What holster is used for your Glock 17, and can you modify it to meet your needs? Also, another question: can you buy your own body armor instead of having your department issue it to you? Because department-issued body armor can be uncomfortable. (Look up Safe Life Defense body armor. They are phenomenal, streamlined, and comfortable, and customized. You can set your vest up the way you want it, and decide exactly what you need for specific operations).
Some people have drop holsters but we aren’t allowed to do much with the holsters. I was able to get a new vest last year. I don’t know the exact type but it extremely comfortable compared to my precious vests

My agency is 3 years sworn from the date of the written exam but this is only offered every 2 years. So you could have anywhere from 3-5 years on when you take it
@@copmom911 I think it really ought to be that every officer should have at least an EMT-Basic out of academy. While it doesn't give you much in terms of medical skills (really other than CPR, and the ability to use an epi-pen and Narcan in certain states) at least an EMT-B teaches what NOT to do in terms of things that aren't necessarily common knowledge but can exacerbate or cause further injury.

I'm from the UK and 2 female police approach me and I'm not use to guns and I was so nervous and they said why are you so nervous I said because you have guns and I'm not use to it and they was fine with me but I was terrified
My husband is very supportive of my decision but also just retired from a long firefighting career. We have had similar struggles dealing with public safety careers so it def lends itself to a good and positive understanding of my struggles.
@@copmom911 Personally, I think its the best decision you could have made from the standpoint that as a society we need more females in the profession- I find it disturbing that women, gay men, and African Americans are under-represented in law enforcement. Rather, I just don't think most departments are doing enough to address some of the more unique barriers with respect to certain demographics.
Hi! I am attending the academy in august but I have some reservations as a single mom. I do have daycare set up but I’m worried about the lack of childcare if I’m on call and it isn’t available. My parents work and my son’s father isn’t in his life. Do you think it’s doable? I was thinking about an AGR position if I decide not to go to the academy.
Congratulations on going to the academy! That is very exciting. I would find out exactly what is expected of you from the agency. For example, mine has limited positions that require being on call unless there is a state of emergency…what is AGR?

Well, I am a police/balloon enthusiast and when I get older I want to be part of the Houston Police SWAT Team. I would think that a Taser would feel like a really staticky balloon or when you would get shocked by something that has static electricity. Plus, Tasers have 50,000 volts of electricity and have an automatic run time of 5 seconds. Also, Tasers have 2-4 fish-hook like probes depending on what type of Taser it is (Taser X26, Taser X12 Shotgun (not available), Taser X2, Taser 7-the newest Taser, Taser Bolt-Citizen edition (not available) ). Tasers use Neuromuscular incapacitation to subdue their targets.
He is extremely supportive! He just retired from a large fire department so he is used to women in male dominated fields. He also enjoys a 24/7 bodyguard! 😂😂😂 thank you so much for your kind words, best wishes to you and yours as well

Question: Are police officers trained EMTs, EMRs, or Paramedics
They are not required to be in my jurisdiction. I am CPR/First Aid/Basic Tactical Emergency Medical Care trained. None of those are required though...

How long have you been a police officer? I am strongly considering it but I do need to lose about 40-50 pounds and work on my strength.
