    I find it really interesting that for this election there's been multiple UA-camrs who you wouldn't expect to publicly endorse someone have openly done so. I never would've guessed that LegalEagle or J.J. McCullough would make actual endorsement videos to convince their viewers to vote Kamala and condemn Trump.

    • @coreyjcampbell
      @coreyjcampbell  2 місяці тому +9

      Yeah I remember back in 2016 when Casey Neistat endorsed Hillary it seemed kinda like a big deal since he’s a pretty apolitical mainstream UA-camr… if I had had more time to put into this video there’s a lot more individual cases I could’ve look at but I really do think at the end of the day there’s not a ton of upside for most non political UA-camrs unless you do feel a strong moral imperative.
      But from my perspective the stakes are high enough this election that you probably should feel some moral imperative!

    Criminally underrated channel. Personally, I watch UA-cam for entertainment and I try not to allow it to influence my choices rather it be voting for one candidate over another. Although, I do appreciate how both candidates strive to get down on the younger generations level- it is our future after all that they are tasked with managing.

    I think anyone should be allowed to express their political opinion. Politics is a major part of our lives and political discussions should be welcome anywhere as long as respect and understanding are part of the conversation.

    i wish everyone online was this collected and respectful ❤ it seems like no matter what side you pick your always instantly labeled by the other side as "unintelligent, or uncaring" i think people gotta learn to understand that everyone has different views and to respect peoples boundries and differences. thats why most of the time youtubers dont talk about it, because politics can get so disrespectful so fast.

    Im not american, Im just watching this from the sidelines but i do find it funny how people say everyone needs to vote. To an extent yeah but they forget to put that everyone needs to research too. I think anyone who votes out of emotion, some person like a youtuber or any influencer or anyone told them to (without laying info on BOTH candidates and an actual compelling argument on why) and people who do it just to only be part of something are genuinely better off not voting. I'd even go as far as to include people who only get their info from news sources that are biased from the party they want because it creates an echo chamber. The only people who should vote are people who have gone through both the negatives and postives of both candidates from both biased news sources or an unbiased news source if that actually exists. I know not everyone has the time to do the research maybe too busy with a job or providing for a family or maybe they dont feel strongly about either of the candidates and are fine with who wins either way and thats fine just don't give into the pressure of voting if you dont plan to do research. its better to not vote than do an uninformed vote. I get that every vote counts, even a one vote difference can influence the outcome but i'd rather have that only be decided by informed people

    Here’s what I think. I feel like people engage with content creators or influencers more than they do with politics. And when it comes to election day, I think it’s kinda clever to see what those influencers have to say to put their influence on who to vote for! It’s pretty much in the name! 😅
    Now I get it that some people don’t like it to get political (even I try not to). But sometimes in times like this, some people don’t have a choice but to fasten up their gloves and get political.

    I don't think all youtubers should necessarily stay out of politics, because, lets face it. A lot of people's political knowledge mostly comes from the internet. I know for a fact I don't watch the news or read the newspaper. Even if I should. And having high quality, well-intentioned, political youtubers can be a good way to spread that news to the potential voters who use the internet to help them make a more well-informed decision on who to vote for. I think the idea that " no entertainer should be involved in politics" is wrong.
    Rather, they should not try to sway you to vote for their political candidate, even if it goes against your beliefs, unless you do something similar to JJ McCullough, where he explains specifically why you shouldn't vote for a specific political candidate, providing his insight into the situation. But simply telling people to vote for someone, without explaining or arguing why, just to get people to vote for your candidate, is just kinda scummy.
    Like Corey said in the video, If you strongly believe why one candidate will be bad for the country, and think you can sway people into making what you believe is the right decision, then I don't see anything wrong with talking about it if you do it responsibly.

