Just seeing Jon's smile - first thing you always see wherever he is - brightens my mood especially this year. Then you add his music and it's pretty gigantic. Reminds me of Louis Armstrong, and that's tip top rank.

Jon, you are so loved. I pray you stay with Colbert awhile longer, for many reasons. You are always true to your values-to yourself, who lives those values-and that comes through on the show consistently, no matter how silly or racy Stephen gets. You add authenticity, integrity and balance, no matter what is happening. But above all, Stay Human is simply the best ensemble in late night, and always brilliant!! We need you more than ever, because you bring a bit of Heaven wherever you go. 🎶🎶🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️💥

Jon Baptiste is a wonderful musician and human being! Enjoyable interview to watch. But IMO, happiness and joy are synonymous. It’s higher form of human experience. Pleasure is more for the senses - which is what Jon defines as being ‘happiness’. In philosophy that’s the distinction.

This is a deep-dive lesson in what grace within a human can manifest. Grace is a lifestyle choice.
Under fire, and at times literally (but mostly figuratively) , we may not be able to slow down or even stop a badly evolving situation.
But by choosing to live by grace (or just giving it your best shot that day), you can reinforce within your own core that you can be truthful and believe -- and at a minimum, understand what is actually happening. You can weed through the rubble of falsehoods and pure evil. The goal of pure evil is to destroy the joy inside of everyone. Period. So you put on your own mask of 'gettng to the truth and exposing evil by any means necessary.'
We all have gifts to share in this world. But sadly some people's gifts are evil. It's hard to think of it as a gift per se We see it on a daily basis. Sadly. -- Jon's gift of grace in his spirit is musically and creatively is phenomenal.
Some of us are a lot less creative. Ours might be through striking up a conversation in a grocery store with a stranger and making them laugh. Just giving a little joy to someone else... or listening to their pain that they don't mean to speak ... But they feel safe enough to share with you. And you feel safe enough to listen. With no judgment. But honestly. We know people will tell a 'perfect stranger' something that is so painful that it's surprising. But you're there for them at that time. And you listen. And it's no judgment. That is being graceful to another human by jumping into their fire. That's the chance you take as you swallow hard, and try your best to help others ... you don't mind. It's a simple as that.
However, humans are never perfect...And there is an old saying that there is Perfection in Imperfecti9n. Imperfection..hmmm. Should I get up and save the world today as my special gift so to speak. Or can I really just handle 2 cups of coffee, a little food (if there is food in the refrigerator) and crawl back under covers (if I'm lucky enough to have a bed on which to rest my head) and just let the world go on. Some days it's a harder choice than others..
So when you choose Grace you don't mind listening to a 19 minute interview. You don't wanna go onto the next bright shiny object... It'll be there when you're ready to play and have some fun. But Joy is in the learning. And if it makes you feel good inside and helps you put 1 foot in front of the other today...that's pretty damn great in my not-asked-for opinion.
Everyone please take care. Be safe. We need you.
