Love you guys❤ do a 96 sunny next!! Please
Been subbed for years and years now
I've sacrificed a lot for my Daihatsu ... from time, money, relationship and my Daihatsu is still the best car I ever had .... wish I didn't sold it😑
Is the MCM shop a authorized haltech distributor? If not, should be
Please get a 1991 ford Festiva.. you guys love nuggets.. get one of these.. the square one like the one squashed on that roundabout.. you won't regret it.
Or I'll do you one better.. the spiritual successor the Kia picanto.. more modern version of what you would think would be the 3rd gen Festiva.
Both have their charms.. but get a Festiva and a picanto and race them.
Hilarious that you cut the body kit, but left the Merc on the roof.
The roof kit does what a body kit could never do.
and left the rear "kit" which is also just an air dam
Along with the theme of this car - none of it makes any sense at all.
@@andrewlovell9930 it does if you realise it'll be used for new topgear aus
@@slow26gtrso a parachute lol
I sense a 24 hours of lemons style race in the near future. Looking forward to seeing the boys go door to door finally.
100% the vibe. Fuel economy on a track day?
You spoiled it
@@Alex-tu9bh It's hardly spoiling if we're all here guessing, besides it feels like a pretty obvious conclusion to come to, there's only so much "track use" a shitbox like this could see 😂
I figured the same thing
They did mention something about dominos pizza delivery on mcm2 a while back.
Everyone needs a fold up tuning fork to stuff in their Daihatsu.
at over 2m tall, he doesn't fold so well.
@@STAG162At 195cm I can fold into suspiciously small spaces 👀
@piuthemagicman at 194cm and mostly legs, I can get into a Mini, but that's as good as I can get.
@@STAG162 How about an inflatable one then? 🤔
if you lose the "roof car" you could probably pick up a few seconds per lap lol
But it’s adding 10 kw at the roof!
I was laughing when they took off the garden edging lip kit, but left the thing on the roof
But lose a few laughs per lap lol. It may be worth it tho, guess it depends on priority haha
I'm guessing they are keeping the roof car for PuRiTy (of the car's concept or something) 😜
It’s an integral part of the car. If they take it off the car just stops working. Nobody knows why. It’s just how it is.
I've found that it's always so much more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Exploring the limits is a riot.
Same thinking behind light cars with skinny tires. WAY more fun pitching something around when speeds are lower and crashes don't make you homeless.
Yeah I had a 1.25 Fiesta many years ago, was always fun thrashing it 😂🤣
What about a fast car fast?
@@VSBerlinaThey break sadly fast enough as well...
It’s true my loud but slow vr5 is at its most fun trying to cling onto Porsches and Audis on my monthly convoy drive….and yes it’s unreliable as all hell too 👌
I like Moog's anti-racing lines.
It's so kind of him to always leave the racing line open for much faster cars and drivers.
It amuses me everytime I see Scotty fitting himself inside small cars Marty and Moog bring to him
When your ECU costs more than your car 🤣
When the dyno session costs more than the car lol
cheap car, prob pushing 20k easy with the ecu, tune, coilovers, engine rebuild
To be fair, Haltech ECU's aren't cheap!
@@Ben-Rogue the best ain't cheap!
@@evlnxr then there would still be that one idiot that would offer 7 because of what the car is lol
Absolutely face-melting power from the little Daihatsu!
I'm building a "Make Your Slow Car Fast" project in the UK, transplanting a Daihatsu YRV Turbo 130 engine, into a Daihatsu Cuore. I'm going to keep the car looking as "Sleeper" stock as I can. Wish me luck!
Same here, I’m putting a 2zz engine in my MR2 mk3🤣🤣
Great project... Good for you! For years, I've thought about this combo - perhaps also 4wd with bits from a Terios - Mini WRX!
That timing tech is really impressive. I'm used to +/- lap times or at best sector times but live time tracking that updates multiple times a second is amazing. Knowing where the gains and losses are midway through a corner is next level for chasing times irrelevant of where the rest of the field are. You compete best when competing against yourself.
The body kit causes too much drag.
leaves mini car on the roof.
