Invaluable! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Oh my God, listening to LP does me in and watching and listening to you on top? Whew. I didn't want this video to end. Pleeeeeaaassseee do more LP videos!!
I love your forensic analysis of her voice and her performance. It's the best trip watching someone experience LP for the first time and your knowledge was amazing. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed, Alma!
I teared up at the end. The "second climax" is what makes this cover for me.
I wish I could be that much in love one more time.
In fact I follow her since the first day she outed the "Lost On You" video clip and it's only today that I realize there's something of Édith Piaf in her way to roll "r", in her vibrato. I understand just now why latin people are as sensitive, as receptive to LP and I with them! :)
LP is an incredible artist, you just have to listen to all of her music. She is an amazing writer/ singer, I don't think you will be disappointed. I did enjoy this breakdown and explanation x
With all due respect, Halo was composed by LP for Biyoncé, in fact LP is the owner of this song who sold it to the label.
LP IS FREAKING AWESOME
Yeeeees !!!!!! I .I always knew (and know😊) that Laura is a real creator of this masterpiece ❤❤❤
i never KNEW this, but somehow i suspected it. if true, beyonce was handed a treasure!!!
@@chrislangfeld8690 I think Laura sold ,,,,,Halo,,,,, for a much higher price then regular !!! Therefore Beyonce could credited this as her own ! ,,,Halo ,,,, is like a necklace made of the most beautiful diamonds - and this is Laura's trade mark 😊❤️❤️❤️
@@nikolnikol6460 🤥according to wikipedia, halo was written by Ryan Tedder and Evan Bogart. while lp may not have written it she breathed life into every note & lyric, & hearing HER version touches my sould & gives me chills!!!
WOWZA Lady, Love your reaction❣️ I’ve loved LP for a very long time, first met her when she has a band called Lionfish✨ the song “Maybe the rain” gets me every time!!! Please listen to “Muddy Waters” she takes me to church with this, the down by the River kind of church! I so love your reaction & breakdown of this incredible song, my ultimate favorite! I had studied Bel Canto for 11 years & it’s such an amazing technique that can be applied to any style of music. You remind me of my voice teacher who was amazing! She would get so excited at the good, bad & the ugly parts of every performance, it was all a teachable moment & would explain how to make everything better! Honestly every single song of LP’s original & covers move me, do a deep dive & don’t come up for air😜 I’ve subscribed to your channel & excited to see more, thank you for your excitement & knowledge, would love to hear you sing too❣️
Your feelings about the way LP sings the word "had" (08:05)... I'm 90% sure it's because of LP looking directly in the camera while singing that part. Your soul feels stared at.
I adore LP's skill, style, and character. Thanks for sharing your insights
Thank you for watching!
LP is just phenomenal. She makes it look so easy and has full voice control. I totally fell in love with "Lost on You", that song catches you from the first second. I know so many songs that need their time to get used to but LP catches you immediately. Just WOW!
I wonder why she remains so unknown. At least here in Germany near to nobody knows her.
ditto here in austin, tx!!! SOME (lucky) people know her, but the masses are woefully ignorant of this amazing talent!!! why isn't the media playing her music???
Seems like LP song Lost on you is all over tiktok now
It's really strange. I live in northwestern Poland. Close to the German border. 6-7 years ago her "Lost on you" was literally everywhere. On the street, on the radio, in cars, in stores.... Everywhere for practically the whole summer.... The next songs were also heard, although not as much as "Lost on you".
Loved your reaction to this phenomenal performer❣️ I have just discovered LP over the last week. I have been immersing myself in her catalog. She has to be one of the best performers I have ever seen🙌
I love your deep insight and lovely informative commentary. I also love how enthusiastic and mesmerized you were of this amazing artist. I just discovered her recently and I am in awe!!
I love that she went into the audience. Love her
LP is really good at whistling too! Not the Mariah Carey one, but Im not sure if she can do that too
Oh, I love this, this won't be the last time I watch it.
Thanks go to the sponsor for sharing this with us, and thanks to whom ever put up the money for the giveaways. We have had so many great songs already, what a can of worms they opened for Jess and us.
Jess is spectacular as always, what a talent, and I call being this great of a reactor a true talent, thank you Jess for sharing your talent with us.
