We in the modern times forget how dangerous to the mom and baby that the birthing process can be.
It can, but this today is extremely rare.
It is not the modern time for nothing. Many of these situations can be avoided by a C-section. You don't leave someone in labor for 30 hours !!!!!!! What was that OB/Gyn doing ? performing scheduled procedures ? What was going on ? Did she forget about that poor woman, exhausted by likely a non productive labor ? what the Hell ?
@@linanicolia1363 Exactly, she shouldn't have been in labor for 30 hours! You make a point! The doctors didn't handle this right. I never said it was the modern time for nothing!
@@linanicolia1363 comment makes total sense 🤔
My labor was so fast, I was so fortunate. By the time I realized I was actually having my baby (a week before his due date) I got to the hospital and was 6cm dilated. 2 hours later I was pushing. I can’t fathom 30 hours.
My wife almost died with our daughter. They couldn’t stop the bleeding but the doctor saved her. I’m crying for this guy right now.
Omg thank God your wife is okay !! This is scary 🙏🏼😢❤️
He’s only crying cause he gotta take care of that baby
Your doctors were great 👍
This happened with my son in 2022. Lost 2 litters of blood within mins after giving birth. . I was so scared that I didn’t hold my baby for a good 20 minutes. The moment when you realize somethings wrong, and everyone in the room is panicking, I saw my life before my eyes. Good thing the doctors quickly gave me Pitocin to slow my bleeding and removing the rest of the placenta . Sadly, it was extremely traumatizing. I won’t be having any more kids after that experience. This is heartbreaking.😢
@@theforcesofnature3128 you are horrible person
My wife had the same thing .. worst day of my life watching her turn green and keep passing out then needing a blood transfusion. Blessed to say she pulled thru after being in icu and the doctors telling me to say my goodbyes . My heart is truly broken for this man, and i wish him the best . Keep your head up .. 😢
Must have been so difficult for you to witness. I hope you had support to overcome this trauma. So many men who have gone through this type of trauma don't get any help.
Your wife survived?
@@mirelam9601 Read.
How long was she in labor. Is this due to a prolonged labor?
She did survive. She had Amniotic Fluid Embolism and DIC Disseminated intervascular coagulation We were in the hospital for over a week .. after the c section she came back to the room green and passing out/ throwing up ,they ran a ultrasound and see she has 4 liters of blood in her stomach that she lost had to go back in for surgery and got a blood transfusion . Went to icu didn't think she was going to make it.. but she pulled thru just hit the 3 year mark of that happening . I'm still affected by it today.. she does not remember a thing but I sure do.
30 hours of labor is beyond crazy. At 12 hours I demanded a C-section. That is exactly what the dr. should have done for this woman.
The same thing would’ve happened even with a c section. The amniotic fluid got into her bloodstream and her body reacted to it in a bad way. It’s a rare thing.
@@ejwis1 I do not know the first thing about a C-sction but, it seems to me that would have been my first idea. Have a C-section after so many hours of labor. I feel like her outcome may have been much different. Maybe we have an expert reading our thoughts here that can elaborate. May the beautiful woman rest in peace in heaven with our God and prayers for her family and friends.
My first was 42 hours. And my water had already broken at the 4-hour mark. Would've been longer, but at the 36-hour mark, I demanded pitocin to move things along and an epidural (no pain relief up to that point). I was very lucky that nothing worse happened.
Maternal RN here. 30hrs isn't an absurd amount of time for a first delivery. Labor can progress as long as her water is still intact or mom and baby are otherwise doing well. After a long time with her water broken then they might recommend a c/s to prevent her from getting chorioamnionitis (or they might start her on antibiotics and try for a vaginal delivery), but a long labor isn't an automatic indication for a c/s unless the patient requests it or is too tired to proceed with the remaining labor. An AFE is RARE and SUDDEN. There is no preventing it. A bubble of baby's amniotic fluid enters mom's blood stream via the capillaries between the uterus and placenta, then her body treats it like a foreign object, having a reaction to it.
@@psychlover42 thank you for explaining more. You are such a wonderful help to learn more about the tragic passing of this beautiful young lady. God bless.

I had an amniotic fluid embolism giving birth to my 4th son. I had liver failure, lung failure, kidney failure, & 20+ blood transfusions. Doctors force emergency surgery because C sections save the nurses and doctors time and allow them to go sit back down at nurses station and in the Doctors lounge.

Very sad when a new dad has his precious baby but not his spouse. Endless condolences. R.IP. 🌹 🕯🥀 💐💔 .
The lack of prenatal and childbirth education in this country is horrifying. The medical system is so messed up. 30 hours in labor? Did her water break? Usually 12 hours after water has broken, interventions are made. Was she on her back her whole time? Epidural? There are so many factors that play into an outcome. My heart breaks for this man. I'm glad he has his little boy.
Is not that simple. Her water breaking was the cause of the embolism. Her body had an allergic reaction to the fluid. People forget that pregnancy is a huge risk.
I wonder the same thing maybe she wasn't moving and on her back...s😢
@devilmaycry9969 I know it's not that simple, hence why I mentioned there are so many factors that play into an outcome. If the amniotic fluid got into her bloodstream for her to react to it, then there was tearing or hemorrhaging happening at some point for it to access her body outside of the uterus. It's so very sad.
BRAVO
This was definitely malpractice.
A while back I overheard the cashier cheerily ask the man ahead of me if his child had arrived. He said they had both died during birth. He was so sad.
How terrible! 😭
How terrible 😭

