Hello Marie Anne, I went shopping yesterday and I was browsing the racks and I found myself saying what would Marie Anne say about that. Then I spotted some clothes in the electric hi viz green and orange and i said to myself Marie Anne would say now leave those colours for the construction workers. I did buy a beautifully tailored single breasted black jacket. Just one good item to add to my capsule wardrobe. I tend to see something and to me it has my name on it. In the past.I have bought dresses and blouses with frills and ruffles that satisfy the girl in me but I have learned a lot from watching your videos and now am more elegant and confident. Thank you
With such a pleasant presentation and light-hearted mannerisms, it is easy to remain open and nonjudgemental with oneself on such a loaded topic. Thank you MA! I really enjoy, learn and apply your tutorials; apologies for my binging the videos and commentary during your weekend, but it really helps- particularly during a change of season. The fact that you are always present, responsibe and professional says it all about your true elegant values, n'est pas?!
I look a completely different shape in lighter colours! Black is definitely my friend! You're totally right about having a decent bra too, Marie-Anne, it makes such a difference! Thanks for the tips ☺ x
Totally true and accurate. Here women think that wearing black from head to toe and in lycra or nylon (awfully tight) will make them look slimmer. But as granny said “that will do the opposite and you will end up looking like a poorly wrapped sausage”. Oversized clothes won’t help either they will make you look way bigger. Another video worth sharing with everyone!
Hi Marie-Anne, I just discovered your channel! Je suis belge (flamande) and I admit that lots or flashy colors like we like to wear here is not always that flattering, au contraire. Simplicity indeed always works! Et c'est beaucoup plus façile! Merci beaucoup jolie Marie-Anne, gros bisou et à bientôt!
Marie-Anne, I look forward to all of your videos on both of your channels, and as usual, this one did not disappoint. I appreciate that your advice is simple and that you explain the 'why'. Like some of your other followers, I think about your advice and what you would say about my clothing selections to try on, when I shop. Now, I look at the fabric content on the inside tags (natural fabrics are a must) and if it's not a wow when I look at myself in the mirror, then it's a non! Thank you for all of your sound style advice. I feel like I'm on my way to elevating my style, and I look forward to putting outfits together! Oh, and by the way, I have finally purchased a pair of Chanel-style sling back shoes. They are from DUNE London.
Such an excellent and informative video! The shot of you walking in the garden was stunning. Your ensemble, walk and posture are all so elegant and chic! Super advice about the stripes. The only horizontal stripe I wear is a Breton top but I think you would approve. 😉
Bonjour Marie-Anne. I was never convinced about bootcut legs until I thought about what you said about covering the shoes. I had always thought straight legs would be the most slimming. Seeing you walk over that beautiful bridge, it all made sense. 😊 Merci!
Love these advices, very easy to apply and very practical as well, they are really great help to choose the right and suitable outfits and to look and feel good. Thank you very much Marie Anne.
Also wearing a pendant on a long chain or wearing a long necklace (sautoir) can help with the optical illusion :)) Thank you for the helpful and fun video, Marie-Anne!
Great tips Marie Anne. My mom taught me about wearing the darker colors and the vertical stripes or vertical details. Happy to know I knew most of these tips. I wear darker colors in fall and winter. You inspire me to wear then again. 🌸💕
Black doesn't reflect light, so you look slimmer. White and bright colors reflect a lot of light, so you look larger. The light-sucking characteristic of black also makes your flaws less visible, as well as wrinkles or creases in your clothes, which is why a lot of "travel" clothes are black.
A well fitting bra is a good investment and makes a world of difference to how a garment looks. I'm wearing black a lot more these days and it certainly does make me look slimmer.
Love pants with vertical strips, always look for them. I am petit women with forms, so it works excellent for me. You look stunning Marie-Ann. What brand is your suit? Thank you.
Marie-Anne thanks for the tips. I love all colours in clothing. Bright colours lifts your mood. My wardrobe is fill with all colours. My motto is how you wear them and if you feel good and confident when wearing them, then own it😉
Me too! I love the slimming effect of black, so sometimes opt for black skirts, trousers etc but it sucks the life out of my face. And wearing a black coat in winter makes me feel depressed.