Aww that's soo nice of you to say, thank you for the support!
Now that is a performance!
Nice to have found this analysis!!!
I loved your reaction, I learned a lot. I knew that LP is an extraordinary and very complete artist. Please keep reacting to it, I recommend The One That You Love, Forever for Now or Too Much. It will continue to surprise you.
she's amazing. I saw a video where she said her mom is also an opera singer
I love that you react to this, that you give your statements to the overall performance, the instruments and the video. I like that approach of yours, thank you for introducing me to LP .. best wishes and stay healthy, Thorsten from Germany
Thank you for the support and best wishes to you as well!
I've been skipping over your review for some reason but I finally watched you fall in love with LP!! Thank you for being incredibly kind to her. She is an Amazing talent!! 👏
My first time hearing LP, loving what I'm hearing, will have to check out her work 😁👍
She is absolutely wonderful. Listen to her original single “lost for you”, which is usually the first video people react to.
@@Rosannasfriend I have just saved them to watch after this premier (The official & Live version) one at 414 million views & the live at 818 million views...wow!!!
LP is the best 👑 her amazing vocal 🤯 & magical whistling 🥺🤩😎🔥
She's just phenomenal. Amazing range and control.
Right there with Karen Carpenter. Doesn't miss a lick. Not once. Impeccable.
This gives me chills every single time! 🥶🏴☠️👏👏👏👏👏🍾
So good to see you reacted to her she's a great vocalist there is no one of there like her. And she does it with ease. She is so relaxed beautiful to see.
I already love that rendition from LP so much but loved even more now seeing your reactions and faces and analysis. Keep doing this. ;-*
just loved your analysis of such a great singer and performance
I was blown away by LP!!!! Over and I ver again I’ve watched this video and I just can’t believe it! 🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️
As much as I enjoy the original Beyonce version, in all honesty this is the version that puts a lump in my throat
Love your video! Thank you again. I REALLY enjoy your reaction to LP. She sounds amazing Live! Another strong vocal performer I had a chance to see in person in chgo.
Love the way you explain her singing, thanks for reacting to her
I love that cover. LP is amazing. And you reaction is great. And your explantions are clear.
Enchanting. She killed it. Greetings from Italy
I am so surprised that she is not that well known in America.
I subscribed to your UA-cam. Also, because of you, I was inspired to go back to learning piano after quitting more than 45 years. Thank you for the inspiration and for reviewing Rush too.
That's amazing!! I love hearing that! Thank you for supporting!
I absolutely loved this... both LPs cover of halo... and your analysis. This was sooo good! Thx v much.
Thank you soo much for supporting!
My gosh, this woman is so so talented! Amazing!
I just love her technique and skill and sound!!!
Do her “Tokyo Sunrise” (from the same session, in color), for an example of her breath-control.
She faded out the f from the second "fade" :) genius
Nice reaction, plis react more to Lp, she is amazing and her music too
I definitely will!!
She is incredible, once in a lifetime talent for sure.
I was introduced to LP singing ,'' Lost on you". That was cool!
This was absolutely incredible! ❤️❤️
She's great! Thank you for reacting to her. Now I have to hear more from her.
LP is phenomenal vocalist and songwriter. Her songs and her covers are excellent and her live performances are so energetic. There are very few singers like LP. I'm so glad we have them. :) Thank you, Jess, for the detailed analysis.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for watching LP!
It was my pleasure!
I just love her vocal technique, sound, skill, she is just pheonominal! I love her!!!
She is so unique and so underrated
Loved loved loved your reaction!
Not only was it so enthusiastic but it was enlightening to boot!
Your analysis was so informative to me. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@23:49.......love the quiet emotional transition at that moment
Yes LP!!! 🙌💪🙌
And you yourself are so talented and knowledgeable! This is so cool to watch
Thank you, Kaitlyn!
Adore LP...she is the Queen!
Loved this analysis. Loved the LP performance also.
learned so much from this analysis :-) amazing, thank you !!!
You have to react to the LP videos “other people”, “Levitator” and When we’re high”
I will get to these!
@@jessicasopranonotes try this one song, sounds great! ua-cam.com/video/wtCvrRF4cUQ/v-deo.html
Very good reaction!!!I love LP , thank you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
I appreciate your in-depth break down and explanation. It was very good. I've listened to other evaluaters of LP, you really explained a lot.
