We sold Germany some of these, I remember a pair of them screaming over my head at tree top level. I believe I peed myself a bit, sitting on top of my tank. What a great day that was. Reforger 81. Those were the days of my youth.
My favorite fighter.. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Performance was certainly upstaged later, but nonetheless to me it's still the most badass of them all. The Countach of the fighters? Maybe that's a lame analogy I dunno. I just love F-104's, esp. CF-104's being a Canuck.
@@32tfs As a youth I lived for the Starfighter displays at our local airshows (CNE, London ON, Base Borden etc.) - going to an airshow for me was about seeing CF-104's, and the other stuff that was also there. I think the last display I saw was in the 80's at Borden. Close to my heart also was the CF-101 VooDoo, badass looking but the best part was the hard-start afterburners - typical display was to point the tail at the crowd and hit the burners - BOOM BOOM to the chest and big smiles.
Not a terrible anology, but I'd say more... "AC Cobra" that's the car that was so much faster than anything else on the road, and also got more drivers killed than any other car. Ha!
Fred Flintstone It was used to stop the aircraft in emergencies. Military airfields used to have a cable across the width of the runway to catch the hook and slow down the aircraft.

Development of the F-104 began in 1952, and the first XF-104 made its initial flight in 1954. On May 18, 1958, an F-104A set a world speed record of 1,404.19 mph, and on Dec. 14, 1959, an F-104C set a world altitude record of 103,395 feet. The Starfighter was the first aircraft to hold simultaneous official world records for speed, altitude and time-to-climb. 14 December 1959 - F-104C - 56-885 - Capt "Joe" B. Jordan - World Altitude Record of 31513 m (103395.5 feet).
Wish someone would throw an engine cover on so that fan blade would stop turning. As soon as I heard that rattling noise, I knew what it was, lol. Our fans, on the KC135, would do that like crazy if there was any wind.
Schitterende opname. Maar inderdaad die irritante bel. Nooit anders geweest volgens mij.
From the tower it was found that a valve was open. So the pilot chose to land for a while before flying home. In the end it turned out that the open valve sounded like this, so luckily nothing was wrong. It was nice that people apologized from the tower with the explanation, but we have never seen such an aircraft.
You mean to tell me this is your first shoot of an 104 in flight? Hopefully the aircraft will come to Holland to say goddbye to the F-16, aswell as a Meteor and Hunter.
Yes it was also for me the first time to film a Starfighter but took photo's back in the 80ties sometimes of a Starfighter. But I meant the people working on the tower that day didn't see a starfighter flying before they said.
Can't do that, there is a public road that passes at the end of the runway, the bell is meant to warn drivers of an airplane about to take off. Us Dutch people have a habit of building roads at the very end of runways and putting people in the middle of an airplanes jet wash.... Just look up Juliana airport at Sint Maarten.
Sad to say I could not wait for the video to be over so I would not have to keep listening to that bell while at the same time fantasizing over smashing a baseball bat over the person in charge of it.
32TFS Aviation Thank you for the Information. I am actually aware of the use and intent of that bell. It does make sense. It‘s just so freakin‘ annoying....😂

A jet plane the way God intended it to be, Absolutely beautiful 🤗🤩
It's for sure one of the most beautiful fighter plane ever build. Thanks for watching.
We sold Germany some of these, I remember a pair of them screaming over my head at tree top level. I believe I peed myself a bit, sitting on top of my tank. What a great day that was. Reforger 81. Those were the days of my youth.
Thanks for watching and sharing your nice story.
How old are ya now sir?
My favorite fighter.. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Performance was certainly upstaged later, but nonetheless to me it's still the most badass of them all. The Countach of the fighters? Maybe that's a lame analogy I dunno. I just love F-104's, esp. CF-104's being a Canuck.
Thanks for watching and sharing your story mate 👍
@@32tfs As a youth I lived for the Starfighter displays at our local airshows (CNE, London ON, Base Borden etc.) - going to an airshow for me was about seeing CF-104's, and the other stuff that was also there. I think the last display I saw was in the 80's at Borden. Close to my heart also was the CF-101 VooDoo, badass looking but the best part was the hard-start afterburners - typical display was to point the tail at the crowd and hit the burners - BOOM BOOM to the chest and big smiles.
@@mjd4174 Great mate, personaly I was very thrilled with the 104 coming by back in 2018. 😊👍
Not a terrible anology, but I'd say more... "AC Cobra" that's the car that was so much faster than anything else on the road, and also got more drivers killed than any other car. Ha!
Great video, just a shame with the annoying bell.
Thanks for watching and yes that bell is annoying. In the description of the video I explained the situation and the reason/function of the bell.
Beautiful to both see and hear!
Yes for sure it is, thanks for watching.
