This video got me in to board gaming with my first game being Gravwell. Now if you only said would I end up needing to buy the largest IKEA shelf in order to store all my board games a year later... or that watching your channel would become expensive because there really are that many fantastic games out there... oh well it’s a really enjoyable hobby.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Zayden Parker Instablaster =)
It's great to be reminded of some of the older formats that SUSD took years ago. Before we even hear the name of the game being "reviewed," we learn about the concept first. Then we take a look at another game that does that well, to be used as a point of comparison for the real subject matter. Great stuff.
Years ago when I was at GenCon I played this game for the first time with one of the designers. I played a three player game with him and one of my friends. And for the first three or four rounds of the game I played "Party in the Singularity" where I just forced the designer to sit in the singularity with him. It was here I found the Argon is the best damn card in the game because it always goes first and is great for skipping behind a friend and forcing them to go flying backwards. Meanwhile, my friend was in the lead but wasn't getting anyone because once he got past the second dirlect ship he had no one to slingshot off of anymore and slowly began to drift back towards us. I had an amazing time and immediately bought the game. It's amazing and I love it.
"Pickle Quins. Funniest shit I've ever seen."
I love watching the SU&SD backlog just to find new things.
I was not expecting pickle plating. Definitely going to impress my friends at my next game night with THE ENIGMA.
Years ago this video (when it was originally published) single-handedly got me into modern board games. I'd heard of Catan (of course) and knew that the hobby existed in edge of my periphery, but didn't really think anything of it.
When I somehow saw this random video about a game embodying a concept in such a neat, quirky, and interesting way I was immediately compelled to grab a copy. And that was basically all she wrote, was a hit with the friends and was my personal opener to board games. Still love the concept and pull it out from time to time.
i wish i loved anything as much as quinns loves boardgames
This game is fantastic! Every game without fail someone messes up someone which messes up someone else resulting in a round where everyone goes backwards. I call it the 'Circle of Failure'.
I need that beans recipe. RIGHT NOW!
Sapemies58 green beans? Baked beans? So many questions!
Here in the colonies we call them pickles. I always thought it was the brits who called them gherkins... Maybe nobody actually calls them gherkins, instead we all have this misunderstanding that any country foreign to us calls them gherkins instead of pickles, and that's why we have so many wars.
We do call them gherkins in Britain (I do anyway). I assume that Quins was trying to wind up the Americans in the audience with that line. The other, more disturbing, interpretation is that American tv has corrupted us to such an extent that we can no longer remember the difference between right and wrong words (this happens to me on occasion so it could be that).
Australia calls them gherkins, I say 2 years later. Typical Western Australian.
@@Spearca cornichon
@@Spearca i believe they are tiny, sweet pickles. But yes, the word is French
I call Gravwell the strategy game that plays like a party game. Great stuff!
"madder than a bird in a bag"...priceless
I said GOODDAY SIR!!
I can't wait to try those pickle ideas! (Oh, and great review, as always)
well hello again!
i love seeing the old videos!

2020: nerds still need conversation cards to talk to the other sex.
You guys are amazing!
This looks like something I'd enjoy playing with my family.
My wife and I really enjoy this game. Sure, it pretty much stays on the shelf because we'd rather play something like Viticulture, but it's a great game when we have friends or family visiting who are not too into board games. Great review and look into Gravwell.
Snow tail is in print now, by Renegade Games. It's the best simple racing game I've ever tried.
It's also on Cardhaus
It's a great gateway came for new players which I don't mind teaching and playing
Imma need the SUOASD Amazon link to the card game involving asking a woman if she is "Inclined to boss the house".
"Oh yeah, Gravwell."
I definitely went straight to the kitchen after watching this review to eat a few gherkins.
this is the video i always look for but forget the name of
I bought it from books a million for like $3 a while back. Haven’t played it yet
Nice review, if you like long games with diplomacy and surprises. I would highly recommend Vampire the eternal struggle.
aaaaaaAAAAAAH! Netrunner shirt!
From whence the Netruuner t-shirt?
Do they make bean-scented Essential Oils now?
Ah yes. Great grandma Quins.
Q, are you ill or just really over tired?
Love ya Quinns.
Is this an old review? I've had this since August of 2016.
The description says it was first published in 2014
You should review down force.
Pickle Quinns!
I'm American and this is literally the first time I've heard the word gherkin.
and than he showed some pickels funnest shit ever
I love Gravwell. A dozen or so plays, including one 2-player game lost to an AI controlled by random cards drawn off the deck, and we don't get tired of it. My wife's goal is always to try and take the derelicts with her to the warp gate and abandon the rest of us. Fun :D
But I'm confused by the sentiment that once you get far into the lead (which we call no man's land), you just spend your turns tractor-beaming the derelicts back to the singularity, because what else are you going to do? How are you tractor-beaming the derelicts *away* from you? Is that a thing, or have I misunderstood?
Lmao, essential oil
Wait a sec, is this the goose game?
I'll never understand the food bits. lol So bizarre.
Yeah, it's just so odd for a board game show to incorporate that. lol
Can't argue with that! lol ;-)
I completely agree....I end up just skipping that part of the vid.
Might be to be able to monetize the videos and having fun at the same time?
Into all the hobby can be? Re-review Virgin Queen!!!
Formula D is not a beginner game.
You're right, it's a garbage bin game
I turned myself into a pickle, Matt! I'M PICKLE QUIIIIIINNS!
Weirdly reminds me of cribbage
Where in America do they call them gherkins?
That's how the jars are labeled for those little ones.
53rd!
Go get some sleep, ma boi
Bwahahahahahaha!