Thank you. ❤
Just found your channel, and so glad I did! You make great, entertaining videos that are also informational.
Thanks Julia! 💛
That pose on 12:44 (That, that is so Freddy). Did you know her mother was opera singer.
HALO🎶
@Chayce Wilson 🇵🇭💚
I dig the way you're not lazy in expressing the depth and detail of what you're hearing and feeling. Great reaction! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed!
I agree with u on each point except for 1... I don't see how anyone, who truly likes any type of music, could not love her voice & this cover! It's not often a cover can match or better the original song, but this is definitely 1 of them!
you are so well spoken. yes, L.P. is great. saw her live, she sounds exactly like this. was blown away with her vocal abilities
Thanks so much for this brilliant analysis 😁
Many people say her/their vibrato is almost bird like, plus she/they is/are an amazing whistler, much like a song bird lol
I really enjoyed your video all your explanations it was super informative I will be watching more of your videos I love anything from Lp she is amazing
Thank you, Rene!
Thank you so much for this :)
Awesome reaction and analysis!!
Hi there just saw this reaction and I loved it I'm a huge fan of LP I seen her live in a concert and she's really that good love her voice and song writing I wanted to suggest for you to react to muddy waters trust me you'll love it live version also, thank you so much for this reaction ❤️
She most deffo has a vibe, I discovered her a couple of years back and all her music is stunning, very cool 😎. A very interesting person I'd love to have a chat with
Great analysis loved it❤
Please do more LP anything!
Girl, you're killin' it. I break music down for my wife. Unsolicited of course. I'm glad there are people like you. Not sure LP would agree with some of your analysis or maybe she would learn from it. To put it generically, she could sing the phone book. Thank you
wow i love all the eplainations for the amazing singing
LP- the Ido Portol of Sound
Let me focus on you first, you are the best analytical detailed genius wow ! The best REACTOR, and of course LP is the best in her own right, she has her own unique niche, be it cover or her own composition
Never heard this before... what a great cover. 🤯 Amazing talent and technique.
LP is a resident of Long Island New York, she studied Opera, both parents were opera singers, her mother died without knowing she was gay. Her father said it was just a phase, NOT...!!!! LAURA PERGOLIZZI is gender neutral, if it feels right, work with it! She's written songs for Madonna, Cher, Boyz II Men, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Celine Dion, etc. Here's another song of hers you can react to 891 million views, it's an original, Lost on you! Also probably already know, you're featured in a UA-cam video called, Timgasms! Also hear some more Home Free videos to react to, that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Home Free, Ring of fire, Home Free mayday, Home Free, buttz remix, I cannot run you, featuring Adam Chance singing lead. Home Free, How Great thou art Home Free, it blue ain't your color, Home Free, what Christmas means to me. Home Free hillbilly Bone. They've got like 150 videos, they're very funny group, and it looks like you're on your way to be coming a Home Fry, that's what the fans call themselves. If you're not hooked yet then your side order of fries! Enjoy yourself my God you pretty! Sexiness everywhere..!!!!
This version of the song is amazing omg!!! She sings a song called Lost on you in this same concert , I think, and it's also super great!! I know i'm being repetitive but your videos are awlays incredible, really!!
Love and support from Brazil!
Thank you, thank you!!
Great analysis :)
Her mom was an opera singer too!
Love love love this video, best reaction to an LP song (or any song) that I've ever seen, can't wait to watch more of your videos. I also loved that you singled out Nick Rosen (the bassist) I really hope to see you react to her singing some of her own songs. I was about to type out a lengthy bio for LP, but the short version is that after some false starts she ended up writing songs for other people for quite a while (Cher, Backstreet Boys, Christina, Rhianna etc) Here's a video about her finding her way back to being an artist again: ua-cam.com/video/NnVE8aQRyTc/v-deo.html and here's a video of her singing Black Dog by Led Zeppelin ua-cam.com/video/oEC2hlq2akg/v-deo.html with the house band at Bardot (Nick Rosen was the band leader there)
What a voice, love her. Also listen to Guy Sebastian and Angelina Jorden.