Wearing one colour - perhaps in different shades - is very attractive I find . It is rather odd that I was raised to always wear differing colour top and bottoms . We do have to move on from our mothers' ways sometimes .
When most women want to appear taller and slimmer (even tall and slim ones) Why are shops and malls filled with rows upon rows of clothes that do the opposite? It's a mystery to me.
(Melanie here) I am in need of a trenchcoat so this was interesting to me. (I wear medium or size 8 so I'm not sure that it is as important to stick with a single line of buttons). Trying to figure out how to pick out a trench coat - what style, what color? How to determine what price range is good for a quality trench coat?
@Dave Bonello hi Melanie. Not Marie here but I am a woman who is petite in all ways but I am busty. If you are busty a single line of buttons is the best way to go if you are planning on buttoning it up. If you are not busty, rectangle shape or triangle shape then double breasted also looks amazing. Also most trenches are a thicker more structured fabric so do t just skim the body. There are quite a few videos out there about trench coats, and not surprisingly there are many by women who live in the UK. Emma Hill just did a video on her favorite fall pieces and she included a few different styles and fabrics. Good luck, this is a tough one sometimes. If you want a luxury double breasted classic one you can’t go wrong with Burberry. Amd if bought second hand or at the outlets you can find a great deal!
Bonjour Marie-Anne, My husband does not like seeing me in black. He says I look like a Sicilian widow! Can rounder women wear color at all? If so, how?
My Belgian mother always emphasized getting a good bra and clothes that fit well. I am petite (5’2”) and busty (DD), short waisted with long legs. it is so difficult to find tops and dresses that fit. I often wear a blousy tunic with tailored pants, I sometimes shorten my blouses, my mother will say I look frumpy. Can you please offer some advice on dressing
Breton is a French thing, and the French women are leaner than American women on average. The best trick is to bite the bullet and lose weight, then you can wear almost anything. Unfortunately people don’t realize how easy it is to control weight by changing how you eat. I lost 50 pounds without any pain, just by changing how I ate.
@@verabozinovski2827 it is actually very easy. I avoid any sugary liquid. Eat whole fruits instead of drinking fruit juice. Absolutely no snacking between meals. Eat vegetables and meat till full before eating carbs so that you don’t overeat carbs. The pounds just melted away.
I wish I saw this video before buying my new red Burberry trench coat which is beautiful but double breasted and now I think it looks too bulky on me! I have an old single breasted beige raincoat which is more slimming and I should just wear that one!
For several years I've invested in high quality bras that are beautiful and make a difference in the way clothes fit. The specialty shop I go to has experts who fit the customer. I like either the color nude or red, both become invisible under the outfit. I wear slips so dresses flow over the body. I hate see a skirt getting caught between the female legs, but for a slip. I like a brand slip that is slim and gives the body a little hug to stop the jiggle. And it gives the body a sexy look. One last sexy shapewear is the lace panties with just enough stretch to keep the jiggles under control. Beautiful colors too. I feel great even though I'm still dieting
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I mean it as a compliment. You look fantastic. It’s definitely more difficult to look “ slim “ if someone is fat . I have a hard time with being 125 pounds instead of my usual “ old “ 115 .
If you are short waisted it is better not to tuck your top into your jeans. Proportions are better if it goes over the top. Took me far too long to learn that!
A whale can be seen from far away. If you are a large woman black is not always the best. Small patterns might work better. Not trying to be mean. I'm no slim Jim.
I have also heard that small prints can fool the eye. Some printed bathing suits, for example, can look better than black. And black can be a bit dreary in the summer!
I just like this French woman , her voice is so soothing and her energy is beautiful

Matte black in particular
I thought travel clothes were black to not show dirt since it's inconvenient to launder and dry clean while traveling.
I notice a big difference when i wear a white T shirt or a black one. In photos, i llo much larger in the white one.