Gotta love Marty trimming the skirts to reduce aero drag while still running the roof rack Merc...it's all about performance people...performance!!!
yup grind off the crap on top
Little lightweight manual transmission FWD hatchbacks are just so fun, I think I owe this car and MCM a little bit of thanks for at least partially getting me into them. Now I have a 2017 Honda Fit base model in white and it's definitely the little Honda I've wanted since watching those first MCM videos.
I feel like this should be fully restored to the condition of the red Daihatsu to pay homage to the very first episode
What? you don't like muppet fur?
@@IvanOoze1990Muppet fur can stay just restore the exterior ;)
i reaaalllly want them to clean it up im not a fan of this look. i want full racecar daihatsu mode. in the same red as the OG
No
Missing a lot the blue turd when watching this episodes, i loved that project. It was awesome seeing Marty developing such a linking for that tiny car. And improving it through the episodes. I was so sad when it got scrapped.
Legit..."Scotty from Haltech" needs his own channel... like where he hears what car guys want...he the diplomatically listens and explains back to the restrictions of what's available...then in a voice over he shreds the idea and explains why it's just not gonna happen... then at the end of the vid he makes a miracle happen. Smiles at camera smiles there's a glint on his teeth and cut to over lap of Scotty from Haltech...there we go you can have that one
Love how u guys were concerned about some airo from the front bumper when you have a 🐐🐐🐐toy car on the roof
Surely the Merc on the roof needs to go, IN THE BIN 🗑️
it 100% needs to go
As always, MCM sticks to their roots and makes you feel things no other car channel can. Makes me enjoy my little nugget that much more after watching these videos. Get out there, enjoy mad little cars with your friends and make memories. That’s what it’s all about.
That initial power number is hilarious I love it
id wish more hp than a small tractor but slow cars are fun when there up to speed
Me too. Like a hopeful little puppy.
That parachute on the roof seems to be the elephant in the room.
the pygmy elephant.
I can't get enough of this build. My favorite from your team so far, bar none. Keep them coming!
Every single lap they did, both Marty & Moog, beaming with joy. That's what it's about
Little Nuggets like this are the reason most of us love cars. Can't wait to see the next chapter.
You guys looked like ya'll had loads of fun. love the channel, can't wait for more build content. :)
this might be the first track day where someone had a power-wheels on the roof rack! what an epic nugget!
Takes bodykit off because "too much drag, no aero", proceeds to leave giant toy car strapped to the roof 😂😂😂
The merc was dragging on the ground????
I have wait years for the daihatsu cuore to be back on the channel. Finally it happening!!. Such a well packaged car
Brought a few smiles to my face - just love Marty & Moog - well done again guys - pure inspiration and entertainment 🎉
Boys, thank you for the endless smiles! What a fun series to watch. :)
Back around 1989-1990, there was a small Diahatsu doing supersprints here in Sydney. It had the 3 cylinder motor, but I can't remember the model name. It was so underpowered that when the owner put some A008R tyres on it, it went slower. The rubber duck with the helmet reminds me of another friend, who had a Garfield doll with a helmet stuck to the back window of his racecar Mini. The reason he did that was because a scrutineer objected to his passenger not wearing a helmet.
Love the sound of that little 3 banger getting up in the RPMs. 100% fun for not a lot of money, just the way I like it. Honestly, 100hp+ in something like that would ruin the enjoyment. Awesome series guys!
As an owner of a fun lil 50ish HP car that was designed for low power, you're right. Once you start hitting higher HPs in cars that were never designed for it you wind up having to replace so much stuff that is just changes the car entirely. The car loses it's fun lil soul.
This is the car that got me started watching the channel. Really cool to see it back!
Can’t wait to see the 24 hours on lemans on Xmas day
Lemons*
@@mitchellpatterson3323yeah but the original thing it’s based of is lemans so technically still right
Definitely giving a lemons race vibe
A huh... @@jordanneumann9467
24 hours of nuggets 😂
I freaking loving this!! This gives me so much motivation again to keep going on my L700! I'm in de middle of swapping in a k3ve2 form a Sirion! Can't wait to see more of your L700! Much love from around the world in The Netherlands ❤
First, let me just say thank you for giving me something to look forward to this Christmas; the holidays are hard for me.
