Arena has combat like an actual RPG! Everything is run by random number generation, and your skill in certain areas actually help determine the success and the effectiveness of the attack, which is what rpg's do. Don't forget there's also the sidestep by holding Right Alt while using the arrow keys that allows you to strafe, which is useful for dodging attacks or for just moving in general. :P
Oh yes! I should have added the dodging trick. Either way Arena is just so great with its combat, I hope the next elder scrolls games has these types of elements.
+The Drowsy Dragon If anything, Daggerfall actually does it better. There are actual visual and audio ques for when your attack misses or fails (clanging of armor/swords, arrows missing your target and hitting the wall/ground instead of your enemy, or a white sort of metal particle when it just grazes and enemy's armor) and all sorts of other stuff that I can't quite recall right now. There's even a reaction adjuster so if Daggerfall's attack speeds are too fast for you, you can make them happen a little slower if you wanted :D.
Arena has a little visual and audio ques for when you hit your foe, however the audio might not trigger if the sound effects for the monster trigger instead which is annoying... Never mind I quickly got used to it. how do you adjust the speeds in Arena?
hmm I will do some research into this as well... Is it possible you are getting confused with Daggerfall, MC? Edit. I have found the controls and it is listed there. en.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Controls
Thank you for this video! Just recently started playing Arena and keep getting my butt kicked by those pesky goblins and rats in the very first area. The first Elder Scrolls game I played was Skyrim, which I played solidly for at least two years. Then I moved on to Elder Scrolls Online. ESO has been my main game for almost four years, but finally decided to give Arena a go. My goal is to play all the way through Arena, then move on to Daggerfall, etc.
I think you get this alot, but your voice sounds so gooood, man, and thanks for the explaination. Started with Skyrim like most people these days, thought it was the best there is, then i thought about the "V" part, then checkout all of the other games, fallen in love with Morrowind, and now i try to go deeper with Arena, and sure as hell its more complicated than Morrowind
I decided for fun to try and play all tes main stories now that I have all the games but that first rat keeps killing me in arena so this plan is doomed lol great video maybe I'll get to it
I actually enjoy this game it’s on steam now just make sure to replace it with the cd version of arena don’t get why they gave us the inferior floppy disk version of the game
Huh, i thought it was just a DooM clone when i booted it up first. I mean, it came out in the year after DooM and looks similar with the graphics, UI and how the game works at its base, but its much more. Its alot more complicated then "get gun shoot demon".
How does your game work so fast? Mine works slowly af, it's lagged. I can't speed it up by ctrl+f12, dosbox says something like "105% of cpu is a maximum value" I would be grateful if u would have any solution
Did you get it from Bethesda Launcher (which has DOSBox built in) or manually with seperate DOSBox and game.bat files? I did the first thing and can't adjust the cycles as well, then i changed to the second one and it works just fine
@@haibuiphuoc4442 I did both and the bethesda launcher doesn't let me speed up the game. The seperate DOSBox does let me speed it up but I would like the convenience of playing it on the launcher instead.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video! I make elder scrolls related guides each week.

I don't see a way to adjust it. en.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Combat

thank you! was getting really annoyed cause there was no attack button😂😂😂
I decided for fun to try and play all tes main stories now that I have all the games but that first rat keeps killing me in arena so this plan is doomed lol great video maybe I'll get to it
i can barely play, the lag is HORRIBLE, how are u moving so smooth, thats the question!
Great video! You are much younger than me, but are teaching me a lot haha

Thank you so much, I want to play the game but couldnt figure it out
Good video, explains a lot, thanks!
Thanks for this video, really helped me!
Thanks! Very useful
Difficult? I mean the last boss was immune to anything except hand to hand combat... or I don't know, I just beat Jagar Tharn up.

Cool guide man.
Thanks
I probably wouldn’t have compared to combat to Witcher three, rather kingdom come deliverance

@@lu1___ did you get it working
I can not even beat the first enemy and there's supposed to be a whole game afterwards
How does combat work? It doesn’t!
