Usually male birds tend to be more colorful then the females, but it's like the female african gray hornbill likes to wear a bit of lipstick to jazz things up 💋

Emzotic wellll buck beak is basically a brown version of Fawkes but way bigger but your littel hornbill looks like a brown version of a Fawkes

African grey hornbill lifspan in captivity is 15 years and in the wild it is 25 years

I have never commented before but hornbills just get me too excited! I live in South East Asia so I am very lucky that hornbills ( specifically oriental hornbills ) are a common sight here if you are at the right place. But it can give you quite a shock to see 2 large birds appear in front of you. Interestingly I remember that a pair of hornbills actually nested in a zoo where the hornbills exhibits are! It cause such a shock to many as we thought it had escape from one of the enclosure!
Alexis Yi Yay! Thanks for giving me your first comment! I’m not surprised that the hornbills nested there. Although they’re usually solitary (unless breeding) they’re intelligent enough to know that where other pairs of their kind nest, that’s means there is food!!

Eckel (totally spelled the parrots name wrong) sounds like a Pokémon when he (she?) says their name and it’s adorable!
JulieNicole24 the parrot in the background is an Eclectus parrot :)
It suggests their lifespan is around 20 years in captivity on a couple websites, however most say it is unknown. From my guess it must be around 20 years as it's similar to the Trumpeter Hornbill with their diets and the Trumpeter Hornbill being about 15cm larger. Beautiful birds though!

Actually In Malaysia there is a place called Sarawak. Sarawak means The Land Of Hornbills! There I got sum Knowledge for ya.and Hornbills are Sarawak National Bird too. :D

I have had a pair of grey hornbills in a nest outside my bedroom window for 12 years now, so I am very familiar with their commings and goings. Just a correction to the video, the female partially closes the nest herself from the inside of the nest, the male does not help, the female breaks herself out, after she has left, the chick closes the nest by it's self. The female stays in the nest aprox 50 days, the chick leaves after aprox 30 days.
