    Hi, Allie....I'm 71, a mom of 6 girls and a grandmom of 16. I did have to giggle just a wee bit when you said that you needed to find a way to get a shower with 2 little ones. I understand the struggle! With every baby I seemed to remember saying to myself, "Ummm....how did I take a shower?" I like a schedule, too, but with little ones that "schedule" often changes from day to day! I know I would put the tiny baby in her infant seat, and take her in the bathroom with me so that I could know that she was safe. Showers were quick (often with the bathroom door open so that I could keep an ear out for the next older one), but I was clean!! :) As for naps...my first 2 girls were very compliant...nap time was consistent and no problem. THEN, God have me Hannah. :0 When she was Emmer's age, I tried EVERYTHING...but couldn't get her to take a nap. Enter: QUIET TIME. I got a timer (timers saved my sanity for MANY situations). It was set for 1 hour. During that time, Hannah was allowed to play in her room...didn't have to stay in bed, just had to play quietly. Emmer's bedroom will have to be super child-proofed, but it will be "her 'me' time". It will probably take a bit to train her that you mean business (meaning that, for a while you won't be getting a lot done during that hour), but the rewards will be immense! If Hannah came out of her room during that time, I put her back in, and said that I would have to add a minute to quiet time now. The timer was wonderful, because when that timer went off she KNEW that quiet time was over...no "just a few minutes longer from mommy". The timer was boss. :) I home schooled my younger 4 girls, and quiet time became a constant even through their teen-age years!! By that time, it was treasured by all. If one day I would say that I didn't think we'd have time for quiet time I would hear, "MOM! NO!! PLEASE LET US HAVE QUIET TIME!!" It was everyone's "me" time (mine, too, of course). Everyone needs space...a breather. Your "me time" will likely shrink for a time with a new baby...with each new baby. Each little one is SO worth it, tho'. Emmy is going through SO many changes right now...new brother, moving...rocking her to sleep is probably how it will be for a while (You could try a timer...first timing how long it takes her to fall asleep, and then letting her know from the beginning how long your will rock her before she will be put her bed. Decrease that time by a minute a day). Ummm...can you tell that I'm detail oriented? ....Thus endeth my epistle...sorry it's so long! :P :)

    My second baby is now 9 months old. I didn’t get in a good routine groove until she was about 7 months old. I think right now just focus on surviving those first brutal months as a mother of two. At some point it will just flow more smoothly. I think it’s a matter of the baby aging enough to make a routine. You will get there. Hang in there 😊

    Ok so I struggled with the same thing once I had two.. and honestly, I wake up an hour earlier than I did before to get that me time in. At nights it’s just too much at times and I’m too exhausted to care, but getting up just a little earlier in the mornings has really changed everything for me. Even just my overall mental state. It’s quiet, I have my coffee in peace, catch up on a show, shower and get ready for the day. That’s what helped me!

    Hi Allie,
    I’m a mom of 2 VERY busy boys who are only 14months apart.
    After the baby was born it was so hard (1 cried the other would cry lol), but I eventually got into a routine.
    My suggestions:
    Have a very basic cleaning schedule.
    Have a mandatory nap/quiet/rest time in the afternoon.
    Start the dishwasher and washing machine each evening, unload dishwasher, dry and fold 1 load of laundry in morning.
    Crockpots are your FRIEND!!!!!
    We have our quiet time from 1-3pm.
    The first hour I would nurse the baby to sleep and then get as much cleaning as I could for the remainder of the hour.
    The 2nd hour I would lay down with the newborn.
    I also usually get up 30 min before thee boys to shower and make my bed.
    If they get up before I can, I’ll put them in a safe spot with juice and maybe a snack until I can do the above 2 things and make breakfast. That’s all I can think for now.

    As a momma of three my best advice is just go with the flow, honestly when they are this young it's hard getting them into any kind of routine. If you try super hard you'll only be frustrated when it doesn't go to plan. Learning all these things with my newest little boy! Congratulations boys are so much fun:)

    Creating a schedule is a great idea. Don’t be hard on yourself. Everyone handles it differently. My kids are 13 months apart and a schedule made my world a better place. To this day my kids enjoy napping almost every day, they are 16 & 17.

