😂🤣 yeah that was taken from a knight Rider parody piece at the beginning of my Vancouver retro game show 2018 if you wanna see the whole piece of cheese lol 😁👍👍
A good and simple tip. I like to see the loading screens and listen to the loading music sometimes, so I have started to save tape (tap) files onto my C64 mini. But as soon as the game has loaded for the first time (there's never any cracking screen intros), I use the first of the 4 save slots, to save at the option screen of the game. If I do want the game to load quick, I can just open the save slots and load it in seconds, without going through the real time loading.
Thx , yeah tap games don't have cracking service intros ever so you don't really need to use any configurations to play them besides the odd port change . Good tip for getting back into them quickly thx 🕹️👍👍
Awesome !!!! Thank you so much . I am brand-new to the C64 and I just bought the mini . This is definitely going to help me to avoid any headaches . Liked and subscribed and I will be back for more .
Thank you , check out my newer videos on it as they have the more up to date firmwares and info , the Maxi videos also have more info for the mini as well 👍
Hey Bastich, great video. Can you provide an example of a cjm file used for changing inputs on an alternative controller? I've got an old PS2 controller with a USB adapter that's supposed to work but I need an example of what the cjm file should look like to get the mini to recognize the different controller.
I made that video a very looooong time ago so as far as I remember the CJM files only work with the official control on the mini and the newer microswitched one on the Maxi and Amiga mini not for just any controller
Hi BastichB! Love all your videos!, I'm confused as to how to create a default CJM for the MAXI, as in this case the games are uploaded to the usb stick with a TSG file (from PCUAE) which seems to be the same? but... How do I create a CJM file - or use yours for the matter - that only has the controllers' configuration and doesn't affect each game's details included in each TSG? Thanks a bunch for your time reading this!
I'd love to help but all the info i knew about this process then is there , i cant honestly remember any details , this is specifically for the mini though not the maxi so if you trying the same technique it may not work .
@@BastichB64K Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!!! I understand, I'll keep looking for a way to do this easily on the Maxi, thanks again from Buenos Aires!
Aaah i did not know you could do multiple files at once, have been doing one file at a time. Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful. Will turning of the fastloader with the file editor help with loading up C64 demos?
Nice , I actually haven't tried demos yet just games ... With the fastload I couldn't get any demos going . Nice I'm glad you got a demo going 👍 I'm gonna have to go and test a few myself
@@BastichB64K I ran into a problem when using games where I mapped the second fire button to space. For example in Turrican 2, when you press and hold fire and wiggle the stick, you will automatically use your "beam bombs". When I map space to the left triangle button and keep the two firebuttons for fire it does not give a problem. Can you test if you have the same problem, so that I can rule out a problem with my c64mini/joystick? It is not a bad problem, because if I use both buttons for fire it is no issue. But I want to know if it is a hardware problem or a problem in the cjm confiiguration tool.
This was very helpful. I am curious though... What is the title of the diamond maze game that was playing on the screen behind you at the beginning of your video?
I'm a new C64 mini owner and that video was just what I needed, thanks. Can I ask where do you get your games from? got a lot from freeze64 but missing a lot of the games I'm after. Thanks
probably won't get a response considering how old this video is, but i have a game im trying to play that actually uses the "?" Question mark. but there's no way to implement it in the controls. i've tried several ways i can think of and thats the only key i can't get to work on the joypad. any ideas? i've gotten everything else to work fine. the game im playing on the C64 is Basil the Great Mouse Detective, the game IS playable without it if you know what you're doing, but i still would like to get all the required buttons to work if possible. and so far... thats the only one...
I always respond to comments , i cant really help in this case unfortunately.. i made that video years ago and moved on from the mini after getting the maxi a very long time ago so i dont have that setup to problem solve , its odd that the ? Cant be mapped , could be a version of the game thats bugged ?
Thanks for the video! And I didn't even know LADY TUT until now! Boy, that is a tricky game. Will I ever score higher than measly 2400 or something? :D

Soooo, i undestand a little better what a CJM file is. But i dont know how to use them or configure them for my need. I have LAst ninja on 2 discs or Zak McKraken but since i dont fully understand CJM files, i cant get Last ninja to change disc or games like Zak, Defender of the crown, Fist II, Barbarian to even start. I downloaded 4 different versions of Defender of the Crown, Fist II and Maniac Mansion to really see if i could get it to start at least. Fist II gets the furtherst since i get to see the crack team, the info text about the game, then then choose mode, then see the cool Fist II screen and a loading like state and nothing more.
I have multiple C64 mini videos talking about the file formats that can play perfectly on the mini so you can check those out for a lot more info on that . In a nutshell all the games you mentioned are multidisc or multi loaders ... The mini doesent do do multidisc games , the solution is CRT files or PRG files that compile multidisc games into one file essentially . So all these games are available in these formats . I'd suggest checking out a site called csdb.dk and do a search in the top right for the game you want. Find the version ending in CRT or PRG and you have a winner perfect for the mini . There are other useful file formats like I said earlier check out my C64 mini firmware update videos for all the details and functions. Thx for watching
My suggestion is use the same site but look for files ending in TAP which means tape version which the C64 mini plays perfectly ... It's the best way to listen to all those awesome last Ninja and any of the classic loader music 👍👍

Just extract the file and the mini will only recognise the ones that it can use so you don't have to worry just put it all in a USB card . The second droplink file has been deleted. How can I obtain file please?
I don't have access to it anymore , sorry
Any idea of the hierarchy of the CJM files - that is, does a CJM in the root of the USB over ride what's in the folder, or is it the other way around?
According to the C64 mini Main site it has to be in a folder to take effect so one in the root may not take effect ?
thanks
