  • "Heaven's Footsteps," a poem dedicated to Ahmaud Arbery recorded live at the infamous Hampton House Hotel in Liberty City, Miami. Written by Spoken Word Artist & Poet Tif Boom
Hampton House is full of black history stories as portrayed in Amazon's newly released original movie "One Night in Miami." During segregation Black History legends like Martin Luther King Jr, Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X stayed in the welcoming rooms in this still intact hotel.
This poem beautifully paints the picture of African Americans in heaven after living a second hand life here on earth. The poetry captured the love and excitement from black angels when black lives make it to heaven. You can hear the sound of Ahmaud's footsteps as the poem progresses into a chant for change.
This poem is great to share with kids/ students for Black History month. This is poetry about real life situations. Use this piece as an opportunity to teach kids/ students about black art and poetry as well as the history of Hampton House.
The background music for this poetry is provided by talented musicians from Miami. Enjoy this spoken word performance for black history month.