    I had the same issue with naps when my two were born. There were just about two and a half years apart. So I had a newborn just around the time that my toddler was giving up naps. Having a set 'quiet time' during what would be nap time helped a lot and got her in the habit of looking at books, etc. You're doing well, Allie. The adjustment from one kid to two is a challenge, but every day it will get a little easier.

    I have twin toddlers & an 8 month old! It was almost impossible to find a routine until baby started getting into a nap routine, and sleeping longer, probably around 5 months. Try to shower whenever! There’s no set time, just whenever you can😉 good luck mama!

    I am a mom of 4 and all my kids have a schedule... I have a 14, 12, 10, and 3 yr old... My son that's 3 yrs knocks out for a nap between 12pm and 2pm... I make sure he dont nap past 4pm... Another tip is to let him play outside alittle so he gets tired... All my kids are showered by 8pm and are in bed by 9pm no later than 9:30pm... Than i shower after... And get alittle done around the house... But it will gradually come to you... Your doing a good job... 👍👍👍👍👍

    Girl! I’ve been watching your videos for forever now. And can I just say, you are beautiful! Anyway, just watching your intro, I wanted to say... I have a 24 month old girl and a 6 month old boy. I am Just Now settling into a decent routine. Personally, I’ve started sleeping around 10-4:30. It’s way less sleep than I used to get, but it’s enough so I’m not exhausted all day. I get up, shower, clean, and prep breakfast. Then it’s mom time. Usually I can get them to nap at the same time and I either clean, work on self care, or just get a few quiet minutes. Sometimes I’ll even get a quick nap too. Good luck. I just think it takes time. I understand it’s difficult when the baby is so little and nursing like all the time with an always hyper toddler. Keep your head up. You’ll get there mama!

      Simply Allie sometimes I do sleep in a few extra minutes. My little man still wakes up middle of the night sometimes! (Hence the 1am comment) my husband leaves for work at 5:30 so that helps since I usually get up with him. It was rough though! I used to be a total night owl. Good luck! 💘💘

    My second was born 2 days after yours and we are going through the same thing. My son has been super colicky and has had acid reflux so it's been a rough couple weeks. I'm not only on the struggle bus but I'm driving it! I went a week without washing my hair. I felt disgusting. I am also in need of tips on juggling it all. I go back to my full time Monday-Friday job in a week and a half and I'm not sure how I'm going to survive!! But we will get through it, including you. You have such a cute little family. My kids are 11 months apart (currently 16 months and 4 months). My best advice is to give it time. Give it a minute. It WILL fall into place. I felt like I was going to live in chaos forever, lol. But around 3 months with the new baby things started to get so much easier. So, my advice isn't to do "this and this and this" and then it'll all work out. But to just give it a second. Schedules will pick back up, order will come back, and clean hair will come easier. Lol. Or...just lock both babies in the bathroom with you and take the dang shower. There's that too. 😅

    My 2 year old doesn't nap during the day...it can be crazy hard. She also needs to be held/rocked to sleep. I've tried putting her to bed awake and she just screams, it breaks my heart :( she is my 3rd baby (my older 2 are 9 & 10), the older 2 were such great sleepers and she's just different ☺ once she falls asleep she sleeps really well so I try not to get too hung up on it. Hopefully it's just a passing thing with Emmi. I see you're now over 100k subscribers, congratulations you so deserve it!! Love your channel and your little family ❤

    I usually take my showers either after my 2 girls/son goes to school in the morning mainly..
    But ik you don’t have kids in school yet so I’d have someone watch the kids for a few minutes or when they have nap time pretty much thats all i can think of or take a quick shower b4 the kids wake up.