Omg..that is so heartbreaking 💔 😢
This is beyond heartbreaking. I hope that man's okay. My heart breaks for him... 😢😢😢💔
I hope this father will love his son with all his heart, even though he lost his wife.
My grandfather's mother died during his birth, but instead of love him, his father hated him, and was abusive towards him cause he blamed him for his mother's death. Despite that he grew up to be a good man. Never let your son feel like it's his fault, always love him for 2 people, you and his mom. A real good mom would die to protect her child, and she died giving him his life. ❤
he was a very silly man because he got her pregnant. He was just a fetus growing to term to be born . ooh well. l am happy he live and turn out to be a good man.
This father has the right idea, and said it himself: his son is a living, breathing little part of his wife, and always will be. Instead of being angry at the boy, he loves him all the more for it.
Did you not pay attention?
You are really very ignorant.
I’m sure he will hold resentment at some points in his life because that is inevitable but I doubt he’ll ever show it. He made it clear he sees his son as a piece of his wife, a blessing she left behind for him.
That poor husband and father. You can see the pain in his eyes. God bless you and your baby son, your whole world.
That is horrible man. Tears in my eyes. Your tragedy has given me a new perspective on life. We all need to be thankful for and cherrish what we have. Peace.

This man needs to consult a lawyer to determine EXACTLY at what point in the labor process the AFE (Amniotic Fluid Embolus) occurred. I’m wondering if his wife was receiving some medicine to stimulate labor and was possibly getting too much. If anyone knows him, tell him to investigate.
Right. Also 30 hours of labor seems a lot to me. Why not opt for a C section instead. But I’m not a doctor so I don’t know.
I agree. After a certain point, the next step after a long labour would be to opt for C-Section. It could’ve been a safer alternative for both Mom & Baby. I know every situation is different & we’re not doctors, but this seems like it could’ve been prevented. The family should possibly get a lawyer to investigate this as safer measures could’ve been taken. This could also lead to more needed research about this unfortunate AFE occurrence.
@@rubiferrer2419 that was my first thought!! labor way too long!! not good for the baby OR the mother... as in this case. My heart goes out to this young man and his baby. May God Bless them always!
@rubiferrer2419 I think you have to remember that a doctor can not force someone to have a c-section. She may have opted not to have one. My labor was around 29 hours. We talked about a C-section but I said no. I did not want to have a major surgery. I ended up having my daughter a few minutes later. Child birth is so scary. My thoughts are with the family.
Amniotic fluid crosses onto mothers' bodies all the time. At any given moment, about 50% of pregnant women will have traces of it and fetal cells in their bloodstream. Medication almost certainly wasn't the problem.
The issue isn't the presence of the fluid...it's the unknown and extremely rare trigger that suddenly provokes respiratory and blood clotting responses.
I am an AFE survivor. We need research, understanding, and treatment options. AFE is so rare that most OB's go their entire career without seeing it. Blaming the hospital will do nothing to advance the cause of research and education that we need.
Childbirth is terrifying. I have one son. I don’t know how people can have multiple. I’m just very fortunate this didn’t happen to me
My heart aches for you, and I passionately support your goal to get more research for AFE.
I am an amniotic fluid embolism survivor. In 2005, against all odds, I became one of the 5% of sufferers who walked away with comparatively minor consequences. 80% of my fellow sufferers that year died.
AFE strikes in an instant. For me, one breath I was fine; the next, I had no lungs. Completely respiratory collapse as quickly as you can blink. I survived because I had a profoundly gifted doctor close by who diagnosed me and started treatment in less than a minute. And we were exceptionally lucky.
This condition destroys lives. We desperately need more research and better education for all medical practitioners to protect future families.
All my love.
My daughter is a survivor - she was a surrogate for someone and it happened 30 sec after the baby was delivered. She said I don’t feel good and her eyes rolled back. Doctor immediately went into action and code was called. It’s horrid to go into ICU and see my daughter on a ventilator. She is a miracle.
Did this happen you after having more than one child? Or was this with your first? So very glad you survived something so terrible.
It was my third pregnancy. My son delivered 6 weeks early, and the embolism hit 2 hours later.
This is truly heartbreaking. May God bless you this father and son to heal through this tragic loss.
So sorry that your wife passed away. You have a precious son and her memory will live on thru him.
At least we got the save file for the game
Childbirth is the most dangerous thing a woman can go through it can also drastically reduce the quality of her health!
They need to stop manually breaking the water in the hospital. There is ZERO reason to break a water (amniotomy). Babies can be born in the sac. Waters can break on their own. There is no reason to manually do it.
I had a complicated delivery that was 36 hours. Luckily we both made it. Now my son is 23 years old and healthy.
A co-worker who was also pregnant with twins at the same time as me died of an amniotic embolism when she delivered 2 weeks after me. Pregnancy and delivery aren't without risk and the US has one of the highest maternal-child death rates of developed countries in the world. Mexico and Cuba do better than we do.
It's partially because we are accurate in our stats and our qualifications/definitions of certain things affect how certain statistics are recorded.
If you do a cursory database search you can see some more detailed info on how we record our info vs other countries.
@@yourfuturewaifu9061exactly! The US counts infant mortality no matter the gestational age, other countries only count it past 24 weeks. Other countries also have mandatory abortion if there is anything wrong with the baby. This also skews infant mortality rates.
@@yourfuturewaifu9061 But also let's face it, countries like Cuba have a much better health system than the USA and everyone can access it for free.
My mother gave birth 9 children in home, no hospital or dr, all health, no complication. Country woman has some kind straight, they are in their own giving birth.
Indian in Amazon, give birth in wild alone, sometimes with help of tribe woman, their babies are bath in river. Rarely see mortality of infants. What wrong with modern woman? Probably it health issues.
@@Brancaalice what the hell is wrong with you? Just because those women HAD TO give birth in that situation doesn't mean they enjoyed it. They had no other choice. What's this fascination to take back "modern" women to a time when they all suffered in silence with smiles on their faces?
