Wow! This was such a great interview. Jon Batiste is such a national treasure. He is so young, but such a great representation of what has always made New Orleans such a culturally relevant treasure. I fear so much of that was lost and driven out after Katrina. It is refreshing to see someone so young, with such an old soul and talent that has maintained the true essence of New Orleans musical culture and creativity. Just listening to this interview reminded me of my time living in New Orleans for college, and all of my relatives that live there and those who have passed on that had the musical gifts.