    When my kids were babies I would put them in their bouncy seat on the bathroom floor facing the shower so they could see me and I would talk to them while I was showering. I have always done this in the mornings but you could do it at night as well. Also enlist help of hubby! Have him watch/ hold baby so you can take care of yourself. If baby prefers to be with you-well even more reason to force him/her to get used to other adults. I also did a lot during nap times although if needed that is a great time for you to rest as well. Is the older one in preschool yet? Take advantage of the time only having one. If not in preschool yet enroll as soon as possible. Also a daily schedule worked great for me. Routine. And yes you may have to force it on them. They will eventually get the hang of it. Good luck!

    I just let my 3 year old either shower with me or I’ll sit her in our bed and let her watch a show on the tablet then my almost 8 month old will just be on his play mat right outside the door. But I really did that since he was born too. It’s easier when they’re smaller in my opinion cuz when they’re older they want even more attention but again you just gotta let them see you whether they’re in a bouncer or play pen. You just gotta force a routine on really. Can’t really let it flow because it’ll drive ya nuts. So just force a change on bedtime and taking time for yourself, etc. you’ll get it thought ❤️

    Ah, Allie, I SO feel your struggle with routine and schedule for kids!!! :( I have just one 3 months old baby girl, but I had the same issue when she would go to bed very late and super tired, so it was sooo hard to put her down at night :( I think Oakley is just too small now, it will get better in couple of upcoming weeks! But I wanted to share how I got my daughter into routine! Around 1,5 months old I started noticing that she’s getting very cranky and whiny around 6 or 7 pm. So I tried to put her down for a night sleep around 7-8pm, and I was so surprised that she started sleeping from 7pm up to 11:30 pm 😧 when even at night she wakes up every 1,5-2 hours for feeding, first nap of the night she would sleep 3,5 to 4 hours!! Another thing I did is that I started reading sleep experts articles, and they say that baby should not be awake more than say 1 hour for 1-2 m.old baby, and it also helped to ease the process of putting her down for a nap (both at day and at night). And the thing that I see eased the process of going for a night nap - is a little bedtime ritual for a baby!! It can be small things but it helps SO much!! I started with bedtime ritual when she was a little bit less then 2 months old, and it made a huge difference! Bedtime ritual that we have is that I first change her diaper for a night and sing a calming lullaby to her (she really enjoys it and “sing” along with me with baby talk:) ), then I come to the bedroom, switch off ALL the lights and switch on a soft yellow nightlight and switch on a white noise in the app on my phone. Then I dress her into her little pajamas (it’s more a process important that the pajamas itself), then I take her to arms and we go and close the curtains, and we would walk around the dark room for some time to calm her down until I see her sleepy eyes (sometimes it’s 3 minutes, sometimes 10-15 minutes), and then I put her to her crib, kiss her and leave the room. Sometimes I’m around 3-5 minutes she cries out, usually I just need to give her her pacifier that fell out, kiss her again and leave the room. Usually that send her to sleep until 11:30pm! If she still cries and very upset, I will pick her up, and slowly walk around the room again for some minutes to calm her down until I see her sleepy eyes, then I put her down, kiss her and leave the room. That works EVERY TIME even if she was super cranky before bedtime!! I think the biggest impact gives the walking with her around the dark room to calm her down, it’s like a quiet time to calm down on mama’s arms. Oh, and 2 small important things! When you put baby into crib, he shouldn’t be totally sleeping (because if he wakes up and he sees that he’s in crib when he fell asleep on mama’s arms, it’s unknown environment for him, he will cry), so put him down when he’s calm and very sleepy, so that he fall asleep on his own in the crib. And also, we have a Sleepyhead nest in the crib, she only likes to sleep in it, sleeping in crib without a nest didn’t worked for us at all. So just try to find your own bedtime ritual for baby that would work for your family😊 And those hours after 7pm I use for a quick 10-15 mins cleaning routine, and most importantly, for me-time ❤️ I hope that helps!! 💕

    I have a 7 month old and a 2 and 10 months old. There's no exact routine, or better yet there's no routine. My guy is so different from his older sister and in every sense they are entirely different so while my 2 yr old is super independent she is growing therefore still need, but here is the thing both kids need you, just in an entirely different way!!!!! So chances are that our routines are gonna constantly change so much because they are growing babies. If you find a way let me know straight away haha if I do, I'll let you know straight away! Honestly I don't worry any longer. About routines that is. Hehe wish you the best. You're not alone!