Second, keep doing what you're doing. I've had a rough year. You guys are a large part of what has helped me get through it. I'm especially grateful for Moog's video about his struggle with the passing of his dad. In a few words, I get it. I've started training for my second 5K, and I plan on doing it in the Spring.
Take care, be safe, and be well.
Way to go! Always fun with a Daihatsu at the track. If you are still using the standard exhaust manifold, there are a lots of horsepower untouched . A 3in1 manifold with high flow cat after the engine will work wonders👍
I love how the took the time to trim the air dam, because, aero. 🤣
Thank you guys, seriously. Helping inspire me to get back up on my feet and fix my nuggets. They'll get there one day.
Love your videos. No matter what you are getting this car ready for we love watching all the episodes.
Bloody brilliant MEN, when the drivers seat and all the technology, is worth probably 3 times more money than the car itself, nothing but fun is to be had, your videos keep me motivated and massively entertained, thank you for that, looking forward to seeing what happens with this amazing little nugget Christmas day, cheers Marty and Moog
I love how far you guys have come! I almost got emotional there for a sec! I know you guys probably did too ;)
i love this series, cant wait for the big vid!
Always look forward to the Christmas day episode. Gives me some time to relax with my rev head father inlaw away from the absolute chaos that is my home on Christmas day 😂 cant wait to see it boys
What an absolute weapon! I hope there is a poster for this beast!
Been here since 2010! The Daihatsu Cuore will always be my favorite car on the show!
Cheers for the videos lads, Daihatsu sounds great, looking forward to the Christmas special
This is such a great episode guys. I am so happy that you guys released this and took that low nugget around the race track
I loved the acknowledgment at the end, just shows my MCM is the best!
I can't wait for Christmas!
Love it. Really enjoy these videos with the cheap cars. Keep 'em coming team :-)
Boys, well done! Long time viewer, first time commentor. Great to see people who genuinely enjoy cars and know that it isn't size, cylinders, badge and killer wasps that make a fun vehicle.
The mention of the Christmas video brought a big smile to my face! Part of my Christmas ritual when everyone else goes to bed. Can't wait for this one! 😊
Scotty is a legend
Love these episodes
secret revealed: the daishatsu is being entered into a small class motor racing league. kicker is that fans will get to race it
I like the fact that the additional drag of the 'body kit' is an issue while the additional drag of the car on the car is perfectly fine. :D
Definitely a cool race car. Nice work guys
Why do I get the feeling they want to take this car to the Australian equivalent of the "24 hours of Lemons" race (the USA race series for $500 cars). They have a "theme" with the rust and the roof rack car. They bought it for cheap, they have it mostly race prepped (although no roll cage...yet?) and they told Scotty to make the tune such that the engine will just run reliably for a long period of time. IF that is what Marty and Moog have planned, that will be hilarious good fun to watch. No matter what though, I will be inviting some of my car friends over on Christmas for a watch party. Looking forward to what you two have planned!
I think you have single-handedly improved the market for second-hand old Daihatsus😅
Happens with every car lol.. 86's were dropping nicely, nek minit.. Same with the S2000 way back when. The MCM effect haha
I love this can.
It reminds me of when I was a teenager "street racing " my ke55 corolla. Not many mods but fun as hell
I bought a Charade once. 3 cylinders of fun. Ended up in a paddock with no doors etc. Best fun ever.
Moogs clearly got some teaching i finally see proper lines, very cool
Thank you for making this type of content!
The most fun you can have in a $hit box. Well done!
Love it, cant wait to see more
This is more interesting than those 1000hp youtube builds
Great Video Guys 🙂
Scott is a legend. Love the Daihatsu.
Best series in a while, thanks Fella's
Such a sick car! Love it!
"OK, that's a wrap for the day, thanks everyone,. great work." said the director.
The director lowers the megaphone and mumbles to himself "F... me, 12 takes because Moog insisted on pronouncing the car as the Die-shit-sue".
Moog says nothing as he turns and walks towards the carpark, he no look throws the keys of the Diashitsu to his assistant, (his assistant had butter fingers, the keys hit the ground and Moog sarcastically says "catch" then tries that Clint Eastwood eye grimace for second and makes a mental note to sack him tomorrow ...and can't remember if this is the 3rd or 4th assistant he has sacked this year?)
