Spring has sprung here in New Orleans on a beautiful Monday afternoon in the Quarter with some Tuba Skinny. The divine Defne “Dizzy” Incirlioglu sitting in on washboard.
Many thanks, Randy. One of the joys of this video is that your camera angle enables us to observe the subtleties of Dizzy's playing - notably the use of that cymbal. She frequently strikes it on the fourth beat of the bar or on the second beat, where a little drive or emphasis is required. She occasionally strikes it on the first beat, especially to mark the start of choruses, or others' solos, or 8-bar sections. She never strikes it on the third beat of the bar, where it would serve no purpose. It's very sensitive. You can spot exactly the same kind of subtleties when she plays with The Secret Six or The Shake 'Em Up Jazz Band.
I'm delighted to see Dizzy still with them on occasion; she seems more 'into it' than she was sometimes - as she has with other bands. Great stuff, as usual.
What a lovely, relaxed performance, with everyone quietly and unobtrusively enjoying themselves!
If these guys were here in Belfast they would have a crowd round them!!! Brilliant!!😅

Thanks for pointing out the not-always-obvious subtlety of Dizzy's wash-boarding - I see what you mean! She really is in a class of her own...
Perfect antidote to a wet and windy day here in Limeyland.
Sounding great on a Monday evening. Always a pleasure having Dizzy set in for Robin.
One of the most impressive things is that every musician understands their place in the ensemble. That takes a lot of listening to records etc.
Oh to just beam in, enjoy the music, the vibes, the sunshine…….
Always Way Mo Good !
Daydreaming at 7AM already. I'm right there with youse. As always thank you.
A música é verdadeiramente uma companheira para a vida é pode curar a solidão. ❤Obrigada Tuba Skinny e Raoul🎉🎉
Thanks for posting! Oh, to be there!
Thanks for the info, Ivan. Dizzy’s also a regular contributor to Jenavieve Cooke’s band, The Winding Boys.

Love you all!!
What days do they play on the streets?
How can I find out when T/Skinny is going to do a street performance? I would like to travel to N.O. for such a great show.