  • @tomslawyer
    @tomslawyer 2 місяці тому

    What is actually the point of this video?
    You start by discussing why UA-camrs publicly espousing political beliefs can be negative for their channels because doing so can alienate parts of the audience. But then you say it can actually be beneficial if it's the center of your channel like Ben Shapiro or Destiny...
    And then you say you don't wanna alienate the Trump supporters in your audience.. but then you say anyone supporting Trump has lost touch with reality? What is the point you are trying to make?

    • @coreyjcampbell
      @coreyjcampbell  2 місяці тому

      My personal belief is that it's worth speaking out against Trump even if it damages your audience. But I get why many wouldn't want to, especially because it's hard to know how much even major celebrity endorsements really change things let alone various UA-camrs.
      I do think Trump supporters are out of touch with reality but they would probably say the same thing about me. Like I said if you love Trump then there's not much I can say. But if you think both options are bad and have just made the choice that Trump is the lesser of two evils, I really think you need to reexamine the facts.
      Ultimately I decided to make this video last minute before the election, and there's plenty more I could've gotten into if I had more time to work on it. Mostly it's been interesting to see people's opinions in the comments, so far it's been generally very civil and I'm happy to see that.

      @@coreyjcampbell I know my opinion will change nothing, but Id like to give it anyway
      1st things 1st, I dont like Trump, I think that January 6th was a huge failure on his part, and theres many other things hes done that weren't very presidential.
      But I think that Kamala is even worse than Trump for many Reasons. Compare the average persons life from 2016-2020 to 2020-2024, prices have sky rocketed, (I know Covid had a huge effect on this but I believe trump would have handled it better) Millions of Illegal immigrants have come into the country because the Biden-Harris campaign removed a bunch of Trumps policy's, and the democratic party in general has always brought higher taxes and in recent years, has been for media censorship (they try to cover up things that Kamala or Biden said, like when Kamala told Christians they were at the wrong rally, when she said she was a gun owner, or when Biden said on a zoom meeting that all Trump Supporters were garbage, their team quickly tried to cover all of that up.)
      And in many interviews Kamala completely ignores or avoids important questions about policy just for her team to edit the interview to make her look better, and if she cant sit down and interview someone who isn't a democrat, how is she supposed to sit down and talk with other world leaders?
      Trump is well spoken and truly cares about this country, and many people are only voting for Kamala because shes "not Trump," and I agree, hes done some bad stuff, but at the end of the day you have to vote based on policy not person.
      Finally, the media HUGELY favors democrat's which is the only reason I think this election is even close.

      @@gxcfvbccbbcvn I appreciate you taking the time to write a thoughtful response.
      Without getting into everything I would just say I highly doubt Trump (or any president) could’ve stopped inflation and high prices, too many different factors out of government control. I mean Trump himself appointed the current chair of the fed who probably has as much control as anybody over how money flows through the economy.
      Anyway I’m sure I won’t change your mind either but thanks for the respectful engagement!

    I agree with a lot of the stuff said in this video. I believe that kamala harris will win this election. I am not able to vote this election, but if I were it would be for trump. I don't think he is a good candidate, I would FAR prefer JD Vance or Tim Walz as presidential candidates, but I still believe that trumps vision for the country aligns with my values. I am not in any way a far right person. I just simply do not like the amount of blatant lies, inconsistencies, obvious scriptedness, and lack of disclosure that the US democratic party takes part in. I do not like kamala harris' approach to DEI, or how she handled the disasters in Florida with the hurricanes. I also cannot stand the amount of fear mongering and rumor spreading that "trump will be a dictator" and "trump is destroying women's rights." I strongly recommend a video by Amala Ekpunobi on her exposing lies about the Trump/Vance administration, it really brings to light how much is being said without any proof. Overall, I do not align with either party, yet I feel the democrats are far more corrupt, inconsistent, and lie a lot more than the Republicans. I hope I have been constructive and reasonable with my answers, and please follow up with any questions you have regarding the trump campaign, I'm happy to answer. :) in general, you make great content and I don't plan on leaving just for the politics.