    I’ve been going through the same thing 😭😭 I only have time to wash my body and not my hair. Do you use essential oils in your hair?

    • @simply-allie
      @simply-allie  5 років тому +1

      Annaliza R hahaha the struggle! Yep, I mix tea trea and cedarwood into my shampoo and conditioner before washing. Game changer!

    • @carolynshane295
      @carolynshane295 5 років тому +1

      Simply Allie do you put the oils in the bottle or just drop the oils in your hand with the shampoo/conditioner?

    • @simply-allie
      @simply-allie  5 років тому +1

      Annaliza R I mix it in my hand each time. Essential oils shouldn’t be used on plastic (expect YL diffusers which are medical grade plastic) because the essential oils can break the plastic down.

    • @carolynshane295
      @carolynshane295 5 років тому

      Simply Allie does it make your hair smell like tea tree and/or cedar wood after it dries or does that smell go away after rinsing your shampoo out? I know when you do an apple cider vinegar rinse your scalp/sweat smells like vinegar still so just wanted to see!

    • @simply-allie
      @simply-allie  5 років тому +1

      Carolyn Shane it’s smells a little like tea tree when it’s wet but honestly not very much and then it’s gone by the time my hair is dry

    I would put the baby in a vibrating bouncy seat while I showered. The warmth and the sound of the shower coupled with the vibration kept my babies happy long enough for a shower. If they cried, I just went a little faster.

    My biggest struggle was (is) asking for help. Andrew seems like a very willing and helpful husband. Sometimes we just need to vocalize our need for help -others may be totally willing to help but just don’t catch on that we need it in the moment. A great way I have learned to ask for help (check out Ramona Zabriskie @ Wife Savers Podcast or her Wife For Life lessons) is saying “will you/would you do _____, I would really appreciate it. “ or “when you get a chance, would you ______? That would help me out a lot.” It sounds so simple (and it is) but for some reason, for me actually verbalizing these things gave me so much anxiety and then I would have so much burn out. I am sure if you talked with him about it he would be willing to help with bedtime routine with the kids so you could shower for 30 mins or what not. Also, if you are looking to sneak a day time shower, try while emmi is napping and then take Oakley in the bathroom in a rocker/bouncer/pack n play. Or if you have a baby gate for her room and you feel like she could be in her room unsupervised then just close the gate so she stays in her room and then take Oakley in the bathroom if needed. It helps that you guys have the video baby monitors so you could always take that in the bathroom so you can check on the video feed while you shower. I have found the best way to get an actual *true* relaxing shower is to do it at night after they go to bed. It is so hard though because I am just exhausted by that point 😫

    I don’t know how to say this without sounding judgmental but just watching the videos the little we see of your day... but it seems that you allow your daughter to run your home. Again we just see & hear only a little bit of your day so I am sorry if that sounds rude but just an observation.

    Allie, your stunning. It doesn't matter what your hair looks like, your beautiful,inside and out.. My children were four yrs apart, but I used to put them to bed at the same time every night. 10 pm. I would read them a book or two, then that was it,. I never had any problems with them.guess I was lucky. After they were asleep, then I would shower and get ready for bed.. Your doing fine, Oakley is still tiny yet. Your doing the best you can..Take care, get some rest. See you again soon.

    All I can tell you is.. This too shall pass. Right now you're in "survival mode"... and that's ok.
    I used to have all these expectations.. of how things SHOULD be.. but once I learned to let go of everything that was.. non-essential... I began to almost enjoy the challenge that IS Young Children.
    Just have faith that things do get better.. and that what you are doing has incredible value.
    Many Blessings

      Melissa habeck good advice! A lot of mommies struggle with this I had to learn it a bit but once I was able to ignore her throwing a tantrum she learned “hey I guess I don’t need momma to hold me!” Haha:)
      My daughter is two now and baby girl #2 is due Jan 8th and so I will be back to having my little girl learn momma can’t hold her all the time! :)
