I was privileged to spend my teen age years at Luke AFB when the "Starfighters Came to Town." My dad was in the initial cadre of instructors to train the Luftwaffe pilots.
Back in the late 80's the Lockheed Starfighter made numerous appearances at USAFE airshows here in the UK. The low level high speed passes on reheat were just amazing, I will never forget those wonderful times.
When I was a kid I wanted so badly become a fighter pilot. And to fly the Straighter. Of course I failed. But seeing this it gives me back the feelings that I had back than..I had a plastic model that I blew up with a firecracker and threw it out of the window of my bedroom...but to my surprise it survived!
Great video! The sound is so beautiful. Could film the Starfighter's arrival and flying display at Aalborg Airshow the same weekend. It was magnificient. :)
Even allowing for the high maintenance/operating costs, I don't understand why there is no longer an English Electric Lightning flying when there seems to be several Starfighters not just fast taxying but actually flying in various parts of the world. It is great to still be able to see these old birds flying.
Originally it did indeed. Germany later (in 1968) opted to exchange that for a rocket boosted, upward firing Martin-Baker GQ 7A ejection seat though, after several failed attempts of Luftwaffe pilots to make an emergency landing instead of bailing out and getting themselves killed trying. That had everything to do with the way the Luftwaffe was using their F-104G's. If something goes wrong while you're doing Mach1 + groundhugging, the idea of ejecting out downward is not very appealing.
Is this the plane that landed on Torp today? 26/6-2018? Very cool, very loud, it had a kind of low pass over my workplace before circling around and landing. Very Cool!
I have a BMW V8 is says raaaaawr. -I have a simple f-104 It says WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The 'problem' with SU-27 Flanker. -The sound comes before the actual airplane. Damn. That impresses me. -And no, no. F-104 'Widowmaker', -anoone that flies that is allowed to drink, not only taxying with an open hood. Its a rocket. Very short wings. Wrong angle on landing and its 400kmp/h to your death. -Imagine the buckets of sweat norwegian pilots have made...
Dank für die tollen Videos. Alte Erinnerungen mit viel Wehmut.

A privately owned starfighter - there is nothing cooler than this on planet earth.
Good F-104 version with tiptanks, otherwise range limited to 1200 kilometers, with tiptanks extended to 2920 kilimeters...
Indeed except a Phantom
@@enricomandragona163 Is there such a thing? I hope so.

RESPEKT !
The most Beautiful Jet in the World

That dirty old J79 engine!
@@SGBlackstar True, but I love it :)
Sempre bellissimo gran macchina❤❤❤
I was around starfighters as a child. My dad was RCAF Sweet memories.
What an astonishing sound that J 79 makes.
The 427 big block of jet engines L-88!!
Thanks. My Favorite Airplane. Originally, US Air Force Lockheed F-104 Starfighter.
had to be yank
Was ein schönes Flugzeug, Erinnerungen an MFG1 Jagel 1980
Great video of a beautiful plane. Thanks for sharing this video with us 🙏🏻 I saw this plane at Aalborg airshow 2018 and it was thrilling. 😃
Excellent. A video with no music...

Nothing like the sound of a J-79 !! Better yet two of them!!
Groundspeed from standing start is amazing- I've never seen anything so fast in acceleration .
Several modern fighters have better acceleration due to their higher thrust-to-weight ratio.
Airwolf howl?
Just the coolest plane ever.
I love starfighter
Tøft! Det er så flott å se den på vingene!
The Haul! Still gives me goosebumps.
Just love the sound of that J-79 starting up!
F104 Forever
fantastisk video
👏👏👏👏❤
the nicest plane ever
Ein wirklich schönes Flugzeug, leider oft auch viel verteufelt !

Increvebol cacys
Didn’t the ejection seat exit the plane from the bottom because of the T tail?

Don Atchinson II worked in A.F. on C & D models, they origninaly came with downward ejection,we changed all to upward 1958-1959
Nice plane ever !!
Starfighter? Space Force Aircraft?

Fantastisk!!!
Takk for videoen. Måtte rekke 16.30 flyet hjem så fikk ikke med meg Starfighteren.
Er så rå design på det flyet,vi har en på sokkel utenfor der jeg jobber.Ser på den nesten hver dag :-)
..why do they smoke?
older engines always smoked
Incomplete combustion producing soot. Modern engines burn more cleanly.
3 Tails & no wings! Missile with a cockpit.
And I ended flying gliders TMG's and Cessna's c.a.
Wolf voice ;)
goed begeleidingsteam!
Yes, there may be much faster, more capable aircraft today, but the Starfighter was the embodiment of an era, AND STILL LOOKS INTIMIDATING.
Råeste fighteren !
