Great clip thanks for posting. Notice the slight lyric difference from the cut that ended up on the River, like this one too, little different transistions as well.
Would it be fair to say that the Darkness era is the most productive Bruce era of them all? Not only is Darkness brilliant but many of the best tracks on 'The River' were actually produced during the earlier Darkness period (for example, Independence Day, Pont Blank and The Price You Pay). One final piece of evidence is that most of the best cover versions of Bruce songs also date from that era (e.g. Because The Night, Fire, Hearts of Stone, etc.)
I think this version has a Blonde on Blonde vibe going on, musically speaking. I prefer it to the released version on The River. Definitely a darker song in its early inception.