Nothing else sounds like an f104.:)
Nothing beats that great howling sound.
Another 104 does.
😉
Beautiful video. I remember when I have worked on this Aircraft.
Thank you for your comment and watching the video. Greetz from the Netherlands.
Best regards, from Valter Moras, Italian Military Air Force
Do nước nào sản xuất nhỉ?
My dad worked on those planes for the 323 squadron at Leeuwarden..
He had a great job then, such a beautiful airplane. Thanks for watching, Groeten.
wow - great video, thank you.
Thanks for watching.
Lol does that run on oil? Damn what a black smoke
Indeed not good for the environment but have to admit it was great to see.
j-79 engine smoke a lot. And howl!
Hammy Rockets produce fantastic exhaust, so should the rocket with wings.
Paulys hobbies and stuff loved to video the starfighters. Rest in peace Pauly.
Look at that BLACK trail !!! Old school 👍👍👍
Yes and hear that great howling sound:) Thanks for watching.
I never noticed an arresting hook on a 104 before. Where did it fly that it needed that?
Fred Flintstone It was used to stop the aircraft in emergencies. Military airfields used to have a cable across the width of the runway to catch the hook and slow down the aircraft.
Togo? That's an Polynesian island . And can somebody put that noisy bell off?
Isn't that the plane Chuck Yeager got up to 100,000ft?
No, I think you mean the X1 plane where he was breaking the sound barrier in.
Development of the F-104 began in 1952, and the first XF-104 made its initial flight in 1954. On May 18, 1958, an F-104A
set a world speed record of 1,404.19 mph, and on Dec. 14, 1959, an F-104C set a world altitude record of 103,395 feet. The Starfighter was the first aircraft to hold simultaneous official world records for speed, altitude and time-to-climb. 14 December 1959 - F-104C - 56-885 - Capt "Joe" B. Jordan - World Altitude Record of 31513 m (103395.5 feet).
awesome!!
Thanks for watching mate. 👍
I’m just curious, how do you know it’s a Canadian Starfighter?
Here you can find the answer ;) vintageaviationecho.com/starfighter-test-flight/ Thanks for watching the video.
Surely isn’t in our colours. But having looked at the link I understand.
Wish someone would throw an engine cover on so that fan blade would stop turning. As soon as I heard that rattling noise, I knew what it was, lol. Our fans, on the KC135, would do that like crazy if there was any wind.
Thanks for watching.
brilliant aircraft
Thanks for watching the video and your nice comment.
Show me one of the modern aircraft design, that can outbid this shape of the STARFIGHTER.....
Your totaly right there isn't. Thanks for watching the video.
Schitterende opname. Maar inderdaad die irritante bel. Nooit anders geweest volgens mij.
Indeed it was called widowmaker. Thanks for watching 👍
Was anything the matter?
Yes, ofcourse. I didn't realize that.
Great shots
Thanks for watching the video.
The J79 are very smoki😁
Love the smoke and howling sound :)
Later version J79 had decreased smoke and (unfortunately) decreased howling sound.
Good oldtimes!👌
Thanks for watching.
I tought all starfighters where to Mars, good to see the old rocket-holder once more!
This is the last flying 104 in Europe:)
The aircraft-symbol of my young age, when the world was divided in 2 blocks: "goods" (NATO) and "bads" (Soviets)😁
Thanks for watching the video.
Wow, what a plane.
For sure it is:)
turn off that fricken alarm!
Plz kill that dam bell !!!!
That's just a loose fan blade.
An alarm bell for all widows of the West German Air Force's ground attack Star Fighters .
@@YIIMM The guy coughing was more annoying!
Prachtig mooi toestel
Absoluut helemaal mee eens.
Lucky bastards , an unexpected treat !
Yes indeed not only the takeoff witnessed but also it's landing:)
Cigar anyone? No thanks, I just had a smoke. ;)
Nice Vid - but that annoying "fire bell" severely detracted from the jet...
Yes that's true, you can read in the description what the bell is for.
What stupid Dork installed the hell-bell of alarm there????
Otherwise the 104 rulez!
You can read the explanation of the ringing bell in the description of this video.
32TFS Aviation Thank you for the Information. I am actually aware of the use and intent of that bell. It does make sense. It‘s just so freakin‘ annoying....😂
Will someone answer that damn phone?!!!
The stuff i would do to get to fly this awesome aircraft
That BELL!!!
HELLO , THIS IS THE SKUNK WORKS .
Yes it is, thanks for watching.
Flying low and slow with this Tasmanian demon is not a very precautionary flight.
The only annoying and stupid was that wind mill in the back... the rest was awesome!
Haha, thanks for watching and your great comment:)
A dirt slingshot in the sky!
Nice isn't it ;) Thanks for watching.