He jumps in his 2023 black Porsche 911 Sports Classic with personalized plates "Paid Cash" ....and realizes there is some chick standing by the passenger door, then he remembers her, their eyes meet as she leans down to look through the passenger window miming "open the door".
There's a 4 second pause as he stares emotionlessly at her pondering for a moment whether to let the blonde super modal in the car or leave her standing there...but clicks the door open for her as she has the coke and anyway, he loves it when she pouts.
He was hitting 150kph before he left the carpark at the same time he was hitting coke off the super model's upturned pinkie nail......Moog starts singing "my Maserati does 1-80-5..." he grabs her by the top of her head as he hits the main road back to Sydney singing "life's been good to meeee....."
Can we appriciate how good the honk noise is on this little 3cyl nugget, brilliant soundtrack
I love the christmas specials every year!
I’ve been quick to knock you boys sometimes despite absolutely loving and supporting this channel. Since France I have been eating my words ever since. I have no idea of the effort, energy, time, money and love that you place into this passion that is MCM and Unicorn Circuit. My short sightedness was wrong and I regret it as I knocked it. I have no idea.
I want to apologise. I’m sorry. Your passion and effort is amazing and I have no idea of the sacrifices and time that you put into this channel that I love. I would spend the next decade watching and enjoying your passion for cars and following the journey that is Mighty Car Mods.
Big love to you guys and everyone involved.
I hope scotty got to rip it around the track aswell. Love your work guys 👏👏
Great to soo you guys at KCar Global few days ago 🤙
35KW at the wheels is about what these made stock.
Getting less than that on a fully rebuilt and fresh engine with thousands of dollars of custom management is just... *chefs kiss*
Tongue in cheek slandering aside, good content as always, keep it up!
Did you hear the bit about preserving the engine for lots of laps?
@@mightycarmods I did I did, I guess I got sucked into hoping the little engine would make some magical power figure with modern computer control. I thought the standard management would probably do a good job of preserving the engine anyway, but being able to monitor exactly what the engine is doing remotely is going to be really cool.
I'm hoping it's some kind of 24 hour endurance race? A lemons type thing? Some kind of charity event?
The dyno science lesson with intakes was what I found most interesting.
20 minutes ago? Last time I came this early I woke up alone 😂
The greatest shit box ever. Awesome stuff guys. Is it too extreme to think that this little Daihatsu would maybe race at the 24 Lemons in the states? That would be cool!
they just did a 24 hour race
Why is the lowest HP dyno session the most entertaining I've ever watched mcm rules
Cant wait for Christmas! Pretty sure I have an idea... CANT WAIT!
Awesome work everyone can't wait for the 25th Dec now.
From Fromage' to Homage', that was elite writing right there. Well done (golf clap). :)
Going fast in a slow car is always so much fun! Also, I think I know what you are hinting at and it is going to be epic!
the outro had me realising yet again people say this too rarely: I love you :)
Good job boys that was emotional
I drive one of these little beasts and I absolutely love it!
Please organise a dedicated thankyou day for Scotty, the dude has always been a highlight of the channel and I'd love to see him taken out for a track day or something
"The body kit is causing drag"
Thing on top of the car: Hold my beer. 😂
Isn’t that daihatsu the car you started your channel? Btw. These things are actually the reason I watch your channel. 😂 I absolutely adore them! They are pure and raw that it makes the power kinda irrelevant. Love it! Big thanks for you guys for keeping making videos about these fun nuggets!
Might be off, but it seems you could do with a bit of preload adjustment on your coil overs/suspension. Seems a bit bouncy on turn entry.
Awesome series, probably one of my favourites 👍 have you ever thought of doing something with an abarth 500?
Scotty is my new hero. Cuore one day and the Ferrari K244 a few weeks ago. Great story.
You guys are epic. Also, a 1:04.5 was pretty fast :D if Yais hilton didn't have a blown engine and a turbo setup and just the big block swap it would have been a great little race between the too. :D
This is what i subbed for
I love this little nugget and episodes like this are so awesome! But even when driving slow cars please wear a helmet guys, we want this show to be around for a long time
Yess! Christmas special!
